I'm looking to get a pair of jackboots. What are the best kind, and where can I get them?
>>33019136
Hi Mr. ATF
>>33019136
Are you joining the fashion police?
>>33019136
Get a time machine then go back and suck hitler's microcock and single nut in exchange for a pair.
>>33019153
Nah, I'm getting a pair for my reenactment uniform.
Bump for interest.
I'm saving for a WW1 German cosplay and I'm going to need a pair too that don't chafe my heels or pinch my feet.

There is a guy in Germany named Jan Berger making some high-quality jackboots.
To the shop:

Oh, in that case I apologize and retract my snarky comment. I would try google desu. Find something made in the US or Europe, boots made anywhere else can be of dubious quality in my experience.

>>33019136
I think all the authentic ones are sold out by now unless you're willing to pay a premium
Might have to settle for knock offs , or maybe DIY
>>33019312
I want a pair of those so bad.
Pity the company destroyed them all.

Look on ebay. They are still around. As a boot they are total shit, so they are rather cheap.

I heard that the boots those places sell are chinese knockoffs that'll fall apart cause they don't have pinned soles. But then, what do I know?

Well I am biased, I've heard nothing but praise for their services.
>>33019179
Then get proper WW1 German boots.

That's funny just got my M18 in the mail today

Literally nothing wrong with being one. :>)

Cold war bundeswehr jackboots are still in production as navy boots ("Seestiefel"). Very sturdily built and have a good rubber sole. Differ from wehrmacht jackboots by having a decorative buckle (the democratic buckle as they were called, to differ in looks from the evil nazis).
Russian army jackboots are less well made and partly synthetic leather (kirza), often called kirzatchi. Still robust, cheaper and probably easier to get.
Reproduction WWII boots can be well made or not; they (are supposed to) have leather soles with hobnails though, which is not a maintenance friendly or comfortable style.
>>33019179
Proper sizing is extremely important with jackboots (and even then, they are not very well suited for walking). Try extra socks or marschriemen (google it) if it doesn't work. There's a reason they fell out of fashion.

I guess he's just admitting he's not actually being historically accurate enough to call it reenactment.

>Wehraboo
for the record.
what actually constitutes a wehraboo?
i mean does showing ANY interest in german militarism make you a wehraboo or just obsessive interest?
there seems to me to be no defining line here (at least by some).

I like the German Empire but not so much the third reich, i feel like the German empire was more in touch with the cool, old medieval side of Germany.
I wish Britain had never gone to war with them, wouldnt have happened if Queen Victoria was around.
Far more acceptable than cosplaying as SS ahyway (and imo a little more aesthetic)
>>33024188
>cool, old medieval side
Eh... well, I take it you don't actually know much about it. The strong position of the aristocracy was a bit of an oddity, but that was a leftover more from the absolutist early modern age than anything truly medieval. (They liked the medieval aesthetic, but that was more something like high-class cosplay.)
>>33024363
No, i do, i am just pro-aristocracy, pro-society of orders and a monarchist. I do not believe in representative universal democracy like you probably do. I am however a believer in constitutional monarchy rather than absolute monarchy.
The strong position of the aristocracy was quite normal , for they were the aristocracy, Germany had much less of the shift from aristocracy to upper middle class than other countries did however, they managed to preserve it quite well. It was quite medieval, Germany embodied the medieval aesthetic.
I have these. They are of east german stock. Not as tall as ww1 knockelbecher's but they are roomy and fit reasonably well for the ww2 period.
>>33019179
Get them super tight and break them in
>>33024502
Not recommended. Laced boots will adapt to a comfier shape. Long necked ones are less forgiving and a long walk in 'supertight' ones could well do damage. The straps are there to pull the boots up, not to kill circulation until you fall over and pass out.

>Only wehrmacht used jackboots
>>33019136
I bought some East German ones for my Russian ww2 uniform. I think it was ebay

- "My good chap, did you see that strange American soldier?"
- "I say, an odd sight indeed."
- "Was he actually trying to lick your boots?"
- "Well, couldn't waste the opportunity could I."
- "Hey, Ivan!"
- "Yes, Piotr?"
- "Did you hear that some claim we are wearing German army style boots?
- "Capitalist propaganda. What we are wearing is imperial boots sand sewn from the skin of gently executed German war prisoners."
- "Oh! What a relief to hear, comrade."
- "That is Captain comrade to you, comrade."
>>33024556
British boots were not jackboots, they had often laces at the base or buckles running up the boot
>>33019179
>doesn't want boots that are too small
But how else are you going to get frostbite?
>>33024665
>why are british boots always so shiny
>>33025972
In this case the poor photo quality is probably to blame. But British officers back in the day had a personal servant, among whose jobs was to keep Sir's clean and shiny. Not that British officers were alone in that privilege.
>>33026902
They used to be obsessed about shining boots.
Btw. is it true that the us army doesn't even condition their suede boots, just uses them up and buys new ones?
>>33026936
>Btw. is it true that the us army doesn't even condition their suede boot
Are you talking about jump boots or the standard boots everyone wears with acus?
>>33026936
I have to pass on that one, not being American.
>>33026955
Since I'm not gonna be around to answer
Jump boots are cared for as much as humanly possible because they look like shit in asu's if you don't care for them.
Standard army combat boots are not cared for. You're issued them and you wear them until you buy a new pair or you pay to have it resoled once you've worn it down enough. The leather is tough enough that they can survive not being conditioned through their entire life cycle. If you buy boots that aren't patterned after the standard issue, but still fit in the regs, those tend to blow out or just come apart after 1-3 years.
An example would be my brother who did his four years and left only having worn the boots he got in basic. No care for them and they lasted despite being an 11B and pounding ground for those 4 years. My pair of issued boots are still in killer shape despite miles of rucking and just general wear. I've got another pair simply because they're lighter and pretty comfy. Those are still in great shape and I'll continue to wear them into the foreseeable future now that I'm a pog and the worst they see is a walk from the parking lot to my desk.

found the problem
Britfag army here, LCoH in HCR (not HCMR!). I did six months of riding school before binning it and going back to the wagons.
Those fucking boots man.
Literally spending six hours a day polishing the boots and the horses tack.
FML.
Though, Klear for the win, if used in small enough quantities. We did experiment with floor lacquer, but cracked too quickly.
