Makes sense. The inspiration for my SBR has a LaRue forgrip. Damn thing costs like $110 for a basic grip.

The stock is another $120 and you need to get a $150 propriety heavy buffer just to get it to properly cycle. The rail is another $200. Don't even want to imagine how much the upper and low run here.

I would be building either on a non gear queer budget.

if its a 10.5' pistol, i would go something like a >PSA upper

if it were a 9mm I see it being more expensive but i would keep it as low as possible and use a lower designed for 9mm mags. leaning colt mags.

In this pic it has a Troy rear sight and a no name front sight since PA ran out of Troy front sights on black friday

I've since taken off the irons and am planning on putting a Burris fastfire 3.
This week I ordered an Aero precision upper without the forward assist and an Ergo 4.25" Z float rail.

The last thing I'd like to do to it is to get a really nice single stage trigger and throw it in there.

I guess I've really never added it all up before but after stamp the thing was under $1000 without sights. Thats due to the $20 'airsoft' rail I bought for it, but even with the more expensive one i just purchased its still just north of $1000. Add to that the fact that you can build it over time to not make a big expense, like purchasing an MP-5 or something would be.

Broheim a 9mm PSA build isn't going to be any more expensive than a 556 one. 9mm BCG is $100, 9mm barrels are $100, the complete lowers are the same as the 556 ones.

10.5" ar is pretty comparable to a 14.5 minus a couple fps which is why most sof guys are switching to the 10.5 platform.

Also there is ammo specifically built for short barreled ars that will perform great out of a 10.5 5.56
