Anyone had any experiences with the Gibbs M1903A4 reproduction?
I finally found a range in my state with lanes going out to 1000yds, and I really want to get into long-range shooting. I'm trying to decide between getting one of these and plinking out to 600yds or so or getting a Savage varmint rifle. But with the Savage I'm looking at probably $1000 for the gun and then half that for the optic.
Plus I really like the scopes A4s originally came with. And I think the minimal magnification (2.5x) will really help with my marksmanship.
I'm also partial to the Gibbs because I love milsurp but sadly I can't afford an actual Springfield right now, and even if I could, I want this to be a "beater" gun that I don't have to worry about shooting out the barrel and getting it dinged. A general-purpose field rifle that I can use for hunting and target practice alike

I never said that I planned on shooting 1000yds, just that the range goes out to that far. And I already shoot at 400yds with irons, what is so unrealistic about hitting a target at 600yds with 2.5? Sorry you're shit at shooting but other people aren't
