So we know songs like "Fortunate Son" (It ain't me), "Run through the Jungle" etc are considered representative songs of the Vietnam War. Really, off the top of my head I could make a list of at least 25 songs that would fit with film of the Vietnam War.
I served in the Iraq War and was talking with a friend of mine I served with about "what are Iraq/Afghan War Songs?"
What do you think?
Starting off with a commonly accepted one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U45MxE0BiE
It'd be all the typical Platoon War video songs, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Dope whatever that Bombs over Baghdad song was, some Metallica thrown in there too.
Got cringe worthy after awhile seeing every video with the same tracks being played.

Johnny Cash songs were my helichopter earbuds favorites.
A late addition in 2010 was Kanye's 'Power'. It's pretty great to listen to before touching down to kick in some dude's door.
>>32897940
Oh, and anything by the band SWORD. Fucking love those guys.
>>32897896
>"what are Iraq/Afghan War Songs?"
Edgy punk numetal for the most part.
>>32897896
"Fire Water Burn" was released in 1996. A little early to be considered an "Iraq/Afghan War song" in the same way there are songs that are "Vietnam War songs". Although, I agree it is fitting.
That bitchy Wheatus song and anything by Drowning pool.

A lot of that nu-metal shit, radio country, and mainstream rap. I tried to turn my platoon on to better stuff, usually in my truck we'd be rocking out to old-school metal, death, thrash, HC, punk rock, and gangsta rap.

Dude man anything that was released near or even pre-2001 was considered everything that would have been Stadium Rock back then.

You can name so many songs representative of the Vietnam War because many of those were protest songs written about the war. I don't think there were nearly as many people who held as negative of views of the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq as people did of the Vietnam War.
