Went shooting today for the first time and shot a Beretta 92FS. Shot a paper target at five yards and my accuracy was literally a circle grouping of like 2 feet. Am I the worst fucking shot in the world, or does everyone start out this shitty? 5 yards was literally the closest they put the targets at too...

stop
1. anticipating recoil
2. jerking the trigger rather than a smooth squeeze
3. having no "follow through" where you continuing the squeezing action rather than merely waiting for the bang
4. using your finger tips
5. using the crook between your distal and middle phlanges.
6. squeezing your entire hand along with your index finger
7. insisting on teacupping or squeezing with your supporting hand
8. breaking the wrist upwards while attempting to control recoil with just your elbow instead of absorbing it through the wrist and into your arm and shoulder.
basically git gud shitlord
>>32966048
no most people start off far better than that, far better
my guess is you are afraid of the firearm and flinch and jump when you think the recoil is coming
go get some time in on a .22
>>32966070
What the hell is wrong with teacupping? My shooting arm gets tired, you know.
>>32966575
You end up with a 2foot shot group at like 5 yards
>>32966588
>You end up with a 2foot shot group at like 5 yards
kek
>>32966048
I started about where you did. It takes a lot of practice. I can now keep a 2-4" group at 15 yards thanks to taking this >>32966070 advice. Stock ammo wide and deep. Try to shoot every month, more if you're able. In time you'll get much better.
Honestly, it may be a good idea to get in some classes. It is a tremendous help to have an experienced shooter looking over yoy. I did my first High Power rifle match yesterday. I had never shot off-hand, seated or prone before. I had an excellent instructor watching over me and I learned far more about marksmanship in 2 hours than I have in the 3 years I have been into shooting. Granted, I scored near the bottom of our group. If I just showed up and shot, I would have been dead last.
>>32966557
>go get some time in on a .22
this
the .22 wont recoil so you wont be scared of it
stop flinching, flinchy
>>32966588
Top kek
>>32966588
I'm not OP. Give a real reason.
>>32967155
You want both hands in contact with the frame as high as possible to maintain control.
Also, touching the magazine baseplate can cause malfuncitons.
>>32967155
>poor control is not a real reason
>>32968014
because it makes you look like a faggot
>>32967155
You are giving up additional leverage you could have over the gun for no reason.

Good list, I only take issue with
>5. using the crook between your distal and middle phlanges.
Depending on his hand/finger size and the guns trigger to tang width he might need to improvised trigger finger placement.
>>32972011
On my beretta is use the pad of my fingertip. But mine also breaks super clean with nearly no travel. On my smaller guns though I definitely use the crease of my finger. It does have to do with hand size and shape. I would suggest dry fire practice and snap caps if you're worried.
>>32972066
I've seen people with hands to stubby to work with a g19
>>32966663
I started on 40 S&W, to this day I've only shot a ruger mark III once. Not sure if it hurt or helped but I definitely had to confront recoil and flinch rather than circumvent it.
>>32967155
Because it doesn't do anything.
>>32966048
If you can, take an empty shell casing and balance it on the tip of the firearm, then practice dry firing and not have the casing fall.
If your not hitting anything so then you keep trying for so long your arm get's so shaky you continue to miss-don't do that. Also have good follow through, pull the trigger focusing with hitting the target and not on the recoil that's happening. Flinching will probably get better over time. I was a bad pistol shot when I first started pistols
>>32966048
Holy shit that's bad
>>32966070
Good list, especially
>2. jerking the trigger rather than a smooth squeeze
If you have a good, steady, smooth squeeze and keep your sights on target throughout, you will make good shots. You might tire out quickly and be shit at follow up shots but trigger squeeze is the most "fundamental fundamental" of pistol shooting in my opinion. it's also one you can practice at home
Ease up on the coffee, Tweek.
>>32966048
are you perhaps pictured here?
>>32966048
This is where you belong
>>32966048
You need better stance.
1.) hold gun sideways, one handed. This gives you better visibility on the target.
2.) hold it at arms length, level with your head. Angle it upwards or downwards as needed, depending on where your target is. This helps retain sight picture.
3.) with your other hand, grip your crotch for stability
4.) slightly crouch and lean backwards to help soak up recoil
5.) thrust the gun forward with each shot. This increases velocity, which allows for more kinetic energy impacting your target.

>trying this hard for (you)s
ok here's the free one

thanks. i need them to live

My nigga I haven't heard anyone mention that game in years.
>>32976888
Otogi is dark souls before dark souls was cool and also a shitload more difficult.
>>32973813
Please post more terrible groups

>>32978625
If I had more I would.
Reminds me of a "gang" docu I saw once where they followed the "gansters" to a shooting range, their groups looked similar.
>>32966588
rekt
>>32966048
>ting today for the firs
shoot more. it takes a lot of time and money to get good if you weren't given savant tier shooting skills by your maker
>>32979506
This is too true.
>>32966048
This was my first target with my neighbors glock
>>32979954
distance? round count?
Either way looks good for a noob, noob.
>>32966646
This.
A quality instructor will change your world.
I did an Appleseed a few months back, and while most of them were mediocre, there was one instructor who could diagnose and help me correct my shooting by just watching me for a few rounds.
>>32978691
does it work for left hand to just flip it horizontally?
First time shooting my tokarev I put up a human sized target at 100 yds and managed to hit it with 1/3 of my shots
>>32966048
Don't worry anon, everone starts out shitty, just got to practice.
>>32976437
I don't get this image. I'm an ausfag, I've never shot a pistol, doing my license shit at the moment. But with my rifle I would say the point of impact would be the actual number 6, not the centre of this imaginary clock.
How are you supposed to gauge that? Just an arbitrary circle around the target? Seems retarded.
>>32982628
It's a way of explaining where to hold with your pistol.
That's a 6 O'clock hold
Center hold would be the top of the posts center of the clock.
I bet you can guess where 12 O'clock hold would be.
So if we were both decent pistol shooters, and I asked you where to hold at 20 yards with your 4" bbl pistol and 124 gran Fiocchi target loads you could give me a reasonable explanation on where to hold the sights using this colloquial vernacular.
And yes the illustration is exaggerated for clarity.
>>32973813
Looks like an SBR uzi maybe even an auto. Honestly if that was an auto and they don't shoot much that's not terrible
>>32966048
>5 yards
Nigger thats point blank range.
>>32982693
Yeah the photo is a little dishonest. But they are still terrible, terrible shots if you watch the vid.
>>32982693
At that range with a stock, yeah that's fucking terrible.
>>32982778
you have no idea what point blank means.
