I think we're playing a different game tbqh between a solid overall gun belt and a low viz setup, but I'm down for some r8ing and h8ing.

No idea about the RX, but seeing as how it's pretty much the D3CR with a couple smaller utility pouches replacing the stuffit pouch, probably pretty awesome. Only thing I don't like is it looks like they are going with an X harness by default now. I much prefer an H harness.

I ended up selling the D3CR. Was using belts more than anything for competitions and classes. Figure if I miss it enough I'll probably get another one in ranger green. If I don't I might just order an M4/AK rig from SOE and wait the 3-6 months for it to show up to have as a cheap utility rig.

If you check the kings of white trash youtube they occasionally put some buy now ship now stuff up to spite a whiny customer. Like yesterday the OD Green M4/AK rigs were up for about 45 minutes as buy now ship now.

I wouldn't preorder a damn thing from those guys though hoping it ships in a timely manner. That being said, despite them being white trash retards, they sew some good shit. The cobra riggers belt and battle belt I had from them was built like a fucking tank.

I got tired of their "fuck this retarded customer" after a while. I dunno, the cost to time ratio is so retarded its just no legit worth it. I'm also not gonna follow them to see buy now ship now shit.

according to the videos the way that they do orders causes a delay. Their primary market is belts. the belt orders have a pretty fast turn around and take up most of their production time. Everything else they wait until they have a bunch of orders for something then they make a batch to fill those orders plus some extra. They increased their size a year or two ago and they make enough money they could be a huge company and hire way more people but they decided not to continue to grow. They make millions of dollars every year selling belts. SOE has had government contracts for slings and bags and all kinds of shit.
>>
>>33169301

what are you even building kit for? LARPing, or should you have, say, shelter and water purification?

It's mostly stuff to dick around innawoods with.

This is /gq/ stuff not /out/ stuff. I have totes stacked full of camping stuff, tents, tarps, paracord, small stoves, etc etc.

>water purification
Good point. Was just thinking stove boiled since I'm not planning on getting shot at any time soon but I guess picking up some iodine wouldn't be a bad thing.

>>
>>33169591
I should probably include footwear in that picture, huh... I have a ton of footwear due to hiking/camping interest.

Current favorites are Quest 4D II GTX's.

>Most likely candidate for hand gat?
Glock 19 gen 4 probably.

Fits the length restriction and I haven't heard many bad things about them other than the common memes of it exploding and shit (which probably won't happen).

Also
>store a CC in the glovebox
>AR under a seat
Heh, doing either or both of those if pulled over would land me in prison for quite a long time. In Canada we're not supposed to be allowed to defend ourselves.

If my shit got stolen and used in a crime, there's definitely a part of me that would feel responsible. Chances are I'd never know for sure, but I'll be damned if I give some asshole a functioning weapon.

If Tyrone had a spare BCG on deck, I guess it's his lucky day. But it's the least I can do to keep my stolen property from being immediately used to hurt someone.

Truth is regarding that noguns anon with the roommate - hiding guns inside is more responsible than outside. Your roommate flips out, so what, it's your residence too and they can deal with it.

>>33168555

hey /gq/ I'd like a few suggestions from you guys.

I've decided to go with a belt for convenience. I'm looking to carry a pistol with 2 mags, knife, IFAK, radio, flashlight, mulit-tool and admin pouch (for maps, markers, compass, etc.). I was also thinking of something to hold some zip cuffs, and possibly a few AR mags.

I've got a 42" waist so I figure I'd have a decent amount of real estate for gear. Is this a reasonable amount of stuff for a belt, or would I need to drop a few items?

The idea is to have a general purpose belt that I can slap on whenever I'm going to the range, heading out to camp, or even if I hear something go bump in the night. If shit ever hit the fan (it probably wont) I would use it then as well, since most gear isn't a priority for "immediate access" and all sits in my pack.

what do you guys think? looking for a few tips before I start spending money. Any suggested belts/brands/types/pouches/set-ups would be appreciated.

way too much shit. radio is heavy, admin pouch is gay
>>
>>33170481
Anything more than

>IFAK
>Pistol
>2 Pistol Mags
>Knife
>(Maybe 1-2 Rifle mags)

And youll need suspenders. Id recommend dropping quite a bit. Consider dropping the admin pouch, and the rifle mags and flashlight pouch. Also consider making the call to carry either a knife, or a multitool on the belt.
>>
>>33170849

>too much shit
any suggestion on a set up for the intended purpose?

>radio is heavy
I wear one at work all day, never thought of it has "heavy" but hey, to each his own.
>admin pouch is gay
what then? I want to have immediate access to land nav (compass, maps, grid overlay, marker/high lighter, etc.) we're on about 800 acres on deep Ky forest. a topographical map and the ability to use basic land nav skills are pretty much required for any innawoods
>>
>>33170875

I see what you're saying. Guess if I was to drop anything from the list it would be AR mags and zip cuff pouch. something to hold maps/etc. is a must (see >>33170880)
>>
>>33170481
Throw that map/admin stuff in an external pocket/pouch on your pack. Same with the radio. You will start to hate your life if you overload a belt. One or two AR mags and a pistol reload on one side, pistol on the other, IFAK wherever you can reach out with either hand (no, not on the small of your back), and your belt should be about done.
>>
>>33170880
I totally agree that land nav is needed. But that kinda stuff is more viable to carry on your chest rig or something. Becuase youll need a larger pouch (for protractor etc) and its going to really clog up the belt.
>>
>>33170880
I forget that not all radios are as big as prc 152s

but, anyways, cargoes. all of that shit are light and thin. your fighting kit is shit you need in a fight
>>
Friendly Critiques but as stated they are kinda two different set ups. My opinion doesn't mean much but if you want it here it is. After review id give a winner but like already said they are two different set ups. If I was conducting like super grey man shit id want sharks, but if SHTF and I wasn't worried about concealment id want blucarpets. Either way good quality base belts, which is the most important part.

>>33168567
How does the ifak feel on the belt? Seems like it could be a cunt hair too large.
Also my autism gets triggered with all the colors
Id probably drop an AR mag (If you have any form of chest rig or PC that you use for primary stuff)
and add a small fixed blade knife or a multitool.
Also might as well add a carabiner sicne you have the attachment point.
>>33168612
Interested to see how that belt holds up over time since its a tad small for you. Sometimes leather can be weird like that. But it looks quite nice.
Although the rigitidy of the kydex might be a plus, im curious how it feels after like 72 hours on your body. Idk, seems like those hooks might dig in to your body a bit.
Either way looks good, and im assuming next to the bleeder pouch is a multi tool pouch? If so nice, and a lot better than shilling for the entire HTC set up and nearly giving them your kidney for a belt.
>>
>>33170880
Hello fellow ky anon.

I would say you you don't have too much shit, but you will definitely want a padded belt and probably suspenders to go with it, if you aren't going to have a chest rig as well.
>>
>>33171019
>>33170880

>>33170952

>>33171054

we're on a stretch of river front property on the east side of the licking. don't plan to run a chest rig. just want something very simple and convenient to slap on around the waist for a few "essential" items that I don't want to dig through the pack for.

>>33171168
Yeah I would try to just keep mags and medical on the belt so you won't need suspenders, keep radio and maps in a kit bag type rig. In a kit bag it will be way more unobtrusive than on belt line and be quicker to access

Hey there GQ, recently, a family member who scouts out companies for investors, came to me asking for ideas regarding outdoors/survival/gear companies.

Are there any up and comers/companies you guys think should be invested in?

Let me know and I'll pass it on.
>>
>>33171376
>asking about markets and investments

Well I mean I guess you're asking the people who know what's more gucci than a business major.

To be perfectly honest Idk. It depends on if the company's listed and how willing the owner is to actually go big. Some companies that make amazing gear [not naming names] are more just an income source for worry free gym lyfe lifting than anything else.

Does anyone know where I could catch the old Grey Group Training guys? I know the question is pretty stupid, but I don't even know where to start from, how to find leads.

Back in the day, when Grey Group Training still existed, I liked to go to their store site, and just sit on the intro page, listening to this sorta ambient song they had on that page - it was a good song, very Stalker-like.

Now that they're gone, I can't seem to find the song anywhere. So I figured, I'd just ask the people who made the site in the first place. But the thing is, I have no idea who to contact and where.

tl;dr anyone know what happened to the guys running the Grey Group Training store?

Picture unrelated for attention.
>>
>>33171605
> Are most D-rings created equal?
Well, no. Completely depends on grade of steel. Check the load capacity. ~1000lb is light and I wouldn't use that for anything except light load bearing like attaching two pieces of gear together or something.

5000+ lb is really what you want to be at for suspension / repelling or whatever and easily >10000lb for parachute.

Remember that "pounds" is a measurement of force, really. So if you're 100lb, that's your weight at 1 G acceleration (~9.81m/s^2 that you feel on the surface of the earth constantly (engineers whomst set G = 9.8)). So a 1000 lb rated suspension device would allow for a maximum acceleration of 10 G. Or ~98 m/s. Sounds pretty fast but if you decelerate from terminal velocity (~60m/s) using a parachute in under half a second that will be >100m/s^2 acceleration felt (you'd probably die but stick with me) and the suspension device would break. That's at 100lb load, if you're 200lb then that goes down to 5 G maximum acceleration, so on and so forth.

From an investment standpoint, I could maybe recommend Tactical Assault Gear, SKD, TMACS inc, and Primary Arms. Kinda big fish in small ponds, but these are definitely military/tactical gear oriented. If you're looking for normcore gear companies REI pretty much has it covered, for better/worse

tl;dr Just buy FN/HK/SIG stock if you want security. All 3 have promising contracts.

I like the leg rig for innawoods stuff when I just want to keep a couple extra mags handy. I've walked a lot of miles with this sub load and way this it sits up high its not an issue.

Wearing my chicom with this plate and carrier combo my front plate always wants to ride up to my throat. If I tighten up the shoulder straps
the carrier becomes to tight and compresses my chest. I think I have to modify the chest rig to an h harness or just invest in a better carrier and shooter cut plates. Really I only wear plates because it got a sweet deal on them though.
As for pants I have Crye's and plenty other synthetic pants But just figured jeans worked for this pic.

It's only leather up front, turns into a rigger's style belt at about 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock. It's decent enough leather near the buckles, not too worried about it lasting at this point.

Since the thick Velcro under belt goes through the pant loops and sits between the outer belt and the body, you really don't feel any of the hardware loops, even when sitting.

That being said, if I'm wearing that for 72 hours straight it probably means I've died in it. Really not the type of kit I'd be covering gnarly terrain in. Serves well non-concealed as a comp and class belt. Useful as a low viz carry option if I end up needing that shit in an urban environment but want to look like a nobody. Also useful if I ever needed to grab Val Kilmer and hit up a bank I guess.

Right, I just realized I read that wrong, so that's my fuck up. I'm going to go ahead and ask for some proof because I don't buy that for a moment. I fail to imagine that for 7.8lbs you're getting an AR (assuming you're going with 14.5") with a Vortex 1-6 with mount, a PEQ-15 with batteries in, a flashlight with mount, BUIS, and all those other bells and whistles most people forget about when factorting the weight of a possible build.

>because being able to effectively use NODs and see my target with white light is inefficient.
Because you have NODs at the current moment, right? Because there are ranges open at night near you, right? Because NODs and white light work together, right? SF builds are atrociously heavy and bulky because they need all that shit because their life depends on it. Your life doesn't. Is having all of it cool? Sure, but cool and stupid are not mutually exclusive.

>10.3 inch
well lets start with it'd be a mk18 base from daniel defense which is stated to be 5.88 lbs or 94.08 oz. subtract 14.01 oz by removing the mk18 RIS and then add 10.3 oz by adding the geiselle rail. then add 25.2 oz plus another 7.2 Oz for the scope and mount. 7.5 oz for the PEQ+battery, another 4.8 oz for the surefire m300+mount+battery. which would be lighter utilizing a arisaka mount end result is 135.01 oz.
so I was off by little over half a lb. thats also using the "gucci" geiselle mount for the 1-6 though, could easily shave weight by going with something lighter.

Alright so it's a 10.3" AR rather than 14.5" like I thought, which just makes what you want even more fucking stupid because you're looking to put an x1-6 scope on a rifle that can't even effectively reach out to ranges where x6 is necessary. 8.5lbs unloaded for a 10.3" gun is laughably bad.

>whats it matter, I'm definitely buying a pair of Sentinels/DTNVGs once my house sells.
We'll see. You have a habit of "definitely" doing things up until you decide you're definitely not doing something.

>there is actually, and beyond that I can just go out innawoods and use my non restricted rifles because I'm not limited to shoot during daylight.
None I've ever seen, so that's weird to me. Even then, can't go innawoods with the AR so that's not relevant to the conversation.
>what is autogated feature so yes they do work, or I could simply look past the NODs and use the white light if I must.
I understand what autogating is, but all that realistically means is your NODs are practically cut out the second you turn on your light, meaning you've effectively done nothing more than cover your eye and waste your money. Congratulations.

>again, for a SF build that comes under 8 lbs its not bad.
>Under 8lbs
>Total unloaded: 135.01 oz, or 8.44 lbs.
That is bad, regardless of how you want to pretend it's not.

Just because SF does something doesn't mean it's good. If you want to go talk about how cool clone AR builds, go over to /arg/, I'm sure they'll love to have you back. Other than that, it's a shitty, heavy setup that's useless for anything other than LARPerating.

As much discussion that this is generating around what's 2-3 lb "extra" of rifle weight vs use it's also kinda cringy e drama that both of you look to be taking personally. Maybe go outside or something. E drama on an anime forum just isn't worth it my dudes and since I actually happen to like both of your posting' anyways don't take this as antagonizing anyways.

Do I want a smaller pack? This is the lbt 9093 and sitting just below the carry handle the bottom of the pack sits a good (I guess) 2.5" below the bottom of my pc. O could move it up and it wouldn't be an issue but then drag handle isn't as accessible. Not a huge issue since I'm not being dragged anywhere anytime soon but it's more the principle of it. Smaller pack, eagle makes one? Move it up? Molle'd on packs are retarded?

Onto relevant discussion, who makes the most compressed gauze you know of? I need like 2"x3"x0.5" at the absolute most. Having to resort to rolled at this point just to squeeze into this ifak for ants. As it stands, the blowout kit has:
-2x chest seal
-1x compression bandage
-1x gauze
-3x iodine prep pads
-8x strips of frog tape
-2x heavy duty med gloves
-1x NPA
-2x lubricating jelly packs

Really not happy with the lack of packing gauze, but need to find more for less space.

One thing I've found using the mayflower pusher chest rig is that the extra length of the overall rig sometimes likes to get caught with your sling if you run it under your arm. not a huge deal and its most likely caused by the glowsticks slightly catching it but I did find the sling under the actual chest rig a couple times.

There is a pastebin on the subject.

In short form, skills>gear.
In long form, any idiot can be a functional line medic. Learn how and when to use TQs, combat gauze, chest seals, and airways. NCD/chest tubes/crics should be left to the professionals as you can seriously reck your patients if you mess up.

Honestly, you can work miracles with 3 inch tape and rolled gauze if you have a good understanding of the body and how trauma effects it.

Do you, LORD CAPS, have any thoughts on side plates? I am not a fan, but then I am a slim guy and my unit is light infantry. I could see the merits of side plates for mounted guys or people on the civvie side doing short-range defence stuff on a farm or something. Thoughts?

I am not caps faggot, but I have thoughts on sideplates. First thing is that when I wore them in Afghanistan, they were mandatory SOP at the time, so I got quite used to them. If you're US infantry and go into combat theater with sideplates issued, you don't get to make a choice anyway. I wore a few different plate carriers before and throughout deployment time with sideplates. I personally think they are worth their weight and that if you have a good carrier, they are hardly noticeable. They don't interfere with anything really, and if you are a skinny guy you essentially get full torso protection for what is still half the weight of a full armor carrier.

I would recommend from personal use, a PIG.

There are a lot of other places on personal gear to cut weight and improve it's feel.

I really wish CSA would make one of those in 5.45 so it'd become more prevalent in canada

oh well, guess I'll make do with the type 81 in the future

If you add an ACOG and PEQ to a standard loaded M4 then yes, it'll weigh about the same, maybe half a pound more.

Either way, if you want to continue to discuss this, go to /arg/.

dont speak my words for me faggot, I can be an elitist on my own.

heavy belt rigs havent fallen out of popularity I have used smersh, which is similair to alice. Without armor its okay but with armor gg no re.

try it, its cheap and looks cool. I'd drop a canteen, replace with proper ifak, and use this with a camelbak

I really like multicam tropic combat uniforms, but gt makes woodland look so good

Who else here hasthermal? Mirror selfies edition.

I wish, dude at Grozny had thermals and helped prevent a platoon sized element from catching us off guard
>>
>>33175792
Also can anyone guess the rifle and thermal models, it should be pretty easy on the rifle and dead easy for the thermal given the watermark.
>>
>>33175804
thermals are becoming pretty affordable now, at least handheld models are
>>
>>33175880
>>33175792
Yeah the one in my pic above is only $1800 depending on where you get it.

I have one of those little hunter ones. Its great to mount on a rail somewhere and use it to reference where stuff is. I tried putting it up with a reddot behind it to see if I can get a somewhat useful setup but thats not how science works yet.

personally I'd rather just have thermals attached to NVG's though, having a dedicated weapon sight that cant look through glass is kinda a pain

I doubt the type 81 will be a better rifle than the VZ is. Norinco has a habit of shiting the bed on quality. The VZ also has a more successful track record and a aftermarket supported by US industry.

>>33175996
yeah but I can use bakelite mags in the type 81 though.

I would like one of those AN/PAS-29A that clip onto a pvs-14 if they weren't 7 grand. They even have a setting where the thermal is only an outline so you can see where your laser is on the person too. If I was wearing one of those on top of the helmet and nvg I would need to find some way to bulk up my neck, just my current setup with the pvs-14 hurts my neck after a couple of hours hiking, are there any exercises that strengthen the muscles that hold up your head with heavy shit on it?

it'll come down eventually I'm sure.

possibly, it looks like a standard AK mag though

I wear glasses, entirely blind without them. Would I even be able to wear such a thing without lasting eyesight problems? When I take off electronic vision enhancements it really fucks with my head. Wondering if they fixed this aspect yet.
>>
>>33176129
I use ballistic goggles under my pvs-14 just fine and plenty of goggles either can be worn with glasses on underneath or have adapters that put prescription lenses over your eyes under the goggles so I don't see why it wouldn't work, is your vision not correctable with LASIC? I think my laser surgery cost around the same 3k that a pvs-14 costs new out of pocket and some insurances cover it now.

No I'm not lasic eligible for another 10 years due to my eyes rapidly degrading. Its not that its difficult to combine its that when I remove it after exposed use I start to get a headache.
