What method does /k/ reccomend for reblueing an entire rifle?

What have you been doing to it? The fact that you've had to ask this question in the first place suggests to me that you don't really know what you're doing.

The answer is rust bluing, but it's a lot of work and required significant preparation.

All i've done as of yet has been stock refinishing and cleaning, i'm just looking for ideas on how to refinish it as i have seen it done many different ways

My advice is don't, the rifle is probably still fine if you haven't sanded the stock. History has made it the way it is, all you're going to do by refininishing it is a) ruin any value it had apart from as a shooter b) make it look like shit because you don't know what you're doing and/or c) fuck it up badly enough that it becomes a wall hanger or scrap.

Post a pic of your rifle OP, I have a 1916 BSA and the bluing is worn but it gives the rifle character.

considering it has been already sporterized, refinishing and restocking it seems the way to go for me, but to each their own, if it had a worn but desirable finish and original wood i wouldn't dream of touching it

Fair enough. I recommend you strip it down with metal sand paper and see how it turns out with new wood . if it's still not to your liking, some parts might work with a powder coat or you could look into ceramic coating. high temp spray paint is still just spray paint at the end of the day and will scratch off.

Sounds good, i've already started to refinish the stock with sanding and varnish, it's really bringing out the wood grain. Just need to wait on a forend and topwood
