Im thinking about getting a Ruger Scout in 308, but I'm looking for some opinions on it. Do any of you guys know how reliable/accurate they are? I think it's a good looking rifle and would be fun in the bush.
Thanks for your advice/opinions!

it is unequivocally the best scout style rifle on the market.
>brush gun
Marlin 1895
>>32976264
like mine a lot. reliable and accurate.
>>32976264
it sucks ass. get a savage a17 so you have a gun that will actually hit what you point it at. The ruger is actually liable to to shoot you, your mom or your dog if you point it away from any of those targets

>synthetic stock
>stainless barrel
bretty slick bawss.
>>32976596
That does look like a sweet set up

Go to bed Larry
>>32976264
They're sexy as hell and the action is smooth as butter, but at $80 for a spare mag I may as well buy a PTR.

Ruger Mag prices are crazy
>>32976596
>shell holder instead of another boxmag
Explain.

More like $28 for the polymer version.

I'm so autistic I want it to have a bayonet lug and a stock that goes all the way to the end then it would be perfect
>>32977242
So basically you want an ishapore 2a1?
>>32977255
It's still a Mauser derived action rather than an Enfield. A Mauser bayonet lug and a full length stock in the same gray laminate would be the tits.
>>32976563
this, chuck a scout mount on it + IER and you have what is actually the best scout style rifle on the market.
>>32977348
I would buy that in a heart beat then just make that my cabin gun
>>32977218
>Falling for the polymeme
My mags are made out of steel, the way God intended.
>>32976264
Was not a fan of the action, but from what I have seen and as many as I have handled since then, I am finding my rifle was a bit of a snowflake.
>>32977348
Get a Czech Mauser or mod a CZ then.
>>32977195
mags go on belt, shell holder goes on rifle.
10rd .308 box mags are heavier than i'd like for putting on the stock.
>>32976264
This is tempting me moreso than the Ruger
>>32980306
Doesn't look as nice but the price is good
>>32980446
I agree. Ruger's stock is a lot nicer, and I'm sure some other parts are of slightly better quality. That's a huge price difference, though, and Savage seems to provide ample extras. The difference in cost could go towards really nice glass
Tbh savage is fine and will save you money
>>32976264
i'm very happy with it. take the birdcage off it, and get some polymer mags, and you'll be too.
>>32977758
yes because everyone can just competently mod something lol
it will shoot 1 moa and its bolt action reliable
sometimes i wish i bought an ar instead but most of the time im happy. if you actually go innawoods its a good choice.
>>32977242
Couldn't you put an m14 flash hider with the bayonet lug? Then you're good right?
>>32976264
this thing looks like the bastard child of an M1903 and a M14 and I'm not sure how that makes me feel
>>32980727
Well it doesn't have the weight of a gas system and it's actually designed to hold a fucking scope properly, so it's better than the M14.
>>32980727
>M1903
They both use modified Mauser actions
>M14
Except it's much lighter, more reliable, more accurate, and also a fucking bolt action.
If I went for one I think I'd have to be this one
