Iron sights do not require batteries. Every gun should have backup iron sights.

Personally, I only have one scoped rifle - and that's because it was scoped by the person I bought it from.

Most bolt action and lever action rifles can accept a Picatinny rail. Attach some irons or an RDS to that.
