I keep a set of picks outside my house. Anyone could use a hiden key, but anyone who could pick a lock probably has their own picks. It shrinks the pool of people who could use my backup. Otherwise I don't generally walk around with burglary tools.

and looking at those picks they are more for duck tape, handcuffs and flex ties but you could get a door open if you had an hour and really had to with those even if you didn't really know what you were doing.

you can't just "buy lock picks" then use them, you have to fucking practice it and learn how to pick individual locks
