The tanto blade meme needs to die. It's a stupid marketing gimmick Lynn Thompson started in the 80s. No, it doesn't make the tip stronger. It just gives you less usable edge length for slicing.
>muh katanas!
This is a weeaboo myth. Real samurai weapons had curved edges all the way to the tip. It was only later, decorative blades that had the tanto point.
o-okay anon. I'll be sure to spread
the word.
but tanto blades are

Honestly, I have bought into the "tanto is a meme" meme. Because, it's weebish, and even if it does make the tip a bit stronger, I do not need a strong stabbing blade in a pocket knife. That's not in line with what you use a pocket knife for 99% of the time
looks cool though

Weapons are not supposed to be aesthetically pleasing unless it can be done without compromising their usefulness. Pic related.

>even if it does make the tip a bit stronger
I assure you it does not. Strength is a function of material and thickness. The tanto point just makes the tip blockier, not thicker.
Grinding off my Tanto as we speak. Thanks for the heads up.

Good on you, anon. Many a shitty tanto has been retrofitted to be a fine blade.
>>33053160
You didn't have to say the whole line about samurai and shit. Just say that American Tanto is shit.
>>33053413
I knew that if I didn't, legions of weeaboos would tell say:
>if it's good enough for katanas, it's good enough for me

>It's a stupid marketing gimmick Lynn Thompson started in the 80s
He's the one behind making it into a fad, but he's not the person who invented it.
So you bitch about memes with counter means about lose of useful cutting edge when the vast majority of tantos are either opening box's and other minor utility jobs where the full edge isn't needed anyway, being used as a sharp pry bar or is more or less a display piece. Nobody gives a fuck
