Honestly though, if I had that time of my life to do over, I'd take advantage of living at home and get minimum $10k in the bank which you should be able to do pretty easy in less than a year. That gives you enough for a down payment on a house and an emergency fund.
In a year you could easily own your home and get some pussy. You could make a gun room. A year is nothing.

If you get a 30 year mortgage with an escrow account only maybe $100 of a $1,000 payment actually goes to the debt ($50 on a $500payment). So you can cry about how the evil bank is charging you interest or you can double just that small part of the payment to your principal debt balance and it really is like making a double payment. So you have some flexibility there. Would it be better to save up and pay cash? Sure if you have enough cash flow to do that.

I dont really get this American aversion to family. For most of history, living with your parents was normal until marriage, and even then you'd probably have a room for your spinster great aunt or something. Its only in the last 50 years this "out on the streets the moment your balls drop" style of parenting has become normalized and it just seems kind of unnatural. Like, this forced distancing is the whole reason you have people dying lonely neglected deaths in retirement homes, when their children should be looking after them.
