Show me old weapons still used after technology passed them by.
This Chinese soldier had a sword.
Debateable if bayonets are outdated or not. Pic is from 2004 fallujah
I heard some in the US gov wanted to ship bolt actions to the Mujahideen for the sake of ammo efficiency.
Using elephants as weapons dates back thousands of years.
>>33097413
all weapons can be brought into current times
There's a bunch of StG-44s in Syria
>>33097670
>mfw a durka durka jihad can get one but I can't
apparently some chinese units still have swords
>>33097719
I dont know if anybody actually used lances in WWI, but they had them. I think horses are still useful in war though.

How about this Brazilian Cop still using a Madsen LMG?

Anyone else here ever watch The Warrior's Way? Criminally underrated movie.
>>33097437
The m7 bayo on an a1 isn't that bad and if anything makes the rise feel non-existent when you shoot, but those bayonet'd kabars strapped to a long ass rail with other shit strapped to it with a flat top upper must make an already unbalanced feeling gun somehow impossibly more awfully balanced.
LeF 18 howitzer in service in Syria. No idea where the fuck the snackbars get the ammo for such an old piece.
>>33097575
Wouldn't the noise scare the elephant into fleeing?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62_Tkiv_85
>Though the 7.62 TKIV 85 sniper rifle has been modified extensively compared to the standard Mosin–Nagant rifle, the use of the old receivers in these rifles makes them arguably the oldest small arms in current use by any military. Some of the parts used may date back as far as the 1890s.
Ammo/spares issues aside, why is it a bad to use old gun?
>>33103270
Historical Value.
>>33103270
It's not really bad, just not ideal.
Obsolete but still functional weapons should never be completely discounted.

>>33103270
Well, if the enemy's weapon can hit your head accurately from 100 yards further away than your weapon, then that is bad. If the enemy can lay down suppressing fire with one man while you need a whole squad to do the same, then the enemy has almost a squad to flank you with. If your gun needs complicated cooling and your enemy can carry his while cooling, then that is bad. From ten feet away it matter less but very little fighting happens at that range.

It hurts
>>33103428
Not to worry, o elephant. The manlet does not have a saddle, which means he and his gun will fall off as soon as you start walking. Which means that just because a picture is old it can still be staged.
>>33097670
What the fuck is that contraption?
>>33097779
You see a sword, I see a machete.

Looks like a remotely-operated turret. P. impressive, actually.

I think after ww2 Germany sold a bunch of manufacturing shit for their weapons to Syria. That's why you see shit like sturmgewehr and other old German weapons all over the place.
Israel captured a number of panzer IVs from the Syrians during the six day war.

Some people have developed some kind of immunity after being exposed from it for so long

The Stg.44s were Soviet-captured equipment. They would hand that stuff out like candy to anyone with political ideologies that favored the Soviet Union.
Kek. No one is posting the M2?
>>33103660
USSR used to dump German weapons to commie friends. Wasn't there MP40s in Vietnam too?
I find it hard to believe that they would have manufactured real weapons in a sandland.
>>33097779
They use swords and other melee weapons for crowdcontrol in some conquered place.
>>33097933
What advantages does a horse have over vehicles? Not saying you're wrong, I'm just interested

Excellent terrain management. Can navigate you back to safety even when you're seriously fucked up or unconscious. Quiet. Will whinny and nicker while you fiercely plug its butt after a stressful day.
>>33106177
They can go places most vehicles can't, which makes them useful for jungles.
>This Chinese soldier had a sword.
He also had highly questionable ammo resupply!
If it looks stupid but works, it's not stupid.

>even stone-age African tribes have "that guy"
>>33106177
Not for assaults or charges but they are excellent for patrolling, particularly for COIN ops. A man on a horse can cover much more territory than an unmounted man without the logistical footprint of a vehicle and still be somewhat stealthy. Plus as >>33106358
and >>33106363 said they can handle more difficult terrain than a vehicle. Rhodesia, Portugal and the US have used horses in their insurgency wars.
Many modern militaries (including the US) also still train with mules for mountain warfare and I assume they would use them in a near-peer conflict. Although that isn't using them directly for combat and mules aren't exactly horses.
>>33106343
The US supplied a lot of WWII weapons to South Vietnam. M2/M3 carbines stayed around with US SF until CAR's became widely issued.

Our AA-rangefinders in 2007 still had swastikas(the german ones, not finnish air force) on them which were just thinly painted over. I think their manufacturing date was sometime in the 1930s.
I'm going to assume they have been retired from active training use alongside our old school ZU--23-2s.

Absolutely beautiful German construction of a rifle. Truly ahead of their time.
Wonder where this guy found this beaut?
>>33097437
Bayonets are used to shave when you're looking down the barrel of the gun to check if it's loaded.
Saves some time.

In this case... Actually ideal.... static defense with a water cooled MG with low ROF. These fuckers own territory.
>>33106177
Scouting role. The Germans and the Russians used mounted patrols for long range recon on the eastern front.
Horses walk through forests, swim rivers, and traverse sand. Wild breeds do so without excessive oats or barley.
Also.... horse is much easier to eat that Sdkfz 151
