Just got mine. Getting ready to go to the family farm and try to shoot out to 500y tomorrow.

It's a Smith and Wesson sport 2 with a Nikon m-223 1-4x20 scope.

I need to get a new gas block with rails that I can put a fold down front sight on. Might put railed handguards on too then. Also I'd like to get new scope mounts to push it forward a bit, out of the way of the charging handle. Decent stuff costs money though.

Anyway I'm digging it so far (just indoor ranges thus far). After leaving the Marines it's really nice to have a rifle like this again.

This is my first AR (pic related), and my only one so far. I like it just fine, but it's obvious when I bought the components, I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted...

I was thinking of just getting a gray MOE hand guard and a new gray grip, to match the weirdly gray A2 stock...would that work you think in having a not so weird looking identity crisis rifle?

imo I wouldn't go changing things just for cosmetic purposes as it looks fine as is. If you wanted some different functionality, like a free float handguard, collapsing stock, two stage trigger or whatever else, do it for those reasons. But not for looks imo, as it looks fine.

A2 stocks are gray btw. If you want a black one you could get A1 surplus, they're a little shorter and may require a different receiver extension if yours does not have the removable A2 spacer.

Looking at the internals of suppressors always makes me rage.

Even with gr 9 Ti that's like $150 worth of materials at most yet (((they))) charge upwards of $1200 for some models.

Most G rails seen on are bought on sale (many times a year). Forget about the blem sales at $99. Let's take the 25% off sale on PA.

TLDR: A G Rail is at most $27.75 - $72 more than an ALG, not including the tools (torque wrench $25-$50 needed to install the G rail) vs $5 pipe for the ALG. They cost similarly. Yes, the G Rail may be considered aesthetically superior, but ALG has undoubtedly better ergonomics. Both are strong, but ALG may be slightly stronger due to tubular nature. Just user preference
