Anyone on /k/ have a Ruger Super Blackhawk opinion? I've been thinking about getting a Redhawk or a Smith 29 in .44 mag for a while, but I found a couple guys selling Blackhawks for around $400 in good shape.
How are these things to shoot? Would I find myself wanting a modern .44 or would I fall in love with SA shooting?
I got the New Model Super Blackhawk.
I like the way it shoots.
I bought a 44 for more precise long distance shooting, so ended up going with a Blackhawk. Single action doesn't bother me because I'm never really eager to blaze through 44 both for cost and comfort.
It didn't leave me wanting for a DA/SA 44, but I did end up getting a 357 later for higher volume, higher speed shooting.

How comfy is the civil war grip to hold with such a powerful round?
goddamn, just looking at one of those son of a bitches again makes my wrist sore.
try wiping your ass with arthritis in your wrist when you get a little older.

It fills my hand pretty well, I was surprised to find. I find it to be comfortable. Definitely get your hands on one before you commit to one though.
If you don't like the Super Blackhawk grip try one with the Bisley grip- it puts the gun way lower in your hand, and the recoil is straight back.
If you look around a used SBH will probably be the cheapest way into shooting .44 magnum.
