There needs to be a low velocity 50 caliber revolver cartridge. Such a cartridge would offer unparalleled stopping power without the need for hollow point bullets and tolerable recoil. Hopefully, a better mousetrap will eventually sell itself.

You could always get a revolver chambered for .50AE and use moonclips. And besides that the concept seems to be an answer in search of a question. There are a ton of established calibers to choose from that are all virtually the same when it comes to civilian carry purposes.
