Sometimes I think maybe 5.56 isn't enough for ayyliens. What would be the ultimate small arm for the eventual alien invasion of earth?

We really need to standardize .338 lapua AR's
Remember that one mission in Enemy Within where they leveled that fishing village with bombers?
Do that literally every time ayys land.

For all we know aliens are going to be tiny frail shits and only prepared for energy weapons.

Your pic demands at least 20mm though, Rpg being best
>>33096391
Why would they even have to land?
If ayys manage to reach earth and invade it, it implies they have way superior technology and we are fucked anyway.
Look at the gap between here and the 60's, even ignoring the breakthrough of nuclear devices 2 decades before that.
Best scenario being they went full liberal and start handing out gibs while providing qt aliens to cuck them with
>>33096480
>all it takes for communism to work is a complete takeover by a vastly superior alien race
Of course.
Aliums won't take Earth with their actual physical bodies
Are you insane? Risking real death?
Fuck that, if ayys come, it's going to be robotic in nature
They're likely already here in that regard

They're here and they're watching
Since we aren't dead and we've made radio, they must be friendly

Yeah, it was a Harry Turtledove thing.

>>33098478
>sewing machine oil
this blocks up the spiracles of many insects and arthropods
.eg they can no longer breathe
>diatomaceous earth
desiccates and abrades the joints and plates of creatures with exoskeletons
pretty much gives them instant arthritis
>bicarbonate of soda
neutralises the acid based communication of some Eusocial Insects
only works for a short time
>vinegar or salt
deals damage to any exposed injury
.eg missing limbs

Well bear in mind boys. It could happen at any day at any time of any place. Trans Dimensional invasions have higher probability than someone from outer space coming here. The only problem with Trans Dimensional is; What if they're the technologically superior one. Other shit like Orcs or opposite humans or whatever fatasty shit comes through that dimensional portal rift would 9/10 be more so an accident. Either we end up opening it or they do.
>>33096605
which is retarded, because many technological advances are interdependent with other technological advances in totally unrelated fields.
an example of this is how much and fast things like transportation, communication, weaponry, etc. will change and advance when we start realizing truly powerful, lightweight, and long lasting batteries, which is dependent on advances and breakthroughs in chemistry and manufacturing techniques

How do we know aliens aren't clueless about dealing with human small arms and their body armor is literally just a current interruptor for energy weapons
>>33102175
It'd be kind of weird for ayys not to develop kinetic weapons.
>>33102213
I read a book that had a highly advanced near god like race encounter a comparable race, who for one reason or another had been almost wiped out millennia ago, they had no counters to each others weapons, as they'd reached similar levels of tech, but in totally different ways.
It also has people living in a world that is separated by layer's, with different stages of development on each one, during one part, people who are roughly medieval tech fight people of a slightly higher tech and win. But that's mainly plot armour.
>>33101470
Its the same argument that showcases how without firearms we wouldn't have combustion for cars and rockets.
Heck, you could make the argument that without the increased development of firearms manufacturing wouldn't have developed in the same manner as it did.
Weapons/Military technology pushes forward much of the technology that we end up using in our day to day lives. More so than a lot of people give credit for.
>>33096362
He who owns the orbitals owns the planet.
It is that simple.
Small arms are irrelevant against KEW, and rocks are cheap. So, to answer you question - we need space capable assets, or it is just game fucking over.
>>33096605
iirc the book goes something like this:
>ayys progressed slowly and never fight anyone with more than ww1 tech
>ayys send probe to earth
>probe arrives in like 1300
>ayys extrapolate their tech progression and figure we will be in the iron age when they arrive
>ayys arrive
>humans locked in ww2
>ayys go "fuck me" because the allies and axis put aside their differences
>ayys with Vietnam war tech are suddenly dealing with infinite Soviet/US/Nazi/Jap hordes
>AXAXAXAXAXAXA/LOLOLOL/SIEG HEIL'ing intensifies
may not be that exact book but it was a similar one
>>33102454

Harry turtledove's worldwar series
>>33102472
its kinda retarded, yeah.
Early on the ayys have no idea how to into war cuz the other ayys all folded like paper towels and were so weak. eventually they drop small comets, and i think the book ends with the Manhattan Project teaming up with the Nazi rocket program to build a nuke-tipped super V2 or something to kill the mothership.
then the humans reverse engineer the ayytech and go to the ayy homeworld later in the series

Please stop thinking that aliens would be like gods to us. If any aliens ever show up here, they will likely be amazed that they even made it here. Their ship will be just as fragile as anything we can build because everyone plays by the same rules of physics in this universe. They won't be equipped for war with a civilisation as advanced as ours and probably wouldn't want to start one while they're vulnerable and exhausted of resources at the end of a long journey. They would be forced to ask us for permission to settle and again be forced to share technology with us. If they still wanted to kill everyone for some reason, calling for backup is lolno tier, because the time it would take means humans would be more than advanced enough to repel it by the time it reached the solar system.
>>33102654
In Xenonauts, they are.
>>33102849
On the note that this guy brought up, there's a number of distinct possibilities about aliens and relative tech levels. Forgoing the rather depressing possibility that we are utterly alone, I'll bring up 3 possibilities that it seems usually aren't considered as often.
1. We are technologically ahead of the curve. While it may seem a bit unlikely given the more fanciful portrayals of aliens in Sci-fi mediums, this is still a possibility. We've not heard from any aliens because we're the first in our area to start talking via radio.
2. We're at rough parity with our neighbors and thus cannot reasonably reach them. Given the limitations of radio communication and the vast lengths of interstellar space, it's quite possible we just haven't heard from anyone because they're just that far away. If it takes 50 years for us to get a signal to their star via radio, then it's at least a minimum of 50 more years for them to decipher the signal and message back. Think of the song Message in A Bottle.
3. Aliens are utterly uninterested in us. If they're as godlike and powerful as some believe, then they've probably already harnessed the entirety of their solar system and have little to no need or interest in a primitive species. They may not even bother to see us as a threat or worth notice at all.
And of course there's the various other possibilities to answer the Fermi Paradox such as the long night scenario in which a calculating species with no compassion tends to send relativistic welcoming presents to new arrivals on the galactic stage. Or that intelligence with consciousness is actually the norm. As it is, there's a lot of unknowns.
