I'm looking to get a cannon for a largeish vessel I work on. She's a fifty-foot gaff-rigged schooner and I want to put something on the bow for signaling/4th of July/scaring hippies in the waterfront parks. I'd like something either swivel mounted or on a naval carriage like pic related.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
i suggest a flare gun
otherwise you'd need a class 3 license for pic related

Nope. As long as it's a muzzleloader and you're not shooting explosive projectiles out of it, it's not even classified as a firearm.

make your own and load light at first

This anon is right
Yay America!

This, from a quick Internet search most cannons will set you back a solid 8000
Steen cannons makes what you seek. Also the anon who thinks a muzzleloading cannon requires a form 3 is the worlds biggest dingus.

I like your style, OP.

Don't make your own OP, that's ridiculous. The money for the tools and training needed to make a good cannon, let alone a good looking one, are going to cost you as much as the cannon. Unless you want to become a big time cannon hobbyist just buy a damn cannon. They hold their value pretty well.

Yeah I knew about that, muzzleloaders and cap-and-ball guns aren't even classified as firearms. I could get them shipped to my front door if I wanted.
Thanks for the recommendation. Steen looks pretty good.
