Does anyone here CC a revolver? I live in a very safe area, and I haven't managed to find the "that's the one" semi-auto CCW yet, so I figured a decent revolver would do until then, and then it can just become my alt carry piece.

[kuh n-seel]

verb (used with object)
1.
to hide; withdraw or remove from observation; cover or keep from sight:
He concealed the gun under his coat.
2.
to keep secret; to prevent or avoid disclosing or divulging:
to conceal one's identity by using a false name.

I carry a G19 right now. I don't really need a revolver, but should I?
>>
>>32843010
Go for it. Try and get it down to $100 too, ask for the brother discount.
>>
>>32842993

I'm in exceptional shape. If you actually carried you'd know that an extra inch on the barrel is hardly a problem. The grip is what gets annoying.

Those raised sights are a bit of a pain though, I'll admit. Can't quite figure out why Ruger decided that was a good idea.
>>
>>32843027
$120 is already the brother discount, I'm not going to try and jew him harder.

He traded away another gun he got for a great deal and in return got this 37 and another pistol. He only offered it to me for $120 because I showed interest in it and $120 is about what it actual costs him when factoring in the value of the gun he traded and the other pistol he received int he trade. It's actually worth $450-$500, which is what he'll sell it for if I don't want it.
>>
>>32843010
Absolutely. Even if you just turn around and re-sell it like a twat you'll have made out breddy gud.

Can confirm, barrel length doesn't mean shit IWB until you start getting to ridiculous lengths. Have carried a G34 and 4" Security Six IWB with zero issues. The Security Six was one of the most comfortable carry guns I ever owned thanks to the relatively thin grip and the awesome holster I had made for it.

>>
>>32843188
If your revolver isn't a pile of shit Taurus or Charter the DA should be smooth enough to hit a man at any distance you should be shooting at someone. I fired my Security Six >>32843152 in SA maybe 10 times the entire time I had it, all in the first range trip just to try it out. Never felt the need to after that. I would have bought a bobbed hammer but I was too lazy. Even in DA that thing shoots as accurately as a Glock or 1911.
>>
>>32842478
How's the recoil? I've heard it's a bitch.
>>
>>32843219
Not him, but somewhere in between .38 Spc and .357 Mag. Not pleasant, but not unmanageable either. Even with performance equal to .357 out of short barrels, and recoil NEARLY as much, there's a lot less flash and report.

Glocks have shit triggers. I find DA significantly less accurate than SA on all revolvers. Plus, you have to stage the trigger, which is slower.

Taurus makes good revolvers.
>>
>>32843340
On my Security Six at least I could just rolled right through the trigger because it was smooth and didn't stack.

I did have a Hi-Standard .22 with a pretty shitty trigger that was basically two stages. It started about 7lb, halfway through increased to 10lb, then stopped at a wall before finally breaking at about 12lb.
>>

>>
>>32843387
I mean, I can tolerate the DA trigger on the LCR. But it still shakes the gun as it breaks, even so slightly.

But the sp101? Its DA trigger is awful; 2 stage, heavy pull even after dropping the spring weight, and awkward to pull ergonomically speaking.

I love the SA trigger break on it, but I can't imagine trying to shoot the thing for a dam DA.

hello,

I departed from semi-autos for a short while, opting for a beautiful six-shot 78' Colt Detective special I acquired while working at a gun shop. I practiced regularly with this revolver and shot well with it.

I am on board with the current paradigm of high capacity low recoil 9mm polymer pistols, I also believe revolvers (a few in particular) are good choices as a modern self defense handgun.

Personally, after viewing a lot of self-defense shooting footage on the internet I identify two different ways to go when it comes to handguns..

The first I mentioned earlier, high capacity low recoil, which makes sense given that with modern ammunition all the popular handgun calibers produce the same ballistic performance. Most people here are on board with this, basically.

The second is lower capacity, high "FUCK YOU" caliber performance guns. Such as the S&W 586+ Performance Center. This little bastard holds 7 shots of .357 Magnum in a pistol similar or smaller in size than a Glock 19. Something like this or a .44 Magnum, in my opinion, would be a good choice for STOPPING AN IMMEDIATE THREAT.

I mean, for instance, I saw footage on live leak of this asshole who ran into a J.C. Penny's at a mall armed with what looked like a Ruger 10/22, some kind of semi-auto carbine. I tried to imagine if I was standing there at a perfume counter or something when this guy suddenly appeared at 10-15FT away from me with a carbine, what pistol would I want to draw to stop him from killing me? Well, imagining that horrible situation makes me feel vulnerable. At a moment like that, in my opinion, marksmanship might matter more than capacity.. Maybe having a fucking .44 Magnum with some INSANE underwood ammo or buffalo bore ammo would be what I want. I don't know.

just thought I would share

P.S.
My opinion on good or best carry pistols:
Glock 19, Glock 17, CZ P07, CZ P07, HK USP Compact 9mm, HK P2000, S&W 568 L-Comp, S&W Shield 9mm

currently carry a glock 19

Which states? I always assumed it was more so having to do with the notion that if you have bad trigger discipline under pressure you might shoot someone unintentionally.

What's your preferred carry load?
>>
>>32844129
why tho
dont give me any of that high capacity crap 5 bullets that work vs 17 that don't. 44 has a much better chance of jerst werking than a larger number of most auto rounds

Prove it. I've heard this about a million time buy I'm 99% positive it's fuddlore

Nice grips. I want a 310 so goddamn bad but I'm not willing to pay for it so I'm deciding between SP101 3", 442, or LCR.

Unless I go full retard and find a 632 carry comp

Speer gold dot .38+P, the short barrel kind. They're hard to find these days, though.

Yeah cause the forensic examiner is gonna be able to tell right. If you can't lie and say you wanted to be sure you wouldn't miss and hit anyone else then you deserve to get fucked. This is worse than never using home rolled ammmo, like anyone would be able to tell.

Cocking a hammer is no worse than using a glocke to defend yourself
>>
>>32850628
a DA in any state can claim that cocking a hammer is a "willful, preparatory action" and rip your self defense argument to shreds. hammers will either A) snag on your shit, costing you that second that would have saved your life. or B) fuck you sideways in court
>>
>>32851127
i hope you never have to protect yourself or anyone else in a public place, like where there are cameras. you know, like anywhere..
>>
>>32847265
The only problem with that is online transactions.
I dislike online shopping because disposable one time use and done exact amount cards are not a thing. like a burner card.
>>
>>32851158
Glad to see you ignored the latter half of the post. If it's on camera then it'll be a lot more obvious that it was a good shoot/or a bad shoot. Fortunately for me I don't frequently find myself in places with cctv holding the walls together.

The weapon is live either way and I do its out its ready for use. Revolvers, SA guns, Striker guns , rifles etc. Unless you shot your own attorney it'll be ok
>>
>>32851141
>using your gun IS a willful preparatory action

is your DA a democrat, or retarded?
>>
>>32851141
>FUDDlore.gif

For an intentional shooting this argument is retarded, please stop it. The entire point of using a gun in Self defence is to stop the threat, so of course you were willfully prepared to do so. What matters is if you were justified.

For an accidental shooting, if you cocked the hammer and you admit it/they can prove it: you're fucked.

Rugers are the Glocks of revolvers.

People call them ugly, but they keep on working.

That's a fairly good description for some of their last gen semi autos too. The P-Series were aesthetically speaking some of the tackiest two-tone ghetto blasters of their age, but are overall VERY durable and reliable, being fun plinkers or even feasible carry pieces (if you're financially limited; there are certainly better options, but these will get the job done) in this day and age.

>between premeditation and self-defense

What are you on about? Premeditation is not a verb it's an adverb. You seem to be suggesting if you shoot someone DA it will be self defense but if you shoot them SA it will be murder, all else being the same.
You might as well tell people not to rack their shotguns because that shows you intended to shoot someone.
