Why is there little to no love for the A2 grip?
Anyone still running one?
>>
>>32896271
its a bit on the small side and the nub is annoying. certainly not unusable, but ill gladly pay $20 for a miad 1.0 and be happy.
>>
>>32896271
It's a little small in diameter and the angle isn't the greatest. It's not unusable but with everyone and they're mom making quality AR components I don't see why anyone would stick with it unless they're some small handed crooked wristed monster
>>
>>32896297
I personal find that the nub really help lock the hand in place. It bugged me for a week of so but then my finger callused and I don't even feel it.
>>
>>32896311
Jw, when you pull your trigger do you pull with the pad of your finger tip or the knuckle? I find the angle works great to pull with the pad.
>>
>>32896311
I don't understand the angle hate, does everyone have their stocks collapsed all the way or something?

Yes I have one on both my 5.56 ARs. My PSA lower came with a fagpul grip which was too fat and to me felt cheap. Plus it rattled.

I really like the feel of it on my A2 so I just put a spare one on my other gun. The nub annoyed me the first time I shot an AR like 5 years ago, but now I don't even feel it

SBR has a BCM grip for aesthetic reasons mostly, but it's a super nice grip so no regerts

Love the full A2 on the left. Nice set btw.
>>
Does anyone know why they even put the nub on there to begin with? The A1's didn't have it right?

Thanks! The middle one is for sale right now since I never shoot it and I'd rather spend the money on ammo and some parts kits. Or an RPD, who knows.

Ask the man himself, he goes by coldblue on arfcom

https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/626884_Why-did-the-military-go-from-the-A1-pistol-grip-to-the-A2-pistol-grip-.html&page=1

>Part of my strategy to get the Army to adopt the Marine Corps improved rifle (so it was more affordable for us over the long run) was to involve as many Army elements, voters at the table, nay sayers, etc., as possible, like their human Engineering lab (HEL) at Aberdeen Maryland. (See my comment above re: buttstock length.)
So in looking to improve the pistol grip (which is a major human to machine contact/control surface to begin with), which we were going to change anyway (i.e., buy a new pistol grip mold) taking the sling swivel provision from the bottom of the front grip, we looked at a fully contoured pistol grip with grooves for all three fingers. But HEL objected as this would only fit the 45% percentile Soldier. But adding just one groove to support the middle finger would fit the 85th to the 90th % Soldier. They also liked removing the sling swivel feature as we contoured that area actually increasing the front gripping are slightly. So our over-riding criteria took over from there, which was: if a change does not adversely effect performance, we would consider it. And in the Operational testing with the Soldiers from Ft. Benning and two infantry squads from Camp Lejeune, NC, all preferred the A2 grip.
>>
>>32896392
Why you looking to get rid of it? Looks like a pretty good rifle.
>>
>>32896271
I have pretty small hands i think the diameter and texture are perfect but the angle keeps me from running it. Although ill admit that bodybuilding has cost me alot of flexibility in my wrists
>>
>>32896337
I pull with the pad normally but will fall into using the knuckle out of bad habit.

>>32896342
I do keep my stocks short but I admittedly have inflexible wrists from lifting and jacking off 11 times a day
>>
>>32896381
blame the marines for everything wrong with the a2

God damn A1s and A2s make my dick so hard. Prolly because they were the ones my action figures had.
>>
>>32896423
for those interested, definitely check out some of the other threads this guy has commented in, really interesting stuff.
for example, theres one thread where he talks about why the military adopted 1/7 twists instead of 1/9 or even 1/8

Thanks for the info.

Works perfectly fine, and comes as part of a cheap but solid LPK.
>>
>>32896462
Isn't it just because it does really well with M855?
>>
>>32896271
the only AR I have that doesn't have an A2 grip has a Magpul MIAD with the finger nub.

Nice stocks bruh.
But how many LBS is that ma'am-jama?
>>
>>32896492
its been a while since ive read it but i think what they concluded was while 1/9 would be a better all purpose twist, the 1/7 had better stability potential for larger heavier bullets
>>
>>32896513
barrel profile

bbl is the generally used abbreviation for barrel, don't ask me where the extra b comes from
>>
>>32896532
I'm'a plead the fifth on that one. It was built as a bench rest range toy/how cheap can I poorfag a .308 build, so it's fucking heavy. 20" HBAR plus a 1.5lb 25 round mag... Gotta be 10 lb loaded.
>>
>>32896271
Why anyone would pick anything that isnt the A2 grip is beyond me
>>
>>32896492
>>32896535
heres a quote from coldblue (i cant remember if this was the same thread i read0

:Forest, you are correct, but note the "M16A2" part of the answer. The M855's 62 gr. round is certainly going to perform differently in a 20-inch barrel A2, than a 14.5 (or less)-inch barrel M4 Carbine. Especially as range increases.
When we did the M16A2 program in 1980-83, there was a lot of pressure not to go to the full 1:7 twist needed for the M856 tracer round in extreme cold weather, however, one of the ammo engineers at Picatinny Arsensal (Mr. Dennis Conway) who had worked up the M855 exterior ballistic tables for me, advised that the faster 1:7 (vs the 1:9 favored by some at the time) would "provide us growth potential later for improved ammunition". Well he was right, and I am glad we (the Marine Corps) took his advice because now the shorter barreled carbines are seeing very widespread use, and if the BH's 77 gr. works better in this package at an obvious less velocity than when fired in a 20-inch barrel, then the 1:7 twist decision certainly has provided growth potential for bullets longer and heavier than the original 62 gr. SS108 or M855."

I just never shoot it. If I'm shooting ARs, its always my A2; its so pleasant to shoot. My 9mm SBR gets a lot of attention too. I'm trying to trim down my collection, so I'd rather have fewer, nicer guns that I shoot frequently than a bunch of fillers just to fluff my arsenal

I got my stripped upper from ar15sport.com, but it's like $30-40 cheaper to buy one from Numrich. Windham weaponry barrel, PSA UPK.

The numrich upper comes with the dust cover and forward assist, so you would only need to buy the A2 sight kit, barrel, barrel nut, delta ring assembly, gas tube and the flash hider
>>
>>32896838
>that 10% mutant the a2 doesn't fit comfortably
I bet you're left handed too, goat fucker.
>>
>>32896271
A2 is fine for longer guns but bad for cqb guns.

The real question is MOE K2+ or BCM Mod 3. And what color?
Discuss
>>
>>32899386
I also used the ar15sport.com a2 upper.
It's just an forged Anderson's.
>>
Anyone have a source on complete A2 uppers? Model 1 Sales seems to be the only option, and they have dubious quality. ar15sport.com's stuff looks interesting, but suspiciously cheap and unknown barrel manufacture.
>>
>>32899643
Dude read the thread, ur question is literally answered in the post above yours.
>>
Personally, I can't stand the nub, I like to grip pretty high and that nub makes it very uncomfortable.
This is the same reason I want to replace the grip on my sw 327 trr8
