You should have at least one spare mag, just in the off-chance you get a double-feed and need to remove the loaded mag. Two spares in a double mag pouch is also perfectly practical. More than that is getting into mall-ninja territory. A pistol and 5 mags is a fair amount of weight and mass to be carrying all day, erry day. Especially on top of all the other crap people EDC.
