Just think about it for 10 seconds man, if the bullet is longer you need a bigger case to hold the same amount of powder to propel it at the same speed. Your theory is correct about longer bullets being more efficient, but you can't exactly put a longer bullet into a case without some sacrifices.

So you want a longer bullet which means that, to feed in a standard mag, you lose powder, so you lose velocity anyway.

Why?

If you make the bullet longer you either need to have less powder in the casing due to the bullet taking up more space making it less effective

Or you make the cartridge larger, which makes the guys carrying 300 of them hate you since it'd be heavier and would need larger magazines to fit the rounds

There's no benefit to this
