MTP is effective outside of europe.

DPM is far better in every terrain. DPM works perfectly in the UK and mainland Europe, because that's what it was designed for during the cold war. Using MTP in the forests of Germany looks absolutely ridiculous and sticks out like a sore thumb. It barely works in a wheat field.

DPM-D worked perfectly in Iraq, and was considered the most effective camo used by NATO in Iraq. MTP works effectively in Afghanistan, and that's it.

However, no doubt that MTP PCS and smocks are so much better than the DPM 95's.

From personal experience, I would argue that MTP, whilst not disguising you against the welsh hills or pine trees of the UK's training areas as perfectly as DPM, works far far better when you're doing the sand track/scrub/treeline transitions. It works across a better range of terrains, but that's just personal opinion.

Pretty sure the PCS smocks are one of the first items of issue tissue that universally pretty much everyone has gone 'yup, that's nice, I'll keep that'.

You still need camo to train, and in the off chance the unit has to deploy suddenly. Creating yet another uniform that can only be worn in garrison just further complicates logistics. There would also need to be a large stockpile of camies in the event of a largescale deployment, so at that point you might as well issue them out to everyone and avoid the time constraints of suddenly equipping hundreds of thousands all at once. There is no reason to not make the guy at IPAC wear the same camies as the grunt bitching about his pay.
