Hi guys! I am an European prepper looking for a .22 rifle to hunt small game if society collapses.

Now my main concern is durability of the rifle.

Is bolt action more reliable than semi automatic?

Is wooden stock more durable than synthetic one?

Which .22 do you recommend?
>>
>>32762957
Also which .22 ammo is best
>>
>>32762957
get a CZ 455 or 452
bolt is more reliable and allows you to use CB caps or shot cartridges
>>
>>32762957
>>32762966
Bolt action is more reliable especially on a .22 because .22 is dirtier as a result of the primer.
Wooden is heavier in general and synthetic is a bit stronger, but it depends on the type of wood. Being a .22 it's probably cheaper wood.
Ruger and Savage are genarally the best in the world of .22 semiauto.
CZ are good in general.
>>32762966
CCI makes good quality cartriges. Aguila if you want match quality.
>>
>>32762957
Synthetic stocks are more durable but a wood stock will last a hundred years with minimal effort so it really doesn't matter.
>>
>>32762957
Marlin and Remington make good bolt action 22.s

Make sure to look at the age of a rifle and also check the bore.
Many .22 rifles are great at first glance but the rifling is shot out because it has 20 years and 100,000 riunds under its belt.

It's very hard to get an old one in my country so i am buying a new one. But the cheapest are 320€ which is already 400$

Add the fact that the gun license costs around 600$
>>
>>32763158
>gun license costs around 600$
What country specifically?
>>
>>32763173
>.> do i have to tell? You need to pass a written exam and health test. Also safe gun handling training.

Then you need to sign up for a range which is at least 100 dollerydoos and you need a safe for the rifle under regulations

>>32763208
France ?
>>
>>32763208
You should research on places that aren't 4chan and make sure the rifle you get is really what you want.
>>
>>32763158
What is this cheapest 320€ rifle?

What does an Anschutz 1416 cost there?

>>32763214

Slovenia. The average pay here is 1000$ but still all the decent guns are around a 1000$ and getting a gun is really hard
>>
>>32763246
I saw a used one for 300€ i think a new one is at least 600€ if not more
>>
>>32762957
buy an AR you dumbass, it's just a more powerful 22
>>
>>32763268
Can't get one. .22 has the lightest rounds 500 weight only 4lbs
>>
>>32762957
In euro countries you'll typically need an authorization to get one, so might as well get an AR15 or a handgun. As opposed to a bolt action that you'll be able to get with "only" a license. Semi-auto .22 guns are finnicky and require high velocity ammo. Synthetic stock can't be damaged with water, but can't be repaired if broken and look like shit.

tl;dr : get a CZ455

OP, first of all, great choice.

The 10/22 is the standard of semi auto reliability in a .22lr rifle configuration.

They're pretty reliable and whether people like to admit it or not. Good for self defense in a survival situation as well.

10 rounds of the hyper velocity 1700fps 40 grain hollow point rounds will fuck anyone up. There's also very reliable 25 round magazines if you can get your hands on them.

You can also suppress them with a cheaply and easily made makeshift suppressor and the right subsonic ammunition.

If you HAD to get one. Get the 10/22. But if you can get a bolt CZ and a 10/22, get both then.

The ammo is cheap, and you can easily carry 500 rounds in a backpack. At home you can store thousands easily. The ammo is easily found and trade-able and sellable. Not to mention very versatile

In regards to the stocks. If you live in a very cold weather environment and can see yourself carrying this in very cold weather temperatures, get the wooden stock, since the plastic one can become very brittle and break when frozen.

Another plus side to wooden is that you won't stick out as a tacticool geardo with excessive loot. You might just come across as a hunter and be left alone.

Great Choice OP. With my 10/22 I can reliably hit a paper plate sized target at 300 yards. Practice

>semi autos require high velocity ammo

No, quite the opposite. If it's high velocity ammo, the springs and bolt carrier will take more of a beating (though they will still cycle) They tend to work best with standard ammo.

Where they do have problems cycling is with very low powered subsonic ammunition. But only the lowest powered one like the CCI quiet. Most typical 40 grain subsonics still reliably cycle my factory non moded 10/22.

Though for the life of me I can't get the 60 grain Aguila subsonics to cycle in it

>>32762957

If you can get your hands on a 10/22, do it.

>great out of the box, but with expansive aftermarket
>detachable box magazine from the default 10-rounders (probably stuck with this as a yuropoor) to 25-rounders or more
>made in the USA, not in flipland or huehueland
>180-220 in burgerbux

It's basically flawless.
