Besides that, everything i get has come in great condition, shipped and arrived quickly, and the prices are pretty reasonable, especially if youre not in a hurry and wait for a special and then use coupons they email you. If i wasnt in school and poor right now i would jump on one of their maks.

I've got a 62 East German that my grandfather gave me that's pretty neat and fun to shoot but I find that with my large American hands the base plate of the mag digs into my pinky with every shot, it's not a huge deal but does anyone else experience that? It protrudes just enough to be an annoyance.

It's not underpowered, anon, but it's too heavy for its caliber and capacity. You can get a double stack 9mm for the same size and weight.

The LC9S is smaller in every way and half a pound lighter at the same price, and the Glock 43 clips 1/4" off the grip and fits 7 with a magguts spring.

Seemed to work alright. I cleaned it every single time I shot it. Worked a bunch of wads of hand towels torn up with the rod. When it came out clean I took the brush and puffy end and ran them through until it was shiny inside.

I put about 500-ish rounds through my canik before I got the cleaning kit. Pic related was how it looked after "cleaning", doesn't really look any different than it did before cleaning. I sprayed down the inside with G96 nitro solven and then brushed away but it still looks like there's crud built up inside.

That's odd. The stubby barrel on the mak was incredibly smooth inside. After cleaning and looking down you could easily see the rifling with a dull mirror finish. May just be the barrel design?

The issue with the Mak for CCW isn't that it's underpowered, it's that it has other drawbacks.

It's heavy and kinda big for what it is, limited options for sights and holsters, and 9x18 is tougher to have good defense ammo for.

I love my Mak and enjoy shooting it, but I have 3 other pistols I carry before considering the Mak.

I could see your point on weighf and size buf its really not that bad. You lost me at holsters and defense ammo though senpai. Plenty of holsters out there for maks. From original surplus, iwb or owb leather, paddle mags, tacticool russian self-cocking holsters, and other stuff. Hornady makes defense rounds for everything, and the 9x18 stuff seems to do the job well.

Now if only PMMs and their high pressure steel core ammo was more available....

I recently bought a gold Bulgarian Mak and I'm probably going to carry it this summer.
I have a conceal carry vest that is currently getting studded/spiked.

Going to get a remora for it and some hollow points. Gun is heavy, but my PX4 Compact is even more so and I carry that IWB.

Oh it's great, no complaints other than the usual that people have with Beretta, they are big, and kinda heavy.
I like the grip though, love my 92A1 as well, nice thick and kinda round grips. That being said, my CZ P09 is also fantastic which is more of a square grip.
Tell you one thing, you are going to love the recoil, aka there isn't any. Such a great shooting firearm and sleek looking as well. Older photo here, so no Gold Mak, but the PX4 is in with the rest.

From what I gather, when on safe, the Makarov firing pin is still free floating. The pin is shielded from the hammer by a block, which is part of the safety lever. Take a look at the hammer. You'll notice a notch in one side of it. When in the fire position, the block on the safety positions itself so that it will fit into this notch when the hammer flies forward, allowing the hammer to go forward enough to hit the firing pin. When on safe, the block moves up so that it is in front of the hammer face, not allowing it to go forward. (If you have one, make sure the pistol is unloaded, and play with it so you can figure out what I'm talking about.) Don't worry about the free floating firing pin. Even if dropped, it won't have enough intertia to detonate the primer.
