Hey /k/omrades I just turned 21 and I'm going to do some handgun shopping today. I have a few guns in mind (pic related). My price range is $700. You guys got any suggestions for me to look at.

Finger fuck the FNS series if you are interested in a poly striker.
>>
>>32750520
Do you have anything particular you want to do with the gun?
>>
>>32750560
Just range shooting and home defence. Not looking for a cc yet.
>>
>>32750538
The fns has a very squared off grip, even more so than a glock I find they aren't very comfortable guns, but great controls, triggers, and sights for a $400 handgun.

h&k p2000, usp, and p30sk all fall in under $700. Those are all da/sa, which I really like, but you might not.

consider the p250. people knock the double action trigger, but it's a damn good double action trigger. but because people hate double action triggers, you can get a p250 hella cheap. I saw a p250 new for $350. This WAS 2015, so the prices have gone up

obviously look at glock.
>>
>>32750581
Then if you finger fucked the sig and liked it you would be fine, personally I would probably get a m9a3 though.

Really? The ergos are jut about perfect for my hands.
>>
>>32750520
The cz 75 p-01 omega is a sweet gun.
Excellent trigger
Probably the best ergonomics of any pistol

There is no telling what gun you would like though.
Go to a range and shoot a bunch of guns.
>>
>>32750520
Walther PPQ is right at your price point. You would also want to think about the price and availability of extra magazines if you choose something other than glock or s&w.
>>
>>32750615
>the fns has a very squared off grip
id agree with this, however Ive shot one that had the hogue grip thing on it and found it to be pretty nice. If i had 700 bucks to spend on a handgun id get a Glock 19 and a good holster and spend the rest on ammo.
>>
>>32750520
A steyr model M9 is around 550€ , which roughl translates to something along 590$ , but that is if there are still some around in Burgerland
>>
>>32750520
Joe you fucker get the 1911

like, you know how people say "the glock feels like a 2x4, or the USP feels like a 2x4?" No, the fns feels like a 2x4. I think it's a consequence of the very shallow palm swell or the angle. I don't think it's deal breaking as awful as that sounds, but it's still something to consider.

also, fuck me, I want to trade my p30 for a usp. any takers?
>>

>like, you know how people say "the glock feels like a 2x4, or the USP feels like a 2x4?"

Yes I understand that sentiment acutely as I feel the same kek

If you like the p320 try the H&K vp9. I just shot both at the range this weekend and the ergos on the vp9 were way better for me. Much lower slide on the vp9 meaning less felt recoil, and I also liked the vp9's trigger a lot better.
>>
>>32750538
I fired a buddy's in 40 and hated it. Was it just the 40 meme of snappy, or was the gun shit? I'll never know.

Buy the p320 and enjoy being superior.
>>
>>32754275
to be fair the USP doesn't feel like a 2x4. it feels like a 2x6.
>>
>>32754942
40 is snappy, the FNS design is actually conducive to recoil mitigation.

That said man up, 40 is 10mm special
>>
>>32754963
Like all those folks who felt superior for owning a 92fs right?
???

This is the sexiest gun, if you can find it.
>>
>>32755708
92fs are pretty sweet tbqh familia
>>
>>32755894
They are alright, but no one takes prestige in owning one, to expect different from the 320 is silly.
>>
>>32750618

just get the sig
>>

Butthurt glockfag detected.
>>
>>32750520
I would suggest the Walther PPQ

Same here.

First pistol was an fns 9. It is an OK pistol for the price.

That being said, after dealing with the break in period, lack of aftermarket, and gritty trigger (worse than anything I've shot and apparently no one will make an aftermarket trigger for them) I tried out a ppq and haven't looked back.

Its easy to shoot, comfortable, accurate, and has the best trigger I've ever tried on a striker fired gun.

Some might consider the trigger pull a bit light for a carry gun though.

Either way, once you have your choices narrowed down rent/borrow them and see which you shoot best.
>>
>>32750538
I really don't like the trigger safety on the FNS.

Just a little anecdotal experience. I'm around 10k trigger pulls on one of my FNS's and it's very smooth compared to where it started, there's still one little lump in the take up but the reset is like skating on ice with melted butter iceskates.

That said I agree with you I'd like more aftermarket support particularly a slick trigger kit or something.
>>
>>32750930
This. You can get a surpressor ready version for about 650 so you can get a can after they deregulate them
>>
>>32756034
for some reason I thought they were cheaper, but then I found out they were like $1000
>>
>>32754865

>Much lower slide on the vp9 meaning less felt recoil

You mean less muzzle flip. Slide height won't affect perceived recoil unless you're taking into account reciprocating mass, which is a different issue.
>>
>>32750538

Part of me wishes FN would design their own take on a USP-like handgun. I know they can do it. I also know that unless there's a possible government contract there's zero chance they'll spend the money developing it, but hey.

No, the FNX-45T is not a USP-like handgun. It's not a bad offering, but it's no USP.
