One way to get deals is look for used weapons in good mechanical condition but ugly cosmetic shape or with external scratches and blemishes.

I traded a junk motorcycle for a perfectly good G27 which has Bubba stippling on the back strap but near zero wear. Doesn't bother me one bit. It's a tool. Got an old Police Positive for plinking. for fifty bucks. Bluing was fucked and stock grips suck so I machined off the bottom frame loop and adapted Pachmayr grips. Bro powder coated it for free and threw in an underlug barrel off some other Colt. He's coating my beater Mossberg too.
