Is the mini-14 a good choice for a 5.56 / .223 rifle if you live in a cuck state like I do? Ar-15's are restricted and have to be registered and in HBAR config

I've done a little bit of research and the 580 series minis are much more accurate now due to their tapered barrels

Mine sucks. Bought it new. Barrel axis is out of alignment with receiver axis by several minutes of angle. What really pisses me off is that the factory knew this since they set the rear site almost all the way to the right. Now, even with a scope, I get 4-5 inches of windage zero drift just between 100 and 200yds. Quality control is non existant. I've got 5 other Ruger firearms that are OK to great, but I won't buy another unless I test it first.

We'll fuck I really don't have many other options for 5.56 at least not in semi auto.

The other rifle I was considering was a mossberg mvp even though it's bolt action

Or I could just get an sks but they're like 70 years old

The gun I'm talking about groups fine. Plenty of 1" 100yd groups with surplus green tip. I just have to calculate windage plus drop when changing distances. There are good ones out there. It's just kind of a crap shoot unless your gun shop has a buy back or return policy. Just get one, and if it's not up to snuff, sell at a small loss and keep trying till you find a good one.
Don't waste time/money with non-Ruger mags.

Ohh. Also, the barrel twist is to slow to get good accuracy with bullets over 62gr.

yes.

I'd rather just have a Mini-14 than some freak AR-15 (Ares not withstanding).

I've had a few over the years, and they are fun and reliable in my experience. They aren't as gadget heavy as AR's, but it doesn't take much effort to mount any sort of glass you want.

Don't settle down for an ARES or a shitty Mini. Get a Czechpoint vz.58 (no not the shitty Century 2008 monster).

The best part? If you choose to live in a free state, you can just enable the magazine again and it's a normal gun again.

Seems kind of expensive for what it is? If he lives in a HBAR state idk why he wouldn't just get an AR15 with a HBAR.

Its quality is excellent though. Go see the truthaboutguns review that compares Czechpoint VZ's with the 2008 one.

Especially in a ban state, this is the closest good gun you're going to get.

Seeing how SKS's are overpriced for what it is, I'd rather get this. I live in NY, but plan on going to Virginia soon, so the magazine conversion feature is an extra plus for me.

Uh, it might be. Although stanags modified would be pretty tough, might just be a 20 rounder.

that one looks great.

it's a shame that its an abandoned platform and m14 replica parts are mostly discontinued
