Hey /k/ whats your thoughts on Walther?
I am looking to get another full size handgun and something about the ergo's pulls me in. I'm stuck between the Creed, PPX, and PPQ. Or a P99 if I can find a really good deal on one.
Anyone here have experience with any of these?
>>
There is nothing but praise for the PPQ, the only downsides I've hear are:

-higher bore axis than a glock 19
-Can be finicky about cheap ammo
-Cheap ammo can give it a catastrophic failure in which you'll have to beat the slide to get it to go back into battery.
-Get it muddy and it won't be reliable anymore, but this goes for most striker fired plastic guns.

I would look into the CZ-P10, it has a lower bore axis and supposedly the trigger is even better than the PPQ's.

If you can't wait though, you can't go wrong with a PPQ.
>>
>>32836125
They're excellent pistols, I have a PPQ myself. Great out of the box; awesome trigger (as far as polyframed striker fired pistols go), good sights, excellent ergonomics and reliable function.

Just make sure you get the superior mag release version. PPQ Classic, or PPQ M1 for you clapistanians.

I'm not sure this anon knows what he's talking about.

I'll look into it but I'm kind of set on a Walther for now, I just need to narrow it down.

>>32836224
I'll contact my lgs to see if they have them in stock. Is that the only real difference?

Also I assume neither of you would recomend the PPX or Creed then?
>>
>>32836233
My grandfather would always have these in his truck. Whenever I helped him at work, or go shooting I had these. This is only more of a reason for myself.

Love me some walther. Actually just got home from picking up a ppq in 40

Out of all of them the ppq m1 9mm is my favorite with the p99 being very close. The grips on the ppq just fit me slightly better and why have two different trigger pulls when you dont have to?

>>32836167
>-Can be finicky about cheap ammo
cheapest ammo i can find is perfecta from wally world and it runs fine. havent tried much steel tho because perfecta is cheaper locally.
>>
>>32836250

Difference is the mag release. Doesn't sound like much, right? Thing is, Classic mags don't fit into the m2 style PPQ, and I doubt your LGS is going to carry them. So mag availability on the classic is more scarce.
>>
>>32836290
p99 mags work in the ppq m1 so that helps alot

under rated, but they really dont promote themselves (at least in the US) so its kind of their fault
theyre also slipping into the "we want the glock market" cure and making ugly ass plastic striker fired pistols that arent all that special. If they remade the p99 instead of more PPX's id be way more interested. Theres nothing wrong with the,, but theyre a dime a dozen
>>
>>32836290
I was unaware of that.
>>32836345
So, stay away from the Creed and PPX, but go for a PPQ or P99?
>>32836280
Have you fired one in .40? A pawnshop near me has a PPX in .40 for cheap and I was considering getting it for shits and giggles since I don't own a .40 yet.
>>
>>32836360
if thats what you want
I have nothing against the creed or ppx other than theyre ugly (more so then your average polymer pistol) and to me arent all that different then your average glock or M&P
the p99 and ppq are, imo, better looking and a little different in function(the p99) or have a stand out trigger (the ppq)
>>
>>32836360
>Have you fired one in .40?
Not yet, literally just picked it up. It is my first 40 as well. Figured fuck it, might as well round out the collection. Next is how to figure out how to get one in 9 IMI lol.

I think he was trying to refer to extractor breakage on steel case ammo. I've seen a few threads where people posted pics.

>>32836345
They still make the P99 and discontinued the PPX for the Creed. They should focus on getting that American plant full-force, revamp production of what people actually want (PPK, P38, P99) and then open up into rifle and pistol production. I would kill for an affordable WA2000.

With a little effort in marketing and US production, Walther could command most the DA/SA pistol market.

>>32836360
If you can find a PPX or Creed for $300 or less, go for it. The P99 AS is the best pistol in the world in my opinion, and the PPQ is just a glockized version really. Go with whatever you want, but I'd shoot for the P99.
>>
If I have a vp9, would a ppq do anything remarkably better, or would a p99 or creed be more interesting?
>>
>>32837540
PPQ's are more reliable, have better triggers, better ergos, better mag release, better looks, and the P99 has all that and en even better trigger.
>>
Is the P22 garbage?
>>
>>32838181
Walther is owned by a toy company called Umarex, that is why you see the Walther roll mark on poorly made .22 variants.
>>
>>32836280
I've heard the p22 is garbage. I've also heard it's good if not finicky about ammo.

I want a .22 suppressor host. Would you say yea or nay?
>>
>>32836125
Modern walthers are toys. Buy HK.
>>
>>32838006
I have a P99 and find the PPQ's trigger better for range use.

Get a 22/45 or a Buckmark
>>
>>32838364
>>32838503
Appreciate it, but I'm looking at either the P22 or an M&P22
>>
>>32838318
Its ok if you use high speed quality ammo like CCI. The only real problem with it (and the ppq) is the slide wont go all the way forward when you insert a new mag and hit the slide release. Personally I dont see the point in buying a p22 when a ppq 22 exists...hell thats why the cans not on the p22

>>32838503
they make a mk 4 with a threaded barrel and button release. prolly a better pistol over the 22 walthers but the heart wants what the heart wants.

>>32838630
Noted. Thanks braj

>>32838361
The P99 single action is way better than the PPQ's trigger, the PPQ is just consistent instead of offering double action.

That is pathetic.
Walther pistols kind of look like airsoft now that I think of it.
>>
>>32840334
Jetfires are neat. I think I'm getting a Walther Model 9 for my pocket gun.

>>32840345
this isn't true though, its the other way around. they own Umarex and contract them to make their shitty cheapo guns because its easy on their wallet

Walther Arms is small.

>What people really want
The sad part is that Walther in america actually seem to be aware of this, but licencing is a shitshow with the Germans.

Apparently a production run of new PPKs has been made by walther in america, but they don't have approval to sell.

Otherwise, Walther basically brought it on themselves by working with S&W, who I swear break everything they touch. The Interarms tax is real.
>>
>>32839524
Oh no doubt. I'll have room pick one up if I ever get the chance. I'm kinda glad Bersa or all companies make a "modern" version of it.
>>
>>32836125
Something about how they look is just off
The grips on the P99 are just awful, only slightly better than an XD
You should only get one if you cant afford an HK
Also only get hammer-fired HKs
