why? it seems like a relatively obscure gun, was a gas piston that revolutionary?
>>33133544
to be clear, i mean the action it self not the stamped receiver
>obscure gun
>FN FS2000
A rifle only used by countries nobody cares about.
>SA80
A massive failure
>G36
Melting shit
>ARX
Shit
>ACR
Shit
>>33133564
i doubt the average AR-15 owner knows that the AR-18 exists
>>33133568
>melting shit
Fuck off Angela, you're destroying Europe.
>>33133568
What about the Type 89? It's one rifle I've heard almost nothing about.
>>33133583
You thinking the AR-18 is in any way obscure shows that you're just as naive as they are.
Why hate? 18-Chan seems like a nice girl to me.
>>33133564
Yes, he is using the word "obscure" correctly.
>>33133544
the AR-18 is not revolutionary at all, but it is highly evolved. it took a lot of good ideas and put them into one package. before anyone else.

delete system 32
It's a clean, simple design.
In-line recoil, folding stock, reliable bolt carrier guide rails (imho better than riding the bolt carrier on rails on the inside face of the receiver like so many other guns)
Bolt carrier itself is really simple to manufacture
Additionally, 3 piece piston design really is the best setup for short stroke
First off it's AR18. AR180 is just the cucked semi auto version. Likewise the FS2000 is the semi auto F2000.
The greatest flaw of the AR15 in the opinion of the military minds of old was the lack of a folding stock. Sort of a big deal at the time as it was the hot new shit. The AR18 solved that problem but was a ghetto shit gun for ghetto shit people. That's ok though, because their plan all along was selling patent rights and the AR18 was basically just a carrier for the patent. They didn't have the production capabilities to keep up with the AR15 demand and churn out quality AR18s, but still wanted more money.
P.S. Everyone educated knows about the AR18 because of the IRA.

>FS2000
Nope.
>G36
Nope.
>ARX
Nope.
>ACR
Nope.
Have you ever seen the inside of an AR-180?
>>33133656
If it hasn't been in a CoD game, no one but gun autists know about it.
>>33133733
its a tappet gas system
all those rifles use that action
>>33133607
>>33133633
He's right though.
You got to realize how many dumb and naive gun owners are out there.
>>33133564
>obscure gun
>not used by any military or featured in any piece of popular culture
>not obscure
pick one you dumb fuck
>>33133884
Just cause your mother hadn't shit you out by the time the IRA started their war doesn't mean the AR18 was never featured in every picture and article covering the event.
>>33133841
Yep, was at the gunstore today and the fucking guy behind the counter kept calling a Sterling carbine a Sten, made me reee internally.
>>33133920
>Just cause your mother hadn't shit you out by the time the IRA started their war doesn't mean the AR18 was never featured in every picture and article covering the event.
this might be news to you but ireland doesn't matter
>>33133544
I wouldn't call it obscure since it's most appearance was The Terminator
>>33133988
Move dem goalposts further bby.
>>33133544
>gas piston that revolutionary?
Yes, the gun was pretty revolutionary. Eugene Stoner perfected the direct impingement system. Arthur Miller perfected the gas piston system.
Pretty much every rifle in the last 50 years have been a copy of the AK, the AR-18, and the AR-15.
>>33133797
The AR-18 is only technically a tappet system, due to it's 2-part piston, which was done purely to facilitate disassembly of the gas system.
The SCAR is an example of a rifle with a true tappet system.

I wanted them to have some animosity between AR-18 and FAL as a reference to the troubles, IRA, etc.
>>33133544
the original design was going to use a stoner gas system but they welded the gas key hole up
>>33134021
but what about other guns like the sks?
>>33134512
The SKS was essentially a downscaled PTRS-41.
>>33134520
and how is it not the predecessor to the ar18?
>>33134542
What're you getting at? The SKS and AR-18 are in no way related.
>>33134542
it goes
AR-10
AR-15
AR-18(0)
>>33134546
the gas system.
>>33134583
lol
>>33134583
show me on an sks where it has dual guide rods
>>33134601
>show me on an sks where it has dual guide rods
>off topic
there both short stroke gas systems
>>33134614
AR-18 is a tappet system. The SKS is straight up short stroke.
>>33133780
It was never in a single Call of Duty.
>>33134816
It's never been in any video games, if Wolrd of Guns: Gun Disassembly doesn't count.
>>33134784
With a short-stroke or tappet system, the piston moves separately from the bolt group. It may directly push the bolt group parts as in the M1 carbine or operate through a connecting rod or assembly as in the Armalite AR-18 or the SKS. In either case, the energy is imparted in a short, violent push and the motion of the gas piston is then arrested allowing the bolt carrier assembly to continue through the operating cycle through kinetic energy. This has the advantage of reducing the total mass of recoiling parts compared to the long-stroke piston. This, in turn, enables better control of the weapon due to less mass needing to be stopped at either end of the bolt carrier travel.
tldr i want to fk the rabbit
>>33134832
Omg, no one fucking cares. This guy was being a retard saying the SKS influnced the AR-18 or some shit like that.
>>>>33134839
no more than the M1 garand to the AK47
>>33134784
>AR-18 is a tappet system
Not really, no. It operates like a short-stroke, it's only a tappet by technicality.
>>33133884
What is Terminator: The post.
