Redpill me on the Air Force. What's gained by having it be separate from the Army? Is it just inertia from the Bomber Mafia days, or is there really some benefit that's worth the cost of the Army not having organic air support like the Navy and Marines have?

Don't ever classify an airman and an amry grunt in the same category.
Air force Gots hot bitches and great living conditions.
Amry got mres and diarrhea

Very few armies operate fixed-wing attack aircraft. Helicopters are simply a better fit for their needs.
>>32985446
It's a shame the army gets to keep the helis. Air Force should take all the stuff. Heck, even take those little drones that the infantry carry around.
>>32985561
>>32985366
Because the army is really fucking dumb. Air power shouldn't have to be weighed down by those idiots

Christ you're a faggot.
AF is a large enough branch with enough unique missions that it benefits from having air power specialists in control of it, rather than generals who see the AF as an asset to aid land based armies.
Just go to college, its pretty much the same thing. I have some fuckboy butter bar squacking about muh education everyday of the week.
Is there any reason 80% of the Air Force shouldn't just be contractors?
Between the intelligence guys and the air traffic controllers and the admin people, even the security forces, having everyone there be fully enlisted servicemen just seems inefficient.
I don't have anything against the Air Force, it just seems like a vestigial piece of the Cold War.

If you work in munitions doing stuff like loading and handling cargo bombs, what would theoretically happen if you used a stencil or wrote on a bomb so long as it was considered appropriate?
>>32988120
That is in every way, save for the head, a Zaku I.
>>32985366
I'd say even more prominently than aircraft the Air Force deals with military computer information systems and other similar technology concepts.

The idea is that you get dem gubment benefits to balance out the pay difference, but unless you're buried in student debt, it's insanely more lucrative to be private/civilian than it is government.
That's the only reason I haven't joined up.
>>32988120
>seems inefficient.
Yeah, do stuff because it "seems" something to your dumb ass. Go away. If you are too lazy to research your questions you suck and should fucking die. Hurr, durr, muh "seems". How dare you be such an ignorant piece of shit? GTFO to /mlp/ with your tardation.
>>32990635
You don't get to mark bombs unless they are on a wing and not coming back. They aren't yours to play with otherwise. They are stored and maintained, often for many years, in controlled conditions and graffiti by retards is non-standard.
>>32986945
Mind explaining what those would be?

Air superiority and air interdiction. Suppression of enemy air defenses.
>had great grades throughout school, clean record, never smoked/drank/done drugs
>join the Air Force
>my jarhead and soldier friends ripping on me
>mfw I'm making 90k annually and they hate their lives
Air Force is all about "fight smarter, not harder." You're given a comparatively easier life in exchange for having a clean record and the smarts to do shit with your brain. Joining the AF is literally like having your pick of any college in the country, and then people chastise you for choosing Harvard or Yale instead of Clown College because that's all they were able to get into.

>Air force Gots hot bitches
I've been in for 20 years. This is generally not correct.
>having a clean record and the smarts
Don't let this mislead you. While the average airman might be smarter than the average soldier, they're still dumb as fuck on average.
>>32992507
>>90k annually
what are you doing anon?
>>32992507
>Air Force is all about "fight smarter, not harder."
Usually the Air Force is more about "don't work at all, and blame everyone else for the problems that come about".

AMMO troop here, can confirm.
We have to measure how many micrometers thick the hangers on the missiles are. We measure gouges in wings and fins with precision calipers. I go over a bunch of CATM AIM-9Ms and 9Xs with a cleanser and a can of gray paint every single day to make sure they are pristine.
There is no graffiti. Literally none.
We do deface the shit out of bombs on deployments though.
>>32992507
I'm assuming it's still a terrible choice if literally all you want to do is fly planes though.
