and I was making a new thread too RIP

it was 80 degrees here last week, gonna have to transition to short shorts soon
>>
>>33143274
im sorry senpai

fukkk shorts for operating tho. The prana pants are super light weight so they are actually quite nice for summer wear. I dont really ever wear shorts unless im like swimming or something.

yeah im used to being fully clothed in super hot weather, so when im operating for fun I just wear pants and a good hiking shirt. If im actually operating I ofcourse had to wear full fatigues but either way what can ya do.

Yeah I emailed them and they said they would custom make my configuration, so thats pretty cool since they didnt have it on their website. Im just looking for a nice holster for the gunfighter belt I have coming.

Can't stop me REEE

SSO MOLLE Belt No4
It's functionally the same as any other quality sleeve type battle belt, there's not much "improvement" you can do, that being said:

Pros
>Very well made, quality stitching all around, and comfortable in use
>Incredibly cheap, sleeve itself was $25 while being on par with my old HSGI belt. Entire setup cost me under $100.
>Interesting color, SSO calls it "Olive", but it's more like a greenish MAS grey; I really like it. It also comes in EMR and SSO's Spectre for that RUSFOR look as well as woodland, Multimemeā„¢, and ATACS.

Cons
>Weaving the inner belt through all the MOLLE sections is a pain in the ass
>Not really the sleeve but adjusting the inner RS-31 belt is incredibly tiresome especially coupled with the first complaint
>You're basically stuck with SSO gear if you're trying to keep all your gear the same color

Fabric costs, production schedules, etc. It's how businesses work man. The people that manufacture probably make a lot of other stuff so he only gets a certain period of time where he can have his stuff made.

>>33144827
The belt I am replacing as soon as my new one comes in and those gloves were my cold weather shooting gloves before I learned the joy of silk weight glove liners so I can use my favorite gloves year round. The sidewinder definitely isnt my favorite, originally got it because it has an ir led but didn't realize it is only for signaling and not illumination but have kept it since it is still an adjustable head white light that can clip to my molle easily enough one handed and I tend to try to use my ir illumination and pvs-14 for most tasks and map reading that the pvs-14 un-illuminated cant handle since I figure it is good practice.

>>33144790
I'm kind of glad the rifle covers my sidearm knowing the
bantz
I would get if anyone saw it.
>>
>>33144954
I'm just sayin the side winder is notorious for falling off gear, make sure you dummy cord it to a peice of Molle if you continue to use it.

Also you can read a map without IR and if you really need it the PVS 14 (depending on which one u got and what not) has an IR illumn on it (turn the nob for power the other way one click, you'll see a red light on the inside as you look into it). But if your using IR just keep in mind you should be under atleast 3 tarps to reduce possible signature.
>>
>>33145003
Yeah I don't use the ir very much and know about the built in one, the thing on my left side of the helmet is an ir flood for indoor/unnaground work if needed.

Scored these yesterday. I already own a pair of sordin dual comms but figured I might try some comtacs. I figured I could source the Mic and downlead cables for a steal as well then realized how hard they are to source in the US (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?). Looked them up on Peltor's UK website to see that due to shipping, it's going to cost me almost as much as I payed for the headset. Still a good bit cheaper than the new comtacs on Fleabay though.

A good pack.

There's dozens of companies making good ones. If you want gearfag attention points you've got the gucci mil bag folks like mystery ranch, hill people gear, eberlstock, etc.

If you want packs that are actually comfortable the world is your oyster with regards to hiking/camping/trail packs.

You can go with a simple 24-72 hour style pack for limited use, or get a full on trail pack to cover all your bases. Need to figure out your intended use(s) and how much crap you're going to be packing at any given time.

Oh is Eberlstock not considered gucci anymore? 4 or 5 years ago that was a geardo go-to.

If I do any serious backpacking I go with companies who make hiking and camping kit. Only "tactical" pack I own is a 5.11 and that's just as a truck/range bag.
>>
>>33148111
Even then it was more fobbit gucci.
They dont make bad packs, but its become more of a gun fashion line. If your going full tin foil hat, they make pretty civvie looking packs that are great for hauling a small/brokwn down rifle around.

Anything else, just spend $25 and get a kifaru gun bearer, goes onto any molle pack.

Arcteryx, Kifaru, Mystery Ranch, hill people.

>>
>>33148324
Eh. I think Kifaru is far too fragile for how much it costs. They took the "light weight" to such an extreme it greatly impacts durability.

For regular backpacking/camping Arc'teryx is one of the best, but they kinda have weird fitment (better be a twig or it won't fit you, they don't fit muscular or fat people for shit).

I think MR is the best of the tactical packs, not super heavy but super durable with brilliant designs. Eberlestock is up there too, although at least the last time I was looking at packs they were all heavy as fuck (and my McMillan pack weighs like 11lbs empty, wtf).

Painted the NOD horn; it's not perfect, but now it matches if I so choose to wear it. Still got a ton of burlap, shoe goo, and a commercial rain cover so I'm going to make a nice camo cover for my small pack I think.

In unrelated news I got my home deadlift setup all put together so now I can DL anytime I want. Maxing out 1RM on the weight my home kit came with, so yay, time to scrounge for more plates on craigslist.

vs buying two differently sized boots? yes. Or maybe find a thicker/more supportive insole for the smaller foot.

best sock layering technique I've found is something very sheer underneath (eg gold toe) followed by thicker cotton/smartwool. Whatever floats your boat really

Do any active duty .milfags know if gear is a tax write off? I'm reading online that uniforms are not because they're authorized wear off duty (army) but stuff like pouches and plate carriers aren't, so I could file that and get reimburst by tax returns for the purchase.

Curious if anyone has done this before.
>>
>>33149822
Uniforms aren't a write off because you (theoretically) get paid a stipend which covers them all.

Trying to cover gear purchases won't work because the military issues you all the gear you "need". Trust me, my unit looked at this.
>>
>>33149822
Tax write off haircuts, your better off doing that espically if your in a unit that requires a haircut weekly
>>
>>33149822
No it isn't, because line units are issued plenty good shit, and not line units never really need gear.

To be honest, it hugs just left of the spine and even sitting down is pretty damn comfy. It's close enough it doesn't poke but just lies flat against the back.

None of us are operators and that belt's primary uses will be competition and classes. Tertiary would be a low visibility kit in the .0001% chance shit ever did go down.

If comfort is ever an issue for a classroom portion of a class, it's velcro attached to an underbelt and can be unbuckled and taken off in seconds.

This isn't that MEG thread, but it's a cringy thread anyways so I'll ask it here;
so are seals *alike* to marsoc or 75th ranger dudes then? I know the ranger's have a completely different job than seals especially but are they all similar in types and levels of deployment?
>>
>>33151814
>but it's a cringy thread anyways so I'll ask it here;

Meaning the MEG thread.
>>
>>33151814
No two units are alike. They have some cross functionality. Both are capable of some cool guy shit. They venture away from each other with the extreme ends of capabilities like the SEALs deploying from subs to take down a boat, assault a beach or secure a rig at sea. The Rangers have more DA capability by merit of numbers and how quickly they can deploy a sizable force.

Can't think about anyone in JSOC in black and white like that though. Even within the Ranger Regiment you have guys who are cutting their teeth in a battalion and are part of the "main line" Regiment all the way to seasoned guys with certs like combat diver and HALO/HAHO, the type of dudes you mind find deploying as part of the Regiment's recon sector.

As far as core strengths, Rangers are generally considered the kings of high intensity direct action. SEALs are known for their ability to operate within and from the water.

Whether it's Army or Navy, you get up to the SMU level and their skillsets are so similar that they are largely interchangeable. Many would argue that the Army's flavor of SMU is the more seasoned, and I would agree simply by merit of the average age and background of the dudes they select. You've got guys coming from a half-career of grunt work as opposed to SEALs, who have only seen and learned the SEAL way of taking care of business.

expectations btfo. You're doing quite well leaf, barrel length makes sense now. WIthout seeing rations/shelter/etc, only other critiques I have are mainly camo related (more form than function for all I care)

I rock partizan camo, just laid tiger stripe out for this pic. Have a helmet that matches (hand painted, covered in scrim). ATACS is admittedly crap but hey, by the time anyone is close enough to see my ATACS chest rig I'm in it deep anyways. Slick PC goes under the camo tunic. My rations are a combo of homemade hard tack and IMPs from work plus multivitamins and gastrolyte; shelter is a tarp or pup tent depending on season. Usually I just bivvy bag on the ground in the modular sleeping system woodland camo bag the US used to use.

I have to ask- why two pistols? I've never seen that before

pic unrelated, my dirtiest, most grimy and most slutty rifle. Nothing matches colorwise, cheek rest is hockeytaped on, retrofitted an ambi AR mag release on it and nigger rigged a fwd assist but goddamn its a dream now.

can't be sure, but I probably started thinking that a chest rig should be as self-contained as possible (have an ifak, cleaning kit, rations, and knife/multitool). The glock is secure enough with the technaclip, and I can usually find a lil spot to tuck it. Might cost me a couple mags, but having a throwaway gat can also be handy (arm/re-arm mates)

Actually kinda interested in discussing primary vs secondary ammunition ratios...and whether a tertiary gun is even worth it

>>33154368
good for you bro. nice spot for that D3CR. Can you post some pics of that? been on my mind...
>>
>>33154332
meant to add:
In all likelihood, I'd be putting on a chest rig (with glock) over my regular clothing and carry handgun, hence the 2 I usually picture. If I had time I'd probably swap the carry piece for something larger (FNS-40 or Steyr M9-A1)

Thumb stop, really nice to slide your hand up the stock and smack right in to the thumb stop. Adds a lot more tactile control in my opinion and makes grabbing the fore end after a reload more natural for me.

>>33154788
I really like that you modified your chest rig yourself; you don't see work like that too often in here. I was worried that sewing kits were becoming a thing of the past kek. If the pistol is light enough and doesn't take up too much room I can't see it being a bad idea desu

Unsubbed.

Seriously though, start with awesome normie stuff like Ghost in the Shell (1995) and Akira. Easy to digest movies with awesome content and mindblowing animation.

After that watch Cowboy Bebop (26 episodes).

All of those are easily watched and enjoyed with the English voice dubbing. If you don't like any of the above, don't bother with anime.

Had some people answer the question a while back, maybe GT will look at it. At any rate I've been looking for a mid ride holster but I don't know if that will even drop it low enough. [pic] is the space between my belt line (little high albiet) and bottom of pc. Adjusted with plates normally. Just got "Legs that come all the way up to my chest". I'm almost positive a normal on-belt-line holster would bring the pistol grip up past the bottom of my pc, which is an issue.
