Fun fact about the "overbuilt space pen" meme. Yes, NASA spent a bunch of money designing a pen that would work in micro-gravity. The Soviets, used pencils.
However, the reason we didn't use pencils, was because the lose graphite would drift into the delicate electronics and start fires. While there's not a lot of official confirmation from the other side of the curtain, we suspect that at least one of Russia's failed space missions ended due to an electrical fire caused by "Lol, pencils, Americans so stupid."

fyi, a LAW tube weighs 2.5kg.

A PG-7VL is 2.6kg, OG-7V is 2kg, plus you have to carry the launcher.
