that's pretty low for a carrier, depends how much sewing you do and your willingness to craft. also how much you like the look, something to keep in mind, all french armor is supposed to be pretty uncomfortable. didn't have any issues with the assault vest though.

They're both shit but the ""plate carrier""/SWAT vest/whatever would be better in terms of the armor it can hold. Neither includes soft armor or plates so you'd need to buy your own, I'd look for police style or BALCS soft armor to fill the vest and MAYBE you can nigger rig a SAPI to fit.

the assault vest has very specific plate pockets and no soft armor spaces, it's just padded internally. i got it because i thought it was cool but if i needed it to stop bullets i'd have to buy lvl3 kevlar plates and cut them to fit. the flak vest (i'm pretty sure) has space for soft armor panels that can be sewn shut to fit standard plates even if the plate pockets on it are too small.

my recommendation would really be to buy an iba carrier and get front and back ceramic plates for it when they go on sale. i paid $25 for mine, but i can't point you to any for that price.

anon linked a full heavy assualt kit with side/throat/groin/ancestor panels. You don't really need all that.
