Thinking of getting a gun that can accurately hit at a 1000 yards. Thinking of 6,5x55 Swedish for the caliber, but cant seem to find a lot of manufacturers for it. What would my best options be?
>>
>>32827353

30.06 if poorfag, .50 if bucks up.
>>
>>32827353
theres alot more that just getting a gun capable of shooting 1000 yards

Accurately make holes in paper at 1000m or humanely kill critters at 1000m?
>>
>>32827380

The guy wants a RIFLE that can hit at 1,000 yards, not a lecture from a fudd
>>
>>32827353
Sure, if you're Swedish. Plenty do, although the 160gr round noses like that aren't ideal for it.
>>
>>32827380
Oh yes but the Gun has to be the thing i look at first, then the scope?
>>
>>32827403
Then give me options! All info I take to heart.
>>
>>32827353
175gr .308 is just fine for that. Don't bother with weird stuff.
>>
>>32827425
He's Swedish, it's not weird for them. Common as fuck in that end of the world.
>>
6.5 Creedmore
>>
>>32827432
Do they not have 7.62x51 in sweeden?
>>
>>32827432
>>32827425
The availability of the ammo is of no concern. I just want the best caliber for hitting paper/plates
at 1000yards.
>>
I have a Swedish Mauser I inherited from my grandpa. Love it to death but I wish I could afford to shoot it more often.

6.5 creedmoor
7mm-08
.338 lapua

cheap, fun, quite accurate
>>
I like my Krag which fires 6.5x55. But I see no way, even if fitted a the scope the size of a bucket and in a bench rest, that those rounds should do any good at a distance of 1000 meters. There just isn't that much powder. Now, if you up it to 7.62x51 then maybe. And I'd still want that rifle to have a heavy barrel and a bipod.
>>
>>32827375
>.50 being used as a precision round

go back to COD kid
>>
>>32827353
Premium 6.5 swede isn't expensive. I don't know what the fuck people are talking about.

I picked myself up a howa1500 in 6.5 swede. I have yet to finish this project so I can't report on accuracy.

As for price I see a retail price of around 30-35 bucks a box for match nosler.

¿???¿

The longest confirmed sniper kill was with .50 bmg. From an m2 with a nigger rigged scope no less
>>
>>32827587
A quick google search shows that the longest confirmed sniper kill was with a L115A3 using .338 Lapua, a dedicated precision round.
50 BMG is meant to be anti materiel, not precision (though some variants may be) and especially not any that are going to be fed into an M2.
>>
>>32827530

No experience with that, so can't tell. Since you are only interested in precision and not in strike power the bullet size as such is not important.
>>
>>32827678
I appreciate all the help.

.308 seem Nice though, What kind of rifle would be suited for that?
>>
The M2 thing is relevant because the sniper 50 is a result of a marine sniper putting a scope on one of the best M2s in his unit. Vietnam era iirc. Which gives you the Barrett and funz. For everydayman this has no interest because .50 isn't exactly accessible ammo - not where I live anyway. But even if you could buy a gun and ammo in that calibre - what is it that is 2000 meters away and stand still, and so big that someone without sniper school can hit it?
>>
>>32827491
>Underloaded Krag-safe 6.5 Swede doesn't perform as well as modern stuff

Really tickles my nipples.
>>
>>32827706

.308 , aka 7.62x51 is a popular military calibre. Used to be the NATO standard. They used to rebuild k98s to it back in the day, especially for the shooting clubs, and afaik a common as dirt Remington 700 something should be available in it.
>>
>>32827739

I'm a reloader. Underloaded my ass. But the question is always what you compare with.

if your not reloading dont even bother with this dream
>>
>>32827353
Honestly, any gun chambered in a round with the word "magnum" in its name with a proper "match" loading should be able to hit 1000 yards reliably. Most battle rifle cartridges (like 6.5 Swede) can reach 1000 yards too but they where never designed to be accurate that far away. The shooter has more to do with accuracy than 98% of guns anyway.
Find a "precision gun" that fits your budget and see what chambers it is offered in. Do some research on the cartridges from there. Then buy the gun.
>>
>>32827353
.22 eargesplittenloudenboomer

You can't be inaccurate if the bullet doesn't have time to be inaccurate
>>
>>32828149
Did Ackley even bother using a rifled barrel? The whole point of the round was to go fast with no other considerations.
>>
>>32827529
This desu

You wanna get gud, lern2math and shoot your gun's MOA at pretty much any range

Because your MOA and your gun's MOA are additive, you can have a 0 MOA gun and still shoot 12MOA groupings because you were hoping that distance shooting was just point and shoot.

But having a 4 MOA rifle means you can shoot 4 MOA groupings if you're good enough
>>
>>32827797
Fuck off. Norwegian Krags have to be underloaded on purpose to work safely. Regular Swede Mauser or Scan pressures are dangerous in a Krag.

As for the rest of the idiots ITT with no clue what they are talking about- a 140g HPBT 6,5 has a much better BC than a comparable .308 HPBT.

6,5x55 is a great entry tier long range cartridge, much better than .308/7,62x51.

I've got Swedish Mauser. The sights adjust to 1400m when you flip them up. 6.5x55 is awsome!

Why not learn how to pick a cartridge for yourself instead of having some idiots on an Malaysian dog breeding forum spoon feed you?
>>
>>32827450
In that case, get yourself a special snowflake round like a 6 mm dasher or 6.5x47 lapua or 6.5-284.
>>
>>32827353
.338 Lapua Magnum, for rifle get Sako TRG-42, is of good snow elf worksmanship.
