As long as you have medical, food, and water rations, communications, are familiar with your local hazard risks and your community's EOP's and evacuation routes, you should be pretty well set.

Luckily my grandpa was a cold war prepper and started the shelter way back when, by the time katrina hit he had it mostly completed. He passed away shortly there after and left the land and everything on/in it to me. I completed his dream and now have a nice nest egg if anything was to happen again. He made it 50ft underground with two decontamination pods on the way down. I believe he worked on some classified stuff but he never told anyone. He sure knew his shit.

What part of MS? No way we could build that deep here without hitting the water table, most people can't even have basements on the coast.

Shelter in place with my guntoting redneckbros.
My land is low but didn't flood during Joaquin and was a farm. I raise chickens for eggs and as bug-destroying pets and could live off what they produce. (Chickens are popular globally for good reason, if you live someplace rural, get some and learn about them via backyard chicken sites.)
I have an excellent shop and tools and the skill to use them.
My neighbors are white, armed and capable.
My shipping container shop is heavy enough I've no worries about hurricanes. My buildings are separated sufficient that any can burn without igniting the others.
If the excrement really hits the Emerson I'll take in a capable friend with his family because I've enough land to raise more food but personnel would help.
Survival is a team sport.

Well, realistically, the capitol is a prime target for whatever SHTF scenario, so I'd probably be fucked. I don't even have food and water stocked up in my apartment; all I have is my G17 with some ammo. I'd probably just become a marauder. But if I had to leave, I'd do so on foot. Fuck trying to drive out of here, since all the roads will become congested and impassable. I'd either go east toward West VA, or I'd follow the Potomac away from D.C. Either way, I'm probably fucked.

Planning for one singular SHTF event is retarded. Your kit should encompasses as many events possible rather than sitting waiting around for one. Because if that one thing doesn't happen it can lead to something called prepped depression, this is a situation where someone has prepped for something specific, it didn't happen, and then they feel like a fool and I have read articles on people who have straight up committed suicide because of it and the threat of planning for singular events.

Phoenix
Don't know, since I'm in a population center that I think is 50/50 for a target I have a feeling I wouldn't actually be able to escape the city without a very large heads up.
If I couldn't make it out, I would like to just climb on top of my apartment building to witness the explosion and hope they take me away.

in the event of a hurricane that actually decimates this city, i will walk two blocks to the medical center and seek shelter in one of the many skyscrapers there, because that worthless flood cant climb 20 stories.
Then, i will emerge from my hidey hole once the worst has past, steal a boat, put some nair on my scalp, and spend my days doing my best kevin costner LARP
I've been saving thousands of cigarettes for this exact scenario

Try to stay put as best I can, work with the community to make the best life possible for ourselves. Use current farm equipment to make the most of diesel fuel and quickly prepare ground to garden in etc.
