You need a .357 MAXIMUM with a muzzle brake (and probably a cushioned grip).

Its as powerful as a .50ae.
But you can also fire .357 mag.
And .38 special out of it.
And if you're babying your hand after firing that big maximum, you can even toss those piddly ass .38 shorts too.

The .357max will push a 210gr flat nose out the muzzle at 1500+fps

Those aren't even particularly hard to find. French equipment isn't anywhere near as collectible as American or German stuff.

You see them sell on Gunbroker in good/very good condition for like $400-450 last time I checked.

I will acknowledge that the straight 36 pattern ones can be a bit harder to find that the 36/51 variant, but they're still around.

It's an interesting rifle that tries to do something new.
Mine has been very reliable and the QD barrel makes cleaning a breeze. Also you can go from 16 inches to SBR in literally 10 seconds.
The fact that it makes AR drones mad because it doesn't look like an AR clone doesn't hurt either.

357 "maximum" it sounds like some video game fictional caliber, but its one of those when reality is stranger than fiction deals.

Fun thing is a speed loader will hold those rounds just like it would for a 357mag.

Why does anybody need a .50 AE when this probably pierces even deeper into the bear (lighter but also narrower so it experiences less resistance, and its just as powerful).

I'm fairly happy where I currently am with complete guns and my builds. I also feel like I have enough practice ammo on hand--but would like more hunting ammo as well as defense ammo.

Aside from that, I'd like to add a few guns I feel are desirable--like a Swiss-built Luger 1906 or Sig P210. I'd also like to do a Swiss 510 build, as well as find a real Sig 550. And maybe round out my bolt-actions collection with a Swiss 1889 and also an unconverted 1896.
