Okay, so im thinking of getting the Gamma MX Hoody as my first arcteryx piece. Im looking for something that i can use year round. (I live in New England, so during the fall/spring at night you still need a light jacket or sweatshirt, basically 70% of the year.

Is this a good choice? I really want the Beta AR, but its hard to dish out $600 for my first one. Not to mention theres no stores around me to try anything on, so its all a crap shoot.
>>
>>32979151
The only people here who buy arcteryx are skeletor and garand thumb. The rest of us dont have $600 for a hoody.

Literally what are you implying?
>>
>>32979543
what are you "assaulting" faggot? Literally no one does that. People who actually assault
things wear rear plates in their armor. Its also a flawed concept because you can't garuntee no one will be behind you and when you are in the fucking objective you are assaulting people can be behind you. shrapnel from explosions and shit can come from behind you

The reality is if you ever need your armor you are going to be in a dynamic environment and you are better off with rear plates. And as a civilian you are even more likely to need it because you have no one watching your back and you will be in an urban center.

also "patrolling" in plates as a civilian is stupid. either wear the armor or dont. you aren't saving anything by taking 4lbs off your back and unbalancing your vest

I would *strongly recommend* that you store the pouches without mags in them to allow the elastic to return to a sort of resting state. Otherwise, if you feel comfortable investing the time, I recommend placing some cloth over the front of the pouches to act as a barrier to protect from physical wear and tear from other equipment scuffing around.

But that's just me, I'm a cheap-o gear-o queer-o

Alright so I think I have ideas for my belt setup nailed down. I am looking to get an AWS belt then putting an esstac KYWI double AR mag pouch and double pistol mag pouch on it. That should set me up pretty well for 2gun since I already have a holster setup. I can work on an IFAK once I have everything else setup to my liking. Thoughts/critiques on this plan?

Old pic, feel free to R8 and H8.

This is changing, after trying all different configurations I can safely say I hate battle belts. I'm done with them, I'm moving things from the belt to either my pack or PC. I'm tired of them sliding, moving, falling down, too tight, too loose, interfering with my PC, interfering with my pack, not letting me bend. I'm going back to a PC, a pack and a common pistol belt with holster. Anyone else have similar frustrations?

>>32980888

>>
>>32980888
You've got too much shit. The ifak, to me, is way too fucking big for a belt. If it has to be that big, at least make it a horizontal one. Your pistol looks awfully high as well. And I would go with one less rifle mag on the belt.

>>32980964
Agreed my shit is too busy, I think the rifle mag pouch is going onto the back of the pack. The pistol is high as I haven't found a drop panel that will attack to the STRIKE panel and holster properly, I may need to just get some kydex and make it. I do need a smaller IFAK, I like the way this one opens but it takes up too much space and sticks out too far.

I've never tactically acquired anything myself, but I do have an ACH, an Iraqi M90 used by the Republican Guard, and a 6B28 (though that's still held up in Russian customs).

The Airframe usually is on back order (anywhere from 4 months to 4 weeks from what I hear) but OPTactical has them in their live inventory with pre-drilled mount holes and rails attached for about 10 less than then Airframe straight from Crye w/o any holes or rails (after you input their 5% off year round code).

Brushstroke camouflage is overrated by people who associate it with Rhodesia. Original British brush stroke smocks (you know, the ones that were actually hand painted) were cool as fuck, but brush stroke as a printed pattern is pretty meh.

Also, you're the milshit west guy who couldn't go to Grozny, right? Are you going to Balkar Ridge?

Honestly, I'm thinking either the ARX or the AK74. I think the ARX100 is a decent enough rifle that it wouldn't be a waste to kit out but also has great shitposting potential, which is of course a major factor when it comes to spending large quantities of money on things you'll only use maybe four times a month.

I mean, they're just now "replacing" the former mexican marine pattern (pic related) with this stuff, so I'm pretty happy with it. They're made in the US, even though it's a pattern from a canuck licensed to the mexicans. Fingers crossed they're good quality.

I'll probably be able to get more if anyone is interested, but not for a few weeks.

Anyone else have the Ice Plate? This thing is cool as fuck. It's main attachment is on the outside of the PC but fits well inside the plate slot. Frees up the back for more attachments and feels better designed. Given that I don't run back armor anyway this feels like a dream.

So building your own can be nice because you can get exactly what you want, but it'll cost more since you have to buy more pouches, pre builts are nice cause you don't have to fuck with much besides IFAK and maybe a GP or dump pouch, but they may not suit your needs. Forgot to mention also, that I read on lightfighter people having the issue of the holster being slightly too big for their belt, it was fixed by placing the holster on the belt, and where the empty space is (.25") Using a few zip ties pulled all the way tight, to fill the space.

So if you cant find a 1.75 replacement you can fix that a shot I suppose, but Ill look around for a 1.75.

Just saw this. http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/details/gunfighter-belts/limited-time-offer-gunfighter-belt-kit/ Go down to "The TYR Tactical® Gunfighter Belt-E" Description. Thats where I found it.

But no one wears them around their necks like around town, or ever basically, unless your super POG, or right outa boot camp.
So you will look poser as fuck, becuase when I saw mil guys out in town (boots) who had it on their neck they look poser as fuck and hell they are in the military.

Former airborne here. Can confirm.

In most jump-status units you're not allowed to wear them around your neck except for inspections. Most people will have them looped on a belt loop and stuffed in a back pocket, or just dropped down the inside of their pants depending on job. I caught the beginning of a resurgence in them being an "inspectable item" along with green boot socks (literally wtf, I got issued black and this weird brown color for boot socks, no I'm not going out and dropping another $100 on fucking socks because the real-deal shit you gave me is somehow the wrong color), a notebook, and a black-ink pen. Which was bullshit, I sweated the notebook to death the first day and the pen pockets on your sleeve were worthless (either jab you in the elbow/back of your hand or get snagged out by your seatbelt).

$175 for a not early ticket (first two weeks of tickets being out is $150)
$200 for 500 blanks (about)
$15 hollywood bfa
$20 for 3 mres (approx more than enough food for 40 hour op)
gun, food, uniform is really all you have to get, but
$9 per pea grenade (sim frsg)
$10 per smoke
$80-$120 for airshit pistol (you'll want someform of airshit with blank fire for cqb because minimum engagement)

so it gets expensive fucking quick
(seeing as cyma aks are $180 and bbs are provided by msw, airsoft is actually cheaper) if you can get an airshit for under $300, you're saving on blank ammo and airsoft secondary.

>>32987927
>>32987972
>>32988021
>>32988035
buying an airshit primary will be cheaper than using blanks. It will be more effective if you want kills. But it's really fun to be making tons of noise shooting a real gun. whats more, you improve everyone else's exeperience because gunshots really do help with the immersion.
>>
>>32988516
damn, Im actually trying go nato in may. it depends on my tax return desu

>>32988538
this. you're paying extra money to improve everyone else's game and look cool as fuck. that being said, there are a lot of skills you can work on with blanks. Reloads under stress, taking cover, proper movement, being safe, etc
>>
>>32988659
If a HATO squad could get together in May that'd be noce. We could request to wear any nato camo we wanted.
>>
>>32988932
thing is we have to rep that country.

>>

Any US camo as well. Woodland, MARPAT, Nwu, etc
>>
>>32983465
That's likely what I'll do. If I do that, get the 10" barrel and a SOCOM mini it'll be a really fun shitposting and hog hunting gun.

>>32988516
So are you going to Balkar Ridge? Blue and I are looking into going as NATO in May and the more the merrier because there's also going to be a /k/ gruppa squad on RUSFOR that we can shitpost.

>>32988932
I just wish we could find proof of any SFs wearing Multicam Tropic so that we could go wearing that; the environment is optimal for it but nobody uses it which means we have to use regular Multicam.

>>32989157
Good; Multimeme is best meme. We also have to show up those RUSFOR faggots because their squad lead is insistent that Multicam is a shit camouflage and that digiflora, regular flora, and even mountain flora are far superior.

Are you in the /k/ gruppa FB so that we can coordinate this/push Blu to not be a bitch who seems constantly on the verge of backing out?

I respect the idea of mil sim west. Since it appears to be more of 'larp' and 'simulation' than some backyard bb shit. Unfortunately Im hard pressed to justify $500 to essentially go on a field op. I totally see how it could be fun, and mostly to people who never had a .mil experience. And I assuming they try their best to make it fun, and not too realistic to .mil field ops, because theres no way im going to pay $500 for that haha.

Then again I decided to give up on the camo game and just get into outdoorsman type wear.
>>
>>32991083
Yeah, this will probably be my only set of camo. I'd mostly only wear the boonie or quarter zip jacket thing while innawoods, maybe wear the fatigues to a /k/ meetup
>>
>>32991114
Yeah im a firm believer in transitioning to more of a matte civ color patterns than camo. Unless you really need some type of combat oriented uniform, or you have a significant amount of money to blow, its hard to justify.

I prefer wearing my Prana Brion Pants, and Normal Outdoors tops. When I buy them I just try to get muted colors (Dark navy blue, Grey, Black, Tan, Khaki, Green, etc).

That way they can double as normal outdoors wear and can be used also with my shooting/gear queer shit

it is a more "simmy" experience but it's definitely not that realistic. right now one of the HATO marine groups is salty cause many of their members have no fucking idea what fire and maneuver is and last event someone literally fell the fuck asleep during a 5 minute security halt on the first night of the game.

they have a fb group

one of their cadre guys is a former 75th ranger so i can see how it would be disappointing to be stuck with a bunch of guys who have no idea how to pull security when halted or how to bound by fireteams
>>
>>32996266
Whats it called? And yeah I get that, but I mean if your a .mil guy you gotta expect that shit. Thats exactly why I wouldn't go. Also I wouldnt want to pay money to have a real experience, that shit sucked.

On one side I can see where the immursion would be good, and how it must be frustrating to the guys who are mil, but on the other side, you cant start blasting/hazing a bunch of guys who paid hundreds of dollars to be there.

I mean you can, and I probably would. But.. thats not the greatest business model. Unless they provided some type of training or reading beforehand to get them up to speed on what like a security halt even is, its hard to get random civis to be good with that type of shit right off the bat

This

Use Crye's sizing charts. But their wastes come 2" intervals. I wear a 34", so I bought a 34" waste. Though I had to adjust it with the really neat tabs on the back sides of the pants but it looks like because of the way they adjust that you could be a 34" waste, buy a 32 or even 30" waste and be fine. Obviously don't do that, but the "waste size" you buy isn't the max waste size, it looks like it's the "average" or "minimal adjustments" size and the pants can size down up to like 4 or 5 inches.

For pant length kinda the same thing since the knees are adjustable, but follow their sizing chart to the T for inseam (pant length) otherwise your shin section will be way too short or long even if you can get the thigh section right with the internal adjustments.

hey guys, I crunched some numbers. I lied. Blanks are cheaper to run at msw if you don't account secondary, and even then, maybe.

500 LAM blanks + hollywood style bfa will run you close to $160. You will not get a airsoft gun, battery, charger, and mags worth a damn for $160.

the secondary airsoft pistol is still up in the air, I'm researching now for something kinda cheap that if you wanted to run blanks would let you engage within 20ft

Lots of guys say tactical gear will make you a target in a SHTF scenario, but I have a different take -- wouldn't be decked out in tactical gear provide a boost to your morale in addition to the utility benefits?

Not sure what tacticool terminology to use, but I'd be able to call it a "72hr personal medkit" pretty easily, as in everything in this kit should be able to last 72 hours, if not longer.
Pouch is Maxpedition Micro Pocket Organiser, with a ITW Grimloc carabiner to hold the tape (which wouldn't fit inside).

>Tube of antiseptic ointment (Betadine)
>Small roll of cloth tape

Can't think of anything else I'd need in there.
My urgent medkit (basically an IFAK) will contain a 6" Israeli bandage, two packs of S-folded gauze, a 4" ACE bandage, and a CAT tourniquet.
>>
>>32998941
>>32998929

Breddy nice.

I've thought about doing this but including a swatt tourniqet, an Israeli bandage, and gauze, maybe more. Just to have back up for my back ups back up.
>>
>>32999047
The reason I'm having two separate kits is so the super urgent items (Israeli bandage, tourniquet, ACE bandage in the event of a snake bite, etc) are separate to the non-urgent items (lmao Band-aids), which means less sorting through clutter in an emergency
Putting everything in the one kit also means you can't keep your IFAK on you at all times without also bringing the non-ugent gear and vice-versa
>>
>>32999023
Just a suggestion for your ifak, you should have a chest seal or two. You can go cheap and get petroleum gauze and use the packaging as chest seals.
>>
>>32999077
I was thinking of that, but you can just use the plastic packaging from the Israeli bandage with some tape to make one, which saves space and weight, and money.
>>
>>32999076
I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I have an ifak with all real emergency shit. But in creating a non emergency kit like above, I would also include some emergency stuff as well, because I see no reason not to include a swatt tourniqet(super compact), gauze and maybe an Israeli bandage.
>>
>>32999093
Very true, I see the logic.
>>
>>32999110
But also, I'd rather have a vented chest seal since I've never been trained on decomp needle and wouldn't want to without training.
>>
>>32999102
Ah I see.
I just figure I'll usually have both on me, but always will have my IFAK on me.
Also the negative to putting more things in your non-urgent kits means you'll need a bigger pouch/box to put it all in, which takes up more space in your pack/rig.
I got this pouch because it was compact and only had room for what I needed and nothing else.
>>
>>32999142
Good thing about maxpedition is they have tons of pouchs like that and size up in small increments, so adding a couple items doesn't require you to double the size of the pouch. A swatt and a pack of z fold gauze is very small. Granted an Israeli bandage isn't.
