The SL's on that game are shit, so I usually try to go SL just so we don't get a shitty one. Half of them don't know how to use gas, recon, smoke, etc... and almost never give commands to their squad.

I've been playing Verdun since it was in it's early pre-alpha browser days. They shilled it hard here and collectively we ate that shit up. I remember story threads and people spamming the lyrics to the menu music.

I pre-ordered the alpha when it was in green light phase. I've been with it ever since. I fucking love Verdun. It could be better, but is far and above games like BF1, so I give it credit and try not to be so hard on devs.

I bought the game on sale for boxing day, and the gameplay is ok, but I've started to get slowly bored with the game, they need more guns, more trench warfare, the inclusion of the back to basics mode was nice and made things fun, but I wish there were more reasons to progress after lvl 30, like new helmets or coats or gas masks etc, like in Battle Front

and they should've just placed all the attatchment versions of guns into one attachment list that you can unlock then buy with credits and attach to the base gun like in other shooters, it would free up space for ACTUAL guns not 4 different versions of the same damn gun, and i would've liked to have seen or I guess heard more WW1 period music like how Toy Soldiers did back on XBLA, it made the game feel more like WW1 instead of a war game with WW1 skins thrown on

The gameplay is even worse than the fact a woman leads the Arab Revolt. Literally no trench warfare, at least 3/4ths of a team have automatic guns, people use LMGs like they're fucking assault rifles, etc, etc.
Verdun is just realistic enough to make it extremely fun and unique, BF1 is just not realistic and not fun. It's a generic FPS.

I think one of my most favorite parts of Verdun is it models pretty well is how difficult long arms can be to use in the trenches if you are getting stormed. Pistols are actually useful and aren't just sidearms.

The reason it's pretty much a re-skinned Insurgency is because it started as a mod for Insurgency. The gameplay itself for most modes quite different from Insurgency. I also don't know of any Cowadooty that had unmounted Vickers or M712s. They're adding Fallschirmjäger units so FG42s aren't too out of the ordinary. The best i could hope for Sandstorm is that it makes console kiddies have a slightly better taste in shooters even if it does end up being shit.

How is the community? The original mod seemed like it had many servers with unbalanced, bad modifications like getting rid of fog on the beaches and upping the slots for sniper roles.
Also the vast majority of players I remember playing with refused to get their asses into the point to cap or hold it. Barely anyone used smoke grenades attacking too but that was the same as in base Insurgency.

I have nothing but good experiences with the community in the standalone. The multiplayer is usually very competitive and people know what they're doing to play their role correctly. I didn't play much of the mod but from what it sounds it is completely different now.
