Fuddy five ACP hurts my wrist

I'm going to get a carry gun soon what can I get that shoots soft? I like how heavy full size 9mm shoots.
>>
>>32729451
If you want a steel framed 9mm, I'd suggest a Kahr. Polymer framed, shield or kahr. If you want double stack, m&p compact or g26.
>>
>>32730079
I don't care about steel/polymer but for carry I'd imagine I want something lighter weight

Also I prefer da / SA for safety reasons. Kind of off putting to me having a round chambered and a 5 pound trigger being the only thing that needs to shoot that round

.380acp is probably what you'd be happy with. You can always try a compact .40, that generally solves my wrist problems. .40 puts the snap back into your fingers, so they say.
>>
>>32730218
I really don't want a .40 it's too close to 9mm to justify having to purchase a new calibre
>>
>>32730194
nut an faggy had a stillborn. for some reason he made his wife pose for a trophy photo and for even less clear reasons he posted it on arfcom forever ago.

Try a PX4 Compact if you can. It's DA/SA and the size of a Glock 19. I've shot several of them in 9mm and .40 and they are surprisingly low in felt recoil.
>>
>>32730642
I'm not a big guy and I'm kinda twinkish will it be easy to conceal? I have never had a conceal gun before.
>>
>>32729451

go to the local range and rent all the 9mms

ranges here you can rent all 1 caliber for $20

if you want less recoil you need more weight - look at browning hipower for awesome SA steel frame but weighs 30z and is big
>>
>>32731025
Maybe I just need to try and stop being a pussy

I can't see myself being able to CC a hipower... But 1911s always make me flinch like a motherfucker and I shoot them even worse than other guns.

I shoot .22 pistols pretty well but whenever I move up to center fire I'm shir
>>
>>32731080

look at the 380s then they have much less recoil than 9mm

here is great website for gun info includes some recoil numbers

http://www.genitron.com/

the recoil number is just a math formula and does not take into account how the gun "feels" in your hand, some good examples are hipower 9mm hardly recoils but the number is 4+ compare to others

i have ruger lc380 (not lcp) and the recoil is very good for 380 because it has locked breech but it also has a DAO trigger i don't like it too much

i also have a bersa 380 blockback action still fairly low recoil compared to 9mm
>>
>>32729451

Am I retarded, or am I the only one that feels like .45 has LESS recoil than 9mm? Maybe it's just the particular guns I've shot, but I enjoy shooting .45s more than 9s.

.40 is worse than both

Shot 1911s, a variety of glocks and sigs, S&W M&P9, Hk2000
>>
>>32731140
That's a pretty cool sight.

I wonder if some of the reason I feel like the 1911 is much worse is because of the thin handle? I have small hands though so not sure.

>>32731283
I have a cz SP01 and I find it far easier on me than a 1911
>>
>>32730666

Look into a CZ RAMI. Small enough to conceal, but it's weight means less recoil. Also look into other small, but steel framed guns like Bersa Thunder/Walther designs. Also, I might be about to derail the thread, but have you thought about a small revolver? .38 is fairly soft shooting and even if you're a skinny guy you could make a J-frame dissapear pretty easy.
>>
>>32731283
I find the 9mm more snappy that the fuddy five. Maybe it has more recoil, but distributes it over a greater period of time or something.
>>
>>32731309
I have looked at the bersa Thunder a bit the combat model has cool aesthetics

.380 is quite a bit more to shoot than 9mm and so is .38. I was also looking at a LCR.

I feel like a little girl crying about recoil I never thought getting into guns that it would have to be such a consideration.
>>
>>32731320

I figure that's what it is. The whole newton's law thing would imply the heavier bullet of a .45 will impart more force, but maybe something about it moving slower softens that feeling. Or maybe it's just the particular handguns I've shot.

I've never shot any handgun where recoil hurt me, and I don't shoot often enough to have a really good mental comparison of everything I've shot. I've just seen people complain about .45s being difficult to shoot and don't get it, but I suppose everyone's different
>>
>>32731377
Op here my main deal is a wrist injury I suffered a while ago I think that's why it bothers me more than it should. I've got a gnarly scar where I had to get cut for surgery and a screw .
>>
>>32730096
I carry a cz p-07 with the hammer cocked. Roughly a six pound trigger. I unloaded it last night and was bouncing it up and down on my finger just to see how much it took to make it go off. Pretty much had to smack the back of it to get the hammer to drop.

tl;dr get a decent kydex holster and don't shove it in there without checking it first
>>
>>32732905
I have a SP01 and I did a test to see how hard it was to make the DA go off and it was pretty crazy. That would be my preferred method of carry as a noob.

I would consider a striker if it was on the heavier side. I really wanted the p10c but 4-4.5 pound striker for me is just scary low.
>>
>>32730666
Appendix carry allows you to carry larger guns much easier than any other method of carry.Get a solid gunbelt. Pair that with an exceptional AIWB holster from either JM Custom Kydex or Custom Carry Concepts along with an extra tuck option that wedges the gun's grip into your body and it's quite doable.

I'm 5'7, 130lbs with a 30 inch waist and I carry my Glock 19 AIWB with a JM Custom "George" all day in 90 degree weather with nothing but a small size t shirt and long pants.

The PX4 Compact is nearly the exact dimensions as the Glock 19 so you can take some points of reference from this post. All it takes is experimentation on finding the right belt and holster.
>>
>shoot .357 magnum
>recoil is too hard on me

>try shooting .308 for a bit
>can shoot .357 magnum one handed and not even feel recoil and can control it effortlessly

Train your weak, limp, sissy wrists.

On the topic of heavy, full size 9mm's, anybody had any experience with tristar's cz-75 clone? I want to into cz's but I'm somewhat poor right now. I could get the tristar s-120 for under 400 with the matte chrome finish. Everything I read says these are very well made and even share most parts with the cz-75

>>32732956
Ontop of that, you can thumb the hammer when drawing or reholstering which makes any unlikely chance of the gun going off accidentally impossible.

If you're weary of carrying a striker fired gun because of safety concerns and want something a bit more safe, a Glock with a gadget striker control device is a good alternative to a DA/SA gun. The gadget allows you to thumb the endplate of a Glock just like the hammer on a DA/SA.
>>
>>32733541
I have seen that. It is interesting.

>>32733380
I have looked into aiwb, I'm not really a fan so far but it does seem easier to conceal. I don't like muzzle on my dick and femoral though.

>I don't like muzzle on my dick and femoral though.

With the right placement, you can completely mitigate this. Especially with the extra tuck or wedge options for the JM Custom or Custom Carry Concepts holsters that push the muzzle of the gun away from your body and pushes the grip more into your body, it both conceals the gun more effectively while making it less likely to muzzle yourself when carrying.

When I carry my Glock 19 in my AIWB holster, it does not muzzle my dick or leg. AIWB is absolutely safe to do with a DA/SA gun, the right holster, belt and proper technique when drawing and reholstering.

This is a pretty good video tackling the misconception that you will shoot your junk off while carrying AIWB. It's all about technique.

What about muzzling others while seated or drawing while seated, driving etc.?

You should never muzzle yourself while trying to get the gun out if you're sitting down or driving.

This video with Kyle Lamb demonstrates some good tips on AIWB while driving. I make a point to untuck my shirt over the seatbelt strap that goes across my waist and place that seatbelt strap under my holster to make drawing it easier.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkAqTQf94jE

Also, AIWB is easily the most versatile method of carry. It facilitates quick access to the gun whether you're sitting or standing, compared to regular IWB carry.

And to add some more good resources pertaining to AIWB carry.

A very good post by the late Todd Green who had a huge impact in popularizing AIWB in the last couple of years.
