What are your favorite media buzzwords? Mine are the most obvious

>assault weapon

Have you ever encountered someone who uses these in person?

Huh, apparently assault rifles were 100% legal in Maryland before Sandyhook. Thanks NPR!

what do you call this then?
>>
>>33096048
Didn't realize detachable magazine was a buzzword.
I have customers ask sometimes if we have assault rifles. Some I may joke with if I know they won't take it personally. I told some people that were VERY new to guns asking about "AR assault rifles" that AR stood for Armalite Rifle they acted like that was a revelation.

No one can ever explain why a detachable magazine is a bad thing.

In the KG-99 manual where it calls the foregrip an "assault grip"

jfc
>>
>>33098263
Seems redundant or unnecessary, like 'portable wallet' or 'illuminating flashlight'
>>
>>33098195
As in they're new to guns and looking to buy an AR or just have general questions? I like taking the time to talk to people who are genuinely curious but when you get an adamant anti-funner they won't hear any of it. I've seen more people flip shit when telling them background checks are already required for firearm purchases than I would like to remember
>>
>>33100106
some firearms don't have detachable magazines, you understand this, right?
>>
>Weapons of war

Any time they describe any weapon or feature like this.

Like nigga it's a gun. What the fuck else is it gonna be? Ticklish?
>>
>>33096091

The irony is that the left is not banned at all and 100% legal to own.
>>
>>33096085
>>Need
This is a good question, especially if you're a poorfag, apartment dweller, etc.

Why do you NEED an automatic rifle if you can barely make rent as it is? Why do you NEED a CC when you have nothing worth stealing? Why do you NEED explosives or big-bore weapons when you aren't attacking hardened or large targets? so on, so forth

>>33096091
ive only ever heard phrases like those from yankees 2bh

even deus ex, which literally used "Assault Guns" in the script of the first two, dropped it when Eidos (a FUCKING QUEBECOIS COMPANY) made Deus Ex Human Revolution
>>
>>33100595
>the left is not banned at all
a lot of municipalities ban the use of tracked vehicles on roads because of undue wear on the pavement, actually. additionally, the lack of signalling lights and certain occupant safety features makes most tanks not road legal.

but double-ironically, actual military operated tanks and APCs hastily tack on those features for use on highways. At the very least, most are made to be equippable with road wheels instead of tracks for highway travel.

>assault weapon
>high capacity
>semi-automatic
>rapid fire

>assault vest

>high capacity

>assault vest
but thats a thing

not only is it also just another way to refer to tac vests or very small backpacks intended to clip to tac vests, but it's also an accessory in pokemon that is implied to basically be a flak vest intended for use in storming operations (iirc it boosts defense in exchange for disallowing the use of moves that don't do damage)

>common sense
you know you can just say that someone's "common sense" is incorrect and not so common, right?

>high capacity
but that's also a real thing, more than 30 rounds is considered a lot to carry in one magazine since most >30 round mags upset the balance of whatever they go into significantly, or worse, have problems feeding or are prohibitive to carry in normal pockets. and what is "high capacity" shifts in definition as magazine technology either improves, or shifts context between rounds????

>high powered rifle
. Media uses this to describe what I would consider very standard rifles like .308 and .223 caliber weapons. Save that for when someone goes on a shooting with a .338 at least.
>>
>>33100910
Oh god, its always with the "high powered" and its always a .223 they're talking about, by definition a medium powered rifle

It's a detachable magazine, verbatim

>>33098263

You guys do realize that internal magazines are a thing right? AKA the SKS, the Mosin Nagant, the Mauser 98k, etc. etc. etc. There are many weapons that have an internal magazine of some kind.

>No one can ever explain why a detachable magazine is a bad thing

It used to be a metric during the AWB to determine if a gun was one of their mythical assault guns.

People acted as if regular "huntin' raffles" didn't have them, and only the scary ones did.

>>33096048
>Bulletproof vests should be illegal for civilian possession because it means criminals will just be impossible to kill and they'll kill more people!

>>
>>33102133
*doesn't mean it hasn't
>>
>>33102162
Gun owners are the biggest problem when it comes to silencers. Most have no idea why they were banned. So they jump into stupid arguments about public safetly or what have you. It was because of poaching. So any argument about protecting people from assasins or whatever James Bond bullshit someone wants to argue is irrelevant. Don't even entertain that argument. Simply remind them that poaching is no longer a serious problem in the United States. No need to bring up Al Capone or Elliot Ness or any other Hollywood fantasy.
>>
>>33102162
I've had fudds at the gun shop, and regular people say that the NFA process is what police have to do, and that you have to "know someone" to vouch for you.

>Regular people just don't buy suppressors!
>>
>>33102221

I genuinely didn't know that was the reason, or at least one of them. I assumed it was fear based on action movies. It makes sense though. Thanks for the info, I'll tuck that one away.
