Let's see, I've used LaRue slings, Several Blue Force Gear slings, and now a Vtac sling.

My favorite is the Vtac followed by the LaRue sling for ARs. But Blue Force has been the best I've used for my AK. I kind of want to try a HSP but I have no need for it at the moment.

I've thought about just buying a pad and threading it on to see if it makes a difference.

Has anyone used those Haley strategic slings? It seems like everyone uses VTAC, blue force, or magpul around here.

Just wanted to add, this being the first AR I've every completely assembled myself, I'm really living it. This is the first upper I've ever put together, and it was a fun experience, and makes me appreciate the gun all the more.

I'm debating it. I'd really like to, but I just bought a bunch of stuff. I may wait until after my tax return to get it done.

I'm still thinking patriot brown is the way to go. I'd probably just do the receivers and handguard, but after seeing some other cerakote jobs, I'm thinking of getting all the other furniture/accessories done in FDE or coyote.
>>
>>32792261
Yup, it's supposed to have thread locker but since i over torque mine, i use anti-seize
>>
>>32792276
You can't use a torque screwdriver because the handle is too fat to be able to get to those bolts

So basically you need a small inch pound torque wrench?

Maybe find one with a 1/4" drive and use a 5/16" socket adapter or whatever the size of your bits are. That's tricky

Reason number 129 I hate hard armor. I tend to wear the sling around my neck only any time I'm doing a lot of shooting, as comfy as the padded Vickers is for extended periods of use, it really starts chapping my ass if doing neck only.

What interests me about the HSP sling is how small/thin he's gotten his pad and how compact of a package it is overall.

$90 for a sling makes my butthole clench though, and I'm generally not a cheap bastard.

As much as I love ACOGs, do you have any interest in low power variables? ACOGs are light and tough as fuckall, look really good on clones, but beyond that are starting to show their age for lack of flexibility.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Now I'm in a financial dilemma. I'm not a poorfag but I'm funneling as much of my disposable income as possible to building supplies for the house we're building.

My dilemma is choosing between the B5 SOPMOD or B5 Bravo and a different grip than the A2.
>>
>>32792682
>lack of flexibility
I'd rather have an ACOG+RMR combo than a 1-4x.

I might eventually get a Razor HD, but rotating my rifle from the right eye focusing through the ACOG to the RMR over my left eye is always going to be faster than switching from 4x to 1x or 1x to 4x on a variable.

They both have their merits, but I don't think ACOGs + RMRs are dated at this point.

I don't think you would be in bad shape with either...I used to feel the same about switching from an offset red dot to the ACOG as opposed to changing the zoom level, surprisingly they are about equally as fast in practice on my end, with the edge actually going to the low power variable under competition conditions.
>>
>>32792682
>ACOGs are light
The micro ones are, but the TA31 is about the same weight as some of the better 1-5x/1-6x variables and heavier than some of the good 1-4x variables.

Didn't realize the TA31 was ~14oz...pretty heavy for a fixed 4x. Still lighter than most really good low power variables, save for maybe the Leupolds and some of the $2000+ offerings.

I think we can all agree that ACOG+offset dot or low power variable...neither will suck nearly as much cock as a magnifier setup.
>>
>>32792818
This. At least mostly.
>Trijicon ACOG TA31: 9.9oz without mount
>Leupold Mk4 MR/T 1.5-5x (1" tube): 9.7oz without rings
>Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4x: 9.6oz without rings
>Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4x mod 1: 9.5oz without rings

Most of the 1-6x's are more than a couple ounces heavier.

>>32792886
A complete ACOG with base is kind of an unfair comparison since you'd have to add rings or a cantilever mount to anybody's low-power variable. The TA31 without the factory thumbscrew base is only 10oz (and when paired with a light aftermarket base can be a complete package for around 12.5oz). But yeah, the "ACOG is light" meme is just that, a meme.

Also, yeah, fuck magnifiers.

Hey amigos.

New to the AR scene. Own a few handguns and hunting rifles, but really wanting to build an AR.

I've done a ton of research and it seems like there's like 3 tiers of ARs

>Tier 1: Noveske, KAC, Daniel Defense, LWRC, etc.
>Tier 2: BCM, Spikes, Colt, S&W, etc.
>Tier 3: Stag, DPMS, DelTon, Walmart Special, etc.

I keep seeing Palmetto State's name thrown around a lot. They have cheap blem lowers and affordable uppers. Where do they fit into the fray? I've read that they use primo-tier barrels and come standard with full auto rated BCGs.

I guess what I'm asking is how does PSA fit into the picture? Good quality stuff or sub-par like Aero and DelTon?

Tacswap is the page and its probably the largest audience. The PVS-14 deal was kinda a rare thing. Dude had to have been hard for money or it was stolen valor.

Buying/selling on IG is kinda risky. You gotta look at people profiles and see how many they've post, how many follow them, how many they follow. Just basic shit that screams scammer. Everything ive sold so far has used Paypal as well.
>>
>>32793162
It's not all bad, skipbo32 has had some great wares over the years, and the buyers I've sold to have been good to deal with on average.
>>
>>32793179
based on your list SOME psa uppers would almost go T1 but the usual run of the mill shit they sell would be T2 imho and PTAC is like T4

PSA tends to use passable parts, but their QC is atrocious. I've had two uppers from them, both times they shit the bed on some small stuff, like a canted front sight post. I won't buy from them.

Their barrels are also far from primo. They are FN barrels, but that doesn't mean they are the same quality as all other FN barrels. PSA's top shelf line will generally be shooters though and you can expect pretty average grouping/accuracy from their hammer forged barrels as you can any average AR.

They are firmly in the budget tier, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you want some cheap fun and a relatively reliable gun.

I shill for BCM because they have never send me a dud. QC is pretty high and I appreciate their work ethic.

Best way to get advice is to tell us what you want the gun to do, what your budget is and what features you would like.

Literally identical for all intents and purposes. Unless you an autistic clone maker, B5 sopmod all day every fucking day and twice on Sunday.

The only difference I've ever been able to tell between the two is that the LMT is silky smooth on the cheek rest and the B5 has a very slight grainy texture.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Helped me dodge a bullet. Really appreciate it.

I'm wanting to go for something solidly reliable without being too expensive. I know DD, Noveske, etc. are out of my price range, so right now I'm looking at BCM which is what my shooting buddy runs.

I'd prefer a free-float 16" upper with a quad rail, but all that seems to be available now is Keymod stuff which seems overly complicated to me.

They've got uppers with rails in stock right now. Keymod isn't really complicated at all. It's looking like mlok has won the day though with .mil contracts, but there are plenty of accessories for both out there and likely will be for the foreseeable future.

Also, the swap from the polymer safety and polymer trigger housing to the enhanced safety and metal trigger housing is pretty easy too.

ive got the HK45ct and USP9t and theyre incredible. i cant recommend them enough. ACOGS are gamechanger optics though. TA33 rmr and TA31 are what I have and theyre incredible optics. I will say though that the 45ct is my most favorite .45 that I've ever had and the same goes for the USP tac in 9mm if I had to pick one. Not everyone loves HK factory babyshit brown desert but I wanted to be annoying when I got mine and have grown to love it.

I have no idea desu. At this point I've dumped stupid time and money into my Mossberg 500 so cost isn't really much of a factor in it anymore as long as I like it.

For a while I was pretty tempted in picking up a Super Nova and doing something similar with it. I really like shotguns, I think they're a blast to shoot, especially slugs.

The barrel is visibly larger behind the gas block. That's not a bull barrel.

Even if the barrel could be the same diameter from the muzzle to the receiver (which it can't, it has to be thin for the gas block and thick for the chamber), it still wouldn't be a bull barrel, it would be a pencil barrel.

I hold my rifle however it needs to be held for whatever I'm shooting at. Don't really subscribe to the "right and wrong" ways, just what gets bullets on target. If I'm looking to get my high speed shit going in competition or doing my best Travis Haley impression I'm generally C clamping pretty far up on the handguard though.

In for LWRC. Their DI offering is great. If you're a piston guy, then there really isn't any other way to go.

Only down side is they don't make their DI in anything else but 16 inch mid length. So if you're looking at 14.5 or 18 inch SPR, that's off the table.

I like mine. Pretty fair deal at $1400 before fees and shipping. Wouldn't want to pay much more than that because they cut costs by omitting iron sights, muzzle device is an A2, trigger is basically an ALG ACT, and the buttstock is their cheapo B5 clone. On the other hand it also has a lot of good selling points. It's just not as stellar of a deal as I originally thought.

The REPR I shot was really nice as well.

That was in George Washington national forest north of Virginia tech. We camped in the NF and shot at a nearby unstaffed public range that was also in the NF.

It wasn't all rosy. The second day this underage looking sperg guy showed up. I let him shoot a few rounds through my guns at his request and he muzzle flagged a guy. He got chewed out and I felt bad by extension even though it wasn't my fault. That guy caused problems for other people too iirc. There were also some obnoxious people there.

There were anime cosplayers but that kind of stuff doesn't bother me. No fursuits. The organizer (creepfinder) has sort of gotten firm on that and doesn't want people to use nuggetfest as an outlet to attention whore with their weird quirks. He still allows cosplays but doesn't want it to be center stage exactly.

I got to camp out, sleep under a tarp in the rain, and shoot tons of really cool guns I had never shot before, so I had a great time.

When are they coming?
>>
>>32794684
The gucci market is bound to take a hit from that.

Just wait for KAC stripped lowers and RIS II's everywhere.
>>
>>32794694
No clue. You can preorder them tho so probably soon.

>>32794695
KACs rollmark will definitely take a hit in the gucci status.
>>
>>32794704

I'm just gonna say fuck it and pre-order. Thanks, lad

At least I almost entirely count on FNH not selling their M4 collectors series lowers and stripped receivers.

Hmmm, if not KAC what should my next lower be. Or should I just go SCAR?

Pretty in black. Grabbed mine in FDE and the first thing I did was swap the trigger for a super-tricon. It's super soft shooting and just feels rugged. I like how they included the AFG and some rails.

I was considering swapping out the mini sop-mod for an MFT, but the mini grew on me to be honest. Tossed a Surefire MB on it for good measure.

The spiral fluting is another love it or hate it type deal.

All in all it's a great gun imo.
