Has anyone built one of the Palmetto state armory kits? I'm looking at picking one up with a local lower and was wondering if anyone had an opinion.
>>
>>33074759
If you're poor and that's not PTAC I can think of worse stuff to buy.
>>
>>33074759
What's the cost of those new?
>>
>>33074759
Where's the buffer?
>>
>>33074766
not poor, just only able to spend around 600 total
>>33074771
$399 plus the $50 lower
>>33074779
right side of pic?
>>
>>33074781
There is no buffer there. Make sure it's included or you'll have to buy one.
>>
>>33074759
My AR is a PSA kit on an Aero lower, works fine and the LPK seemed to fit in fine without any issue.
>>
>>33074790
this is me jumping to conclusions here but.... i would assume it is in the tube with you know... the buffer spring. dont be so daft.
>>
>>33074790
the website states that it has a buffer (tube)? I'm new-ish to guns and don't know a whole lot

>Lower Build Kit: Includes Mil-Spec MOE FDE Stock, MOE FDE grip, MOE FDE Trigger Guard, Palmetto State Armory Freedom Lower Parts Kit and Mil-Spec diameter buffer tube assembly. Everything you need to finish your stripped lower!
>>
>>33074804
If the buffer was in the tube the spring wouldn't be exposed like that
>>
>>33074804
I guess it could be reversed in the buffer tube but that's a stupid way to show a product.
>>33074810
Well "buffer tube assembly" should include a buffer, that's why you always make sure to read product descriptions.
>>
>>33074790
>>33074804
>>33074814
I think it comes with the actual buffer and they just forgot to picture it. I ordered a similar kit and it came with.
>>
>>33074836
I think it would be this, Because the bolt also isn't included but people who do videos always have it in there.
>>
>>33074840
The BCG is in the upper where it should be. The buffer isn't where it should be, hence the questions.
>>
>>33074794
How is the aero lower? I'm told it's more narrow than most.
>>
>>33074856
Aero lowers are good.
>>
>>33074856
It seems normal/milspec to me. It's all my LGS has so that's why I got it, but it seems fine for what it is.
>>
>>33074854
And you can tell that by...? the charging handle being in place?
>>33074884
>>33074889
The one I got to handle felt super light, is it that way once it's built up or does that kinda go away?
>>
>>33074906
I think all lowers are super light when it's just the lower you're holding
>>
>>33074759

They're good to go
>>
>>33074918
Doesn't that make the recoil worse? or is that all in the barrel (not retarded just don't know)
>>
>>33074950
No? It's only a .223, it's got negligible recoil as is.
>>
>>33074986
Still haven't shot one so have no idea, but thanks :)
>>
>>33074906
>And you can tell that by...? the charging handle being in place?
Yes.

I have, its changed after a while but it started as a PSA.
>>
>>33075104
Did you change for taste preferences? or was there function issues? Basically this would be my wife's gun in the SHTF.
>>
>>33075114
If you can find a mid length lightweight upper version, that would be a good idea.
>>
>>33074906

dude, AR lowers are made of aluminum, of course they're light when you're just holding a stripped lower without any steel trigger components in it.

All forged alum uppers and lowers only come from a couple different forges. If they're made to milspec they are all dimensionally identical for all practical purposes.
>>
>>33075122
is there particular brand that you'd recommend?
>>33075125
I thought the cheap ones were steal? and the expensive ones were billet aluminum?
>>
>>33075156

I changed based of my specific usage of it. The base rifle once assembled and fitted with a good sight or optic is highly serviceable. They really are excellent kits/ rifles once assembled.
>>
>>33075184
ah
>>33075197
well that's good to know. What's a good optic? was looking at the Monstrum 4x sight
>>
>>33075334
Monstrum is an airsoft-tier brand and if this is going to be your wife's SHTF gun then you'll want to spend more money on an optic. Look at Vortex, Primary Arms and maybe Bushnell for cheap optics. But make sure you have a decent set of irons first. The kit doesn't come with a rear sight.

I have 4 PSA kit rifles currently. Had 5 but traded one for a c93. They are good rifles. I've had expensive AR-15's like RRA and never noticed any difference.

My first rifle got close to 3k rounds through it before I cleaned it. Worked just fine.

It takes about 20-30 minutes to assemble. These are Anderson and PSA lowers.
>>
>>33075156
>is there particular brand that you'd recommend?
Just find another PSA deal.
>>
>>33075381
Was gonna pick up the magpul rear sight. just looking at amazon reviews as far as Monstrum goes.

>>33075474
If you're looking at a 4x you might also consider the Primary Arms 3x or even the 5x prism scope, they also have a decent 1-6x tube scope that is supposed to be good as well.
>>
>>33075474
Dont trust Amazon reviews on scopes. 9 times out of 10, it's some 10 year old with an airsoft gun
>>
>>33074790
the buffer is included, they just put it in the tube backwards to keep it together
>>
>>33075714
This thread has been great. Not op but I am buying a complete upper next week from them. Does anyone know if they took the faggot that was stealing cc info out back and strung him up by the dick yet?

this started as a psa mid length moe upper
>>
>>33075402
The top rifle has a Primary Arms 2.5x prism scope. It is perfect for an AR. The camo one is a UTG big buster 3-9, the stainless with bipod is my wife's rifle. I think it is a Bushnell optic or something. The bottom one is a b-squared carry handle.

Overall I like optics much more than irons. Even a little magnification helps.
>>
>>33075748
OP here, it's been very informative, thanks for everything /k/
>>
Just got a lower parts kit from them and I'm pleased so far
>>
I just ordered a completed upper with bcg and ch from them this past weekend they had a good sale. Should be here tomorrow. Got psa parts in a ruger 556 lower waiting for it.
>>
>>33074759
Midlength can have issues with steel cased. Carbine, rifle and pistol have worked good.

Wouldn't get a midlength with a barrel shorter than 18. Get a nice pencil barrel while they're currently on sale.
>>
>>33075949
I got a complete Anderson lower a while back and a guy is buying an upright bass from me next week. Will be buying a complete PSA upper w bcg/ch and will be sub $500 for complete rifle. Apparently these guys don't think they're too bad. So I'm a bit excited.
>>
>>33075989
>Midlength can have issues with steel cased
No.
>>
>>33075992
I'll be in about 550 for mine. It's my first build and I'm so fucking excited. Taking it out this weekend to see how it shoots
>>
>>33075989
Never had a problem with steel case out of my mid length beater PSA AR
>>
>>33076137
>>33076378
Guess I've gotten lemons.
>>
I think I'm around 1200rd through my midlength PSA MOE rifle kit build. Only "failure" was when I ripped about 3 magazines through it rapid fire, then let it cool with a round in the chamber; the round got stuck as fuck due to thermal expansion. No other issues though, it's run like a top. Accurate enough to hit water bottles at 200m with a red dot too.
>>
If I buy a complete assembled upper and a complete assembled lower from PSA, what type of assembly do I have to do myself?

>>33074759
Yes, get the MLOK one and it's a good rifle for the price. You can save $50-$100 over an off the shelf AR. Here's mine right after I first built it on a spikes lower.
>>
>>33076667
The same amount of assembly you'd have to do every time to perform basic maintenance on your AR.
>>
>>33076711
new to AR's dont know what is basic assembly
>>
no idea of the price cause its currently out of stock but I assume its in the $300 ballpark is this a good upper?

>>
>>33076729
took me 30 minutes to do with the right tools and watching a YT video, super easy if you've ever put Legos together.
>>
>>33076345
$550 with or without optics, ammo, mags, accessories?
>>
Bought their Midlength Freedom MOE complete upper and LPK with the enhanced trigger, put it together about a week ago.
It's my first AR too, but it seems pretty nice so far. Put about 100 or 150 rounds through it so far, it's ran flawlessly as of now.
Haven't tried steel case yet, but I have a box in my ammo can to try out.
If you're building on a stripped lower, you better make damn sure you don't let the pivot pin detent go flying across the room, or you'll have to order a replacement and wait a week for it to process and ship.

>>33076667
If you buy a complete upper and a complete lower?
Literally just snap the upper and lower together

get a KAC rear sight, you can pick one up on ebay for like $45 and they are very nice and all metal.

not to mention mine after fitting needed almost no adjustment to ring steel at 100 yards.
>>
>>33076783
>complete upper with MLOK rail
>$300
Probably not, but if so it would be a very good deal.
>>
>>33076809
Guy he was replying to. Probably bare bones. That's how I'm pricing mine. Right at $450 bare bones. Then everything else will get tacked on.

This guy here. 299 for a complete upper with bcg/ch and moe hand guard. I have it bookmarked. It's what I get once I sell my bass Monday. Providing it doesn't magically become "temporarily out of stock"

PSA is good stuff, but they have become stupidly overpriced. I've built 3 guns through PSA, but won't be building another. Only decent deals you get anymore are on their limited-time overstock sales, only to find out when it doesn't show up that they were "backordered" (on OVERSTOCK???) and there's an indeterminate shipping date.

They got a good reputation from word of mouth, and they've been fucking it over ever since.
>>
>>33079864
Where else is a gud source to buy AR parts online?

Am also building my first AR over the next couple of weeks, planning to do the whole "buy a new part each paycheck" thing.
>>
>>33076836

people dont give these sights enough credit. At 29 palms my acog was broke so I had to use the KAC BUIS on an unknown distance range and I was ringing steel more often and faster than the guys that had acogs. It was funny having to adjust the turret from target to target.
>>
>>33079864
I've gotten all my parts from them when they have weekend or daily deals with free shipping included. Always ships later that day or the next. Here in 2 days after that. Never had any issues with backorder ed shit
>>
>>33074766
>implying PTAC isn't just blemished PSA stuff with different markings
>>
Have a PSA Premium MOE mid length kit on an Anderson Lower with an Anderson carry handle

~$700 and it shoots better than I do
>>
>>33074759
Nothing wrong with PSA. Their stuff works well and is a good value.

>>33074856
Aero is good stuff

>>33079864
Their prices aren't that bad. They also have sales quite frequently where you can get some amazing deals.
>>
>>33079920
Beginning of December, I saw two deals for AR uppers, ordered both as gifts. About 5 days before Christmas, was told they were "backordered" and would ship "when available." It's almost the end of February. Still no word.
>>
>>33079864
I've had good luck with them. Just bought a complete lower for $130 on the 15th and it's already at my FFL.
>>33079889
I second this question. Looking for a good source for accessories like rails and sights.
>>
>>33075114
> my wife's gun

I want to make this a new meme anon.
>>
A couple years back I got one of their kits. lower parts kit was great but the upper came with an out of spec bolt that got stuck closed and you had to slam the stock on the floor to get it open. PSA wouldn't answer my emails about it.

Lgs gave me a new bolt for free so that solved that problem.

Everyone I shoot with loves the rifle. got my lower from new frontier armory since they're local.
>>
>>33074759
If it's their freedom line, the upper is made by the same company that manufactures noveske's uppers. Not too sure who makes their barrels or there unbranded/PSA marked rails though, might be Midwest?
>>
>>33075797
why don't you ever use it? Didn't like it or just don't have the time?

Just built one.

Do yourself a favor and get a roll pin punch set and armorer's wrench. I installed roll pins with a channel lock and duck tape and marred up parts of my receiver. Further with the MOE rifle kit you need some kind of stupid special tiny screw driver for the Moe trigger guard.

Mine is an EPT on an Anderson lower with an Moe upper. Considerable slop in the lower and upper receiver play and the Moe stock is super rattley. Also buffer is weaker aluminum than """"mil spec"""" tubes.

Just got it but that's what I've gathered so far. Rifle in total was around 450 with no mags or rear sight.
