What's K's opinion of the Mosin Nagant?

Are they garbage or worth having around?
A rough but reliable tool, or a crude piece of trash?
>>
>>33120847
>A rough but reliable tool, or a crude piece of trash?

These are not mutually exclusive.
>>
>>33120847
They're a rough, crude, reliable piece of trash tool.
>>
>>33120847
It's the garbage rod. If you can have it for <$150 then sure, enjoy your memes. If not then don't bother.
>>
The same as it is when somebody starts this exact same fucking thread every three days or so.
>>
>>33120847
They're really nice. Russians used them as sniper rifles for a reason. Can't beat'em for the price range.
>>
>>33120847
I picked up a nugget last weekend for $250. Damn thing looks like a new rifle, no wear on the metal except on the end of the barrel where the bayonet attaches, and the wood is perfect. All matching #s Izzy with matching bayo. Is there any way to determine if my nugget has been rearsenalled, because I have a hard time believing that it never seen any action.
>>
>>33120968
Nope, there's a high chance the only action that rifle saw was the inside of a barrel covered in cosmoline.
>>
>>33121006
But my rifle wasn't caked in Cosmo, it just has a little red Cosmo on the bolt and on the internals. It still has wood shavings it the sling holes. Molot rearsenal maybe?
>>
What's the difference between the M44 and the M39? Why are M39s 900 LeafBucks and M44s are around 450 LeafBucks?
>>
>>33121068
>>
>>33121097
M39 is older, and maybe less imported?

Mine groups decently enough at 100m, not bad for a $150 rifle.
>>
>>33120847
>What's K's opinion of the Mosin Nagant

It's junk, When you could get one for less than $100, it was a fun hobby toy or a vaguely interesting wall hanger, but after the K98, 03A3, and Enfield Surplus was depleted, cheap fucks started buying Mosins because they were cheap and worthless.

Now, they cost as much as real weapons, and assholes are still driving up the price.

kek, nuggets are junk.
>>
>>33121097
the m39s are finnish made. much better manufacturing and better accuracy
>>
Could guerilla's use nuggets to harass a conventional army from a distance with hit and run tactics?

I can hit chest sized steel plates at 250yards reliably with irons with mine. Good enough for me.

The amount of hate it gets is pretty funny.

Yes, the viet cong did it to us soldiers in Nam would be one example

A Mauser, Enfield, Arisaka, or Carcano will be better. Hell, a 308 Savage will be all-around better in a sporter package with a cheaper but ballistically equal cartridge.

Ridiculous idea.

Could this work in the U.S.?
>>

I can hit a 36" steel gong at 1,000 yards at my range with a 03A3 with iron sights.
>>
>>33121329
Nope
>>
>>33121340
Congrats man.
>>
>>33120847
Very powerful and accurate rifles. But crude peices of shit. Just plain brutal to operate. Mauser and Enfeild rifles are light-years ahead of Mosins. With that said though, any surplus collector needs to have them in their collection.

Solid rifle. Common caliber means ammo will never be an issue, unlike most milsurps.
>>
>>33121367
>Very powerful and accurate rifles.

No more "powerful" than the other countries ammunition of that era.

Accuracy? That was NEVER a priority with communist regimes.
>>
>>33120847
A good rifle that held up well for the wars it was in and is comparable to its peers. While not the best, it is not bad.
>>
>>33121383

Yeah you're right. Seems like a mystery to me.

very interesting, I bought one very similar to yours earlier this year.... this is before I cleaned the cosmoline off of it, pic related.

They used to be fantastic babbys first full size rifle until they started going above $180, IMO.

God dammit, I'll never have another chance to get a $89 Mosin again. BUT! I at least got my Kar98k, my childhood favorite rifle.

Still on the battlefield today, used by top commanders. Why the hate?
>>
>>33121861
There was hardly any cosmoline on mine, just some red cosmo like what was on my wasr 10
>>
>>33121853
But that's a Remington mosin, which is much rarer than the other 43-44 mass produced mosins, so it makes sense it's going for a collector price
>>
>>33121950
The only mosin that is worth more would be a Westinghouse made one.
>>
>>33121950
They're not all that rare. Uncommon at best. They made at least 500k.
>>
>>33121975
Or a Chatellerault. Or a 1907 Carbine. Or a 91/38. Or any number or rarer variants/makers.

Worth buying if you love memes, Not worth buying if you only want guns for their practical value.

All the anti-nuggers just hate fun and can't appreciate novelty.
>>
good, cheap fun.

will absolutely, positively kill someone standing in your basement stealing your memes.

Personally, I traded my Tula a couple of spamcans and a PS2 for a Winchester 94 Ranger and never looked back
>>
>>33121984
Or Albanian versions, just for the fact that very little of Albanian surplus gets imported. I have a couple of Albanian ak mags that are worth some $$$
>>
>>33121976
Yes that's not very rare but compared to the 80 odd million produced it looks alot better numbers wise
>>
>>33122424
You're about 50 million high there chief.
>>
>>33121097
The M44 is a Soviet-made carbine variant with a folding bayonet. They were mass produced for the Soviet army and thus remain fairly common.

The M39 is a Finnish-made rifle. They were produced only for the Finnish army and are not as common as other Mosin-Nagant variants. They are known for being manufactured with higher quality than the Russian Mosins, as well as just being produced in fewer numbers. Thus, the price is higher.
>>
>>33120847

got a matching Tula 1932 and 240 round spam can for $190 total.

It's fun to shoot, reliable, accurate enough, and a cool part of history no matter how many were made.

Even at the increased $200/rifle, they arent bad. What else are you going to buy at that price point that is a full powered rifle with cheap ammo??
>>
>>33121918
What about the m1895 lever?
>>
>>33120847
Fucking garbage

Gewehr 98 is better in every conceivable way
>>
>>33120933
Steyr M95 is way better considering what people ask for a Nugger these days.

I believe most accuracy problems are barrel and sights, especially from war used and recovered with latest yet very good laminated stocks before reserve stored. Otherwise if any 91/30 just had better sights in general than it would have been a great adaptable rifle for both medium and close ranges. I have yet to know the problem of my rifle, I believe it is barrel related.

It's a perfectly fine rifle which doesn't deserve the hate that it gets.

The quality and condition of the individual rifle however will ultimately be the biggest deciding factor of the difference from its peers.

For example, I've shot my friend's completely shot-out, practically smoothbore 1942 izhevsk, and had trouble hitting anything past maybe 50 meters, however the practically-unshot 1943 tula sniper that I have consistently lands very tight groups even past 250 meters, likewise for my very nice and almost untouched 1938 izhevsk, though it's a bit harder because it only has irons (as opposed to the scoped tula). My sniper tula is far superior in accurate shots to my 1938 berlin mauser kar98k, even though the mauser does have a nicer fit and finish, and the mauser is surprisingly about on par with my 1938 izhevsk.
>>
>>33120968
If it's a 91/30 it's almost certainly rearsenaled.

Make sure to clean the cosmoline out thouroughly. If you get stickybolt after this then your cocking spring is too long, clip off one or two coils or get a replacement.

>>33121097
M44 has carbine barrel and folding bayonet.

M39 is Spurdo capturing/buying/stealing 91/30s from Vatnik and upgrading them so that they're actually kind of nice and not horribly mediocre.
>>
>>33120847
>>33123830
I forgot to add the point of that these all vary in condition, as some might have been practically untouched, sitting cozily in some non combatant's hands, some may have seen limited combat, whereas probably the vast majority have been to hell and back.

Just out of a guess, I would imagine that mosins would have seen more hours of usage on average compared to other nation's service rifles, comparable only to eastern front mausers.
>>
>>33121171
A lot of (if not all) M39s were not manufactured in Finland.

>>33121236
I think a lot of the dislike came from poorfag memelords who endlessly spouted that it's a rifle that can do everything and anything, some to the point that they convinced themselves, and some still continued well after they had gone up in price and kept insisting it's the #1 rifle for beginners, ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES, when there are numerous commercial options for a little bit more which beats the fuck out of it.

It used to be a pretty good poorfag gun though.
>>
>>33121329
Maybe, but unless you live innahood you can afford a much better rifle.

>>33121742
Assuming they don't find you, popping off a shot and hiding/escaping can still kinda work.
>>
>>33120847
Rifle is fine
>>
>>33122779
A Savage and some cheap Tula/Wolf .308

Or step up to a Ruger American.
>>
>>33123828
A lot of the 91/30s were refurbished/rearsenaled and not always to the highest standard, I'd be willing to blame alcolohic communist slave labor.
>>
>>33120847
definitely worth owning for the history and such. but if it is going to be your only rifle, meh just spring for a mauser
>>
>>33121123
what model is it and any mods? what ammo is that shooting
>>
>>33123871
They'll find you after you fire a single shot. Its a pretty loud gun.
>>
>>33122731

This. Finnish m/39 is better design for most purposes, have better built quality and if we compare total production of the rifles the ratio was about 1 : 76.
