/k/ I've just realised after all this time that the Type 95 is just a shitty Chinese copy of the Famas.
>>
>>32983550
Its more of an ak
>>
Even the Chinese thought it would be retarded to copy the FAMAS
>>

famas-9.jpg
13KB, 550x207px
>>32983550
It's literally a near 1 to 1
>>
>>32984126
>>32983550
They look absolutely nothing alike and don't even function in a similar way other than being bullpups.
>>
>>32984184
What other bullpups have the cocking handle on the top underneath the iron sights, with the grip directly beneath the cocking handle?

If you elongated the Type 95's iron sight so it reached the barrel, it would literally be a one for one.
>>
>>32984234
>different action
>different caliber and mags
>1 to 1
Is this bait?
>>
>>32984256
The design is one for one minus the sight.
>>
>>32984273
>Delayed blowback vs short stroke pistol
Lmao with your logic most conventional rifles are the same because they have the same layout where the controls are generally located in similar locations.
>>
>>32984316
A Chinaman saw the Famas and though "i make copy i like", he copied the design one for one minus the sight then added a couple of different operational features.

It's as if they were copying a photo instead of a physical copy of a famas.

Like the Russians and the STG44
>>
>>32984234
Are you retarded? Don't answer that, we all know it's a yes.
>>
>>32984352
Nobody can be this dumb, right?
>>
>>32984367
>>32984355
They saw a photo of the famas in a gun magazine and stole the idea, they didn't want a copyright issue so they changed a few bits.
>>
>>32984352
So having similar design features makes it a copy despite the internals being completely different, this is some next level bait.
>>
>>32984234
>What other bullpups have the cocking handle on the top underneath the iron sights, with the grip directly beneath the cocking handle?
The VHS-2 has the charging handle up top.
>>
>>32984384
As if they were working the empty stock of a famas

I know I'm right, maybe you guys just have something against the famas.
>>
>>32983550
The actions are nothing alike, however the aesthetics are pretty similar
>>
>>32984425
Yes, that's true. I don't think that's a bad thing, either. Unless someone really wants the lever-delayed action, the VHS-2 seems like a pretty big improvement over the FAMAS from at least a superficial assessment.
>>
>>32984464
Dumb American is also redundant.
>>
>>32983550
Calling the type 95 a FAMAS is like calling a vz58 an AK (and those two are arguably closer)
>>
>>32984384
>So having similar design features makes it a copy
Yes. It was copied from someone else, it doesn't matter if it was copied wrong.
The chinese have never invented anything worthwhile in the past 1000 years.
The closest they've come in 100 years is "ayy lamo, what if we put nicotine in a humidifier?".

>>

I've always found it to be quite an interesting design. The Chinese are a very intelligent and thoughtful people.

I think it's quite a nice looking rifle. Wouldn't mind owning one.

>>32983550
I'd love to have that shitty Chinese copy of the Famas

Hell I want two; the flat top version and the ones with carry handle. I've shot one and despite the awkward feature, I like it handle and how it doesn't look like a plastic toy

Kinda-sorta?

I own one of the civvy versions, the Type 97. It's pretty great, aside from EMEI fumbling the conversion to a "STANAG" magwell. 99% of the issues T97's have can be attributed to the magwell, but there are some simple mods to fix it. The early ones had some issues but they seem pretty good nowadays.

Those Chinese must have been high when they dreamed up the safety location. 180* throw, on the very back of the rife, left side. Absolutely baffling.

There in excess of a few thousand T97's up here in the Great White North. Very popular to the point that Canadian company makes kits to convert the goofy carry handle to a CNC'd aluminum upper, and an equally nice aluminum lower that fixes the safety and mag release.

The bolt is simpler than an AK, and it's retained in an equally simple fashion. The gas system is idiot-proof, and adjustable which is nice. Mine sends brass about 30 feet on the normal setting....the 'fouled' setting launches casings into fucking orbit.

The striker is weird, and is perplexing to me as since it's a pretty complicated piece to make, which is at odds with how simple the design is otherwise. Not a whole lot to it.

>>32986854
Credit where it's due, it's a simple effective design. Even the Civvy 5.56 versions are pretty impressive if you consider they converted the design to an entirely different cartridge and magazine system and got it working.

It's not the best design out there for sure, but it's sure as fuck no INSAS

>The striker is weird, and is perplexing to me as since it's a pretty complicated piece to make

The striker, or more accurately, linear hammer, is a strange design for sure. But when you think about how it interacts with the trigger pack/sear mechanism, its ultra-simple in the sense that it can be made with extremely loose tolerances.

> It's pretty great, aside from EMEI fumbling the conversion to a "STANAG" magwell.

That's found on the 5.56 military export models as well, and is more common than you'd think. The FAMAS F2 does the exact same thing. Its an unimaginative and easy way to convert a rifle to accept STANAGs, but you can work with it.

>>32989363
>More to point, is the QBZ-95 as shitty as everyone says it is?

It;s a rifle designed to be quickly and cheaply produced mass-produced, while also being reliable and rugged enough to survive being handled by the millions of quasi-trained Chinese conscripts it will be issued to.

In that light, it is close to a perfect design.

The FAMAS was the first bullpup to be adopted on a massive scale and pretty much defined the genre. It's not surprising to see other bullpups with similar looks and ergonomics.
>>
>>32992589
I think it's a non reciprocating charging handle.
>>
>>32989888

I mean more along the lines of they didn't replicate STANAG dimensions very well. The wells are very tight, and some mags sit just a hair too low. So, some of them here will fire a round, then jam the next one bullet-first into the area just below the 'feed ramp'. They run 100% out of the box with the mag they come with, which actually has slightly different dimensions than a standard USGI mag.

It's an easy fix, but I get the impression someone just described a STANAG well over the phone and eyeballed the specifics.

>>32992633
They reciprocate, actually.
