I bought some wood AK74 upper/lower hand guards and a matching pistol grip and both sections of the hand guard are just a cunt hair off to fit on my SLR106. Time to find someone with woodworking equipment I guess.
>>
How hard is it to convert a a receiver to take a folding stock trunion? How much would a smith charge to do it?

In what way? Too long? Sand a cunt hair off.
>>

Wow, you can only shoot subsonics through the PBS-1?
>>
>>32838587
Lower handguard cutout is slightly too narrow, doesn't go past the rear sight block unless it's forced.

Upper hand guard is slight slightly too large where it fits into the front of the gas tube. Not a major deal just needs some cutting on the lower I think unless I sand it for hours.

Why do these people assume that there must be some kind of malevolent drive behind an interest in guns? That it's macabre and all about death? Why can't they grasp that we just find them mechanically and historically fascinating?

I'm pretty much a normal guy. I have no intention of harming anyone unless it's a purely defensive scenario, and even then I don't WANT to hurt the person, it's more that I just accept it as a preferable option to being harmed myself.

I like '80s-'90s Japanese sports cars, retro media equipment, hiking, and pale petite redhead girls. I'm not some Ted Bundy type wearing a raincoat and masturbating over my gun collection while listening to grindcore.
>>
>>32839527

>Why do these people assume that there must be some kind of malevolent drive behind an interest in guns?

I'm sure this has been brought up time and time again, but this belief is a reflection of their own twisted world view. They can't imagine possessing a firearm without wanting to immediately do harm to another person and they assume everyone feels the same way. When you're programmed to think and act a certain way for over a decade through the public school system and then get force fed broadcast media on a daily basis, you tend to come out the other end at least a little wrong in the head.
>>
>>32839387
I think these people are missing the larger picture. American exports were helping keep KC above water, but the Russian military's modernization was largely being paid for with oil and gas profits, just like the Saudis do. It's why after energy sanctions and the oil market crash, suddenly all those new projects like the PAK-FA and the new Russian carriers suddenly either evaporated or got severely downsized.

>>32839527
see
>>32839615
It's Pavlovian, in a way. They never hear about guns or see them without it being in an action scene where people are being killed or there was just a mass murder, so they automatically have a negative view on it, and by extension, everyone who voluntarily associates with guns as a whole. Doesn't matter how good a person you are, how well they knew you, how much you do for them, the moment they realize you care about guns, you're "the enemy" in their head, and eventually they will preemptively attack you, either socially or physically.
>>
>>32839527
It's their fucked up self projections into us. They feel they would be fucking nutcases if they had guns, so obviously you would too right?

Hey, I'm the anon who unwittingly started a bout of autistic screeching over the differences between an OPAP and M70B1 (I know now that I have an M70B1, I'm not contesting that) but I have a question about the night sites. I'm kind of interested in getting tritium inserts for them but I've seen that they're hard to obtain in the US thanks to the EPA. Does anyone know of a reliable supplier outside the US or is there something else I could use to get a night-sight effect without resorting to tritium?
>>
>>32839732
Nice, looks like the slightly goofy type 1 but still a nice rifle.

Shit, you're already half done.
Tritium can be had rather cheap.
I got mine from MixGlo out of Singapore.
You'll need this size.

http://www.mixglo.com/store/p2/T1_1.5x6mm_Vials.html

If you're not comfortable ordering from overseas, there's some guys on CandlePower forum that have them too.
But mine came in from Mixglo with no issues, including a tritium keyfob.

A little bit of silicone caulk to seal them in, and you're good.

Here's a video, it might help

So I found out the AK I am after in a WASR 10/63 GP 1985

Has the g2 trigger and tapco brake.

The wood is a bit ugly, but the gun is worn in of course, I am wondering, should I change out the stocks??

I would really like a forward grip or angle grip, but is it worth it or should I get a donger???

>>
>>32844751
That wood actually looks pretty decent as far as WASR wood goes. The new stuff is far worse.

If you want a forward grip, you can swap it out for something else but a dong will look best. Just be aware that the dong is sufficiently long enough that it may interfere with mag changes if done a certain way.
>>
>>32844781
You have to see it in person, the pic I have from the phone of the seller, makes it look prettier than it was.

I would like to keep it wood.

I have long arms and big hands if that matters for the forward grip.

Also this would be my first AK, so should I start changing mags a certain way?

>>

>>32845036

Fuck for that price if people are really interested I will see what I can find. If you can find me outside of here contact me, 2k is a fucking joke.

I agree, it's great to see the rare stuff trickle in but this is the equivalent to buying the first border guard 5.45 green mag for $2,000+
>>
To that end the first in line does set the precedent ...
>>
>>32845055
It's worse, IMO. Most of the M3 stuff looks like MAKO or CAA made it and at first glance that's what it's gonna look like to everyone except those paying attention to the actual "cutting edge" of Russian small arms (and I say "actual" since most people think "original AK-12" or "AN-94" or similar and not AK-74M3).

At least the border guard mags jump out as extremely unusual to everyone. $2K is fucking insanity for what he has. My whole fucking '83 rifle build is costing me just a hair more than that.

Anyone knowledgeable on Chinese AK's? A guy at my local shop is wanting to sell a MAK-90 underfolder, I'm supposed to go look at it Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the ones imported with the plugged underfolder holes and a tang welded onto the rear of the rifle. He said he has installed a Chinese underfolding stock on it already. Just curious what they may sell for with the rear already converted.

PBS-1 use a rubber washer(number 4) to seal off the first chamber, hold enough gas inside to work the gas piston

so shooting supper sonic with the rubber washer make it over gas.
>>
>>32845831
I'm a suppressor noob. Could you or someone else explain what is meant in that post by "hold enough gas inside to work the gas piston"?
The only piston I can think of is a normal part of the rifle. Since the gun is normally fired without a suppressor and works just fine, I can't imagine a rubber washer being needed in a suppressor to make the gas piston cycle.
>>
>>32845916
He's talking about the rifle's piston. Subsonic rounds are lower pressure and cycling is aided by the back pressure provided by the suppressor.
>>
>>32845924
So if you wanted to shoot supersonic rounds couldn't you just remove the rubber washer and eliminate the possibility of too much back pressure?

3. Revoke restrictions on importing Chinese guns and ammunition. Some gun enthusiasts hope to buy Chinese arms manufacturer Norinco’s MAK-90, a version of the AK-47 semi-automatic, and other knockoffs of popular brands the company makes. Those who want to purchase these guns believe they would be relatively cheap, and in some cases object philosophically to restrictions on buying them. Laws that effectively prevent importing Chinese weapons and components date to a 1989 executive order signed by President George H.W. Bush that banned foreign-made semi-automatic guns. In 1994, President Bill Clinton also barred sales by China’s biggest gunmaker, as a part of a trade deal. In 2003, under President George W. Bush, the Treasury Department further banned imports of Norinco after the company was accused of violating international nonproliferation laws by selling missile parts to Iran.

Proper stock has arrived. Went ahead and just bought a whole set. I think this one looks even better than the last.

Biggest mark is the bottom left of this pic and I can get over that. For $80 this shit looks great.

Are you really this out of touch with the US firearms market as a whole? Do you only dwell on AK's?
>>
>>32851683
>>32851738

Not only do they NOT have a chrome lined barrel, the barrels that were used are ridiculously soft compared to milspec AK barrels. 5 rockwell for for the ESS barrels vs 25 rockwell for milspec rifles (which includes all the major AKs on the market like WASR, Arsenal, Saiga, VEPR, Zastava, etc)

And yes I know milspec is a shitty term to use to describe semi-auto neutered US market AK's, but I'm just trying to demonstrate how soft the barrel is on the AMD rifles vs how hard they are everywhere else.
>>
>>32851824

Gun shops sell shitty AKs because the market for them is relatively small and those are the most available. Demand for any rifle that isn't specifically either an AR or a bolt action hunting rifle is comparatively low.

If Norinco started bringing cheap AKs into the US, those RAS-47s and C39v2s would be replaced with Chinese rifles.

recomendations on scopes/optics for my SAM7SF?

I've been having a hell of a time with the iron sights recently
and I want to spend even more money on something I've already thrown 1.4k into...

kek yeah, he was 100% serious thinking I could ND at any second as if people don't clear chambers and hopefully not use loaded mags when taking pictures of rifles in their own house, and he didn't comprehend that the hammers were visibly down before he started his autism fit

>>32852206
Do you want western optics or Slav optics?

>>32852213
Have you shot with this yet? How do you like it?
>>
>>32852246

still on the fence, the gun is already pretty heavy but I'm willing to go with heavier if it is better.
>>
>>32852245
Scope itself is about 1.5 pounds with the mount

Gun setup like it is in pic is about 9.5 unloaded

>>32852246
Not yet unfortunately, car shit out on me so not only can I not get anywhere I haven't spent a dime on guns and don't plan to till it's fixed. Depending on how expensive the car is to fix I may get to take it out soon or it might be a while, dunno yet

the reticle of the npz is illuminated correct? when your battery is dead can you still see your cross-hairs?

The NPZ one is literally just a PSO-1m2 with different etchings
>>
>>32852329

So they're both illuminated? sorry for the dumb questions, I guess I could just google it.
>>
>>32852344
Yes

Just google a specs sheet for a PSO-1m2 and the NPZ is the same exact thing
>not the box one of course

I'm pretty sure Belomo's POSP is on the same level too but I'll lowkey make fun of you for having one because my NPZ is cooler

What about for a 5.45 ak?
>>
>>32852388
Are you implying this is not a 5.45 AK??
>>
>>32852411
Most of the scopes I've found for under $500 are made for 7.62 AK's. While they will work, I'd like it so where the markings actually represent the correct drop of the round.
>>
>>32852426
From what I've heard 5.45 and 54r are actually decently similar

Okeechobee will only let me put it out to a hundred but I'll probably use every chevron on some paper just to see how close they get anyways

comrades.

What is a good price for a Yugo M72 RPK adjustable rear sight? I can't seem to find any online, just wondering what's the going rate for these?

They're different than regular Russian/Bulgarian/Romanian RPK sights, very Yugo rifle specific.

You could always send it to me and I'll let you know if it's shit or not :::^^)))))))

I'm really wanting to pick up an East German ZFK 4x25 now after seeing InRange's vids on it. I thought they were neat beforehand but now I want one but I don't want to pay that much, and if I'm going for that much I'd rather just shell out more for a proper quality western scope or just get a Kashtan. I love my Obzor but I'm wanting something with magnification to change things up a bit
>>
>>32851542
Chinese AK's made now are a lot worse than the 80-90s Nornicos, the Swiss and other euros consider new ones to be bottom of the barrel and worse.

When I find a PSO-1(m2) I'll sell you my current one .^
>>
>>32851683
Don't get one. The soft barrels are not an issue, as long as your not pressing it on and off for fun and profit.

The barrel installation is bad. The chamfer for the gas port is really a countersink that goes INTO THE RIFLING. The barrel pins are oversized for no real reason and some have been tapered. Watch mel64 vids on YouTube. He had taken a few apart and these have been consistent problems.

>>
>>32852980
Define beat to shit. Are you talking about high round counts or intentionally mistreating the rifle?
>>
>>32853026
Lotsa cheap boolets, bouncing around in the back of my car, dropping it when hiking, etc
>>
>>32853102
There aren't many "cheap" options currently as demand for ak's are high.

Draco with shockwave installed.
Prolly the cheapest option assuming your state allows it. This could be assembled for under $600.

Wasr
While the price has gone up they are still solid rifles. Quality of build is seldom an issue, newer wood looks nice. Akm pattern so aftermarket is endless. $650-$700

Slr 107-11
$850, lets get that out in the open. Bulgy construction, poly furniture, 14 mm muzzle device.
>>
Things I left out per my own opinion.
Zastava
I have owned m92 and an underfolder. Sold them off as I noticed issues with receivers. Axis pin holes started enlarging. Others have reported similar problems. Could have been a bad batch or could be "retail grade" materials.

Vepr
These are quality rifles and I own a few. The sporter versions require a bullet guide, slant adapter , stock and grip. You could keep the thumb hole stock to keep costs down but when you add it up you run right into slr107-11 territory.
