Hey, /k/. /pol/ here.

How difficult would it be to capture and indefinitely occupy a small portion of land in southern Africa? Asking for a friend

nigger you can buy hundred-acre estates in SA for like $500k. that's cheaper than the few billion you'd need to pay for men and tanks.

Have fun dealing with people who are more desperate, ruthless and well-armed than anyone you have ever encountered. Can you livestream the whole thing on a bodycam?

>Billions for tanks
Why spend billions when you can field hundreds of a superior Croat-tanks for the price of 10 prostitutes and a barrel of vodka?

If you're asking here, it's not even close to being within your means.

Theoretically speaking, it would be relatively easy if you were interested in a godforsaken plot of land too irrelevant for anybody of real importance to care about, "relatively" being the operative word. You'd need some hired guns to do the heavy lifting, and I doubt they'd jump at the opportunity to be paid pennies by some imageboard autist to perform a landgrab.

There's also the fact that whichever state you illegally intrude in probably won't be thrilled that some strange armed men are squatting in their bush, and will either sic their regulars on you or get some mercs of their own to clear things up. In fact, if the state has their hired guns on retainer, the mercs may even initiate the offer to go after you because they'll perceive you as a threat to their continued operations, and by extension their paycheck.

Competition between PMCs is no joke, it's not nearly as common now as it was back in the golden days but it's still something to be wary of. Small PFs are often subsidiaries of larger firms, so even when two small groups go up against each other, sparks fly and things can escalate pretty quickly.

Of course you can skip all this horseshit by going with >>32757485 's suggestion.
>>
>>32757664

A volunteer force of likeminded men, then, would ease the burden on the budget.

Say Nambia for example. A third of the country is on the coast, so you'd need to defend less ground as the nogs and PMCs don't really have navies capable of long-range bombardment. That's not accounting for UN/Foreign military intervention.

Nambia's current state of semi-WROL, although not conflict, coupled with its flagging GDP would make PMCs hesitant to become involved, if the state had enough money for them at all.

The geography is desolate and its border areas are mostly wide-open desert, which would allow for much easier defense.

as for >>32757485 - you'd then have to obey SA law and defeats the purpose of owning your own country

The current militant groups in the region are largely untrained and underfunded (

Billions? Shit a few million will buy you a old armored division from Russian.

They've still got T-50s - 72s lying around. Plus bmps, apc and helicopters.

Probably get a discount if they glow in the dark. (Save those for the native mercs).

The Gambian coup of 2011 was just a few dudes chipping in 100k each. It almost worked and that's a whole country.
>>
>>32757330
lol just buy it and turn it into an industrial zone. You'll be loved by the country and make money.

>capture and indefinitely occupy a small portion of land in southern Africa?
Why would you even want to? So you can starve to death?
Assuming the country itself doesn't take offense and send a small bit of police/troops in to crush you.
