I have one with a stainless barrel. Only shot shitty tula out of it, but from what I'm seeing it'll probably be close to 1.5 moa with match ammo. It's pretty front heavy, so I'd suggest you get one chrome lined with a lighter profile

My first shotgun was an 870 express magnum in 2007. I've never looked up when it was manufactured out of fear. It shoots fine, but it hates cheap shells.
We had a wingmaster made in the 50s until one of my step brothers stole it and sold it for drugs. It was the only gun of my step-dad's I ever had any interest in. I'd like to get another to fill that void.

>>
maybe a stupid question but tell me, if you can go shooting in your backyard or innawoods, why even bother with arm braces and such in the first place? why not just put a stock on it? i really don't get it. here in switzerland, almost everybody has illegal guns and takes them to the range all the time, nobody ever gives a fuck.
>>
How does one go about making an AR pistol?
>>
>>32713661
Start with a stripped lower, and just put a pistol buffer tube on it. Don't put a stock on it if the barrel is less than 16" unless you don't own any dogs. If you put a stock on it though, its not a pistol.

I have a wingmaster from the early 80's that I got gifted by my rich uncle. First time I disassembled it one of the shell latches fell out. They're supposed to be permanently staked in place. Such a common problem that there are aftermarket tools you can buy to re-stake them. Sasuga Remington, sasuga

better safe than sorry but most people with land just put a stock on it.

the saws are pretty strict here and if you leave your property, it's better to play it safe.

The guy that SIG bought the design for the Sig Brace from had designed it to help his one armed friend shoot his AR pistol better. There was a lot of documentation showing it wasn't designed as a stock so it should have been approved. How this new stuff gets passed is beyond me.

Remember the guy how got the letter saying it was illegal only got the letter because he specifically asked if it was ok to install the brave on a build when he intended to shoulder it. That's illegal and by asking he gave them proof of intent.
>>
>>32713759
The sig brace, and kak shockwave are not stocks, so they can be put on pistols. Don't have to do anything fancy to the receiver. If you ever apply for a sbr tax stamp, you can just switch the pistol buffer tube for a normal one.

I think you can actually just put a normal buffer tube on a pistol and put some sort of foam cover over it. Although i think in extenuating circumstances you could get in trouble if the atf managed to find that you own a stock with a ar pistol that has a normal tube on it.

I still have a soft spot for the 870. Our old wingmaster was great. I've thought of gutting my Express and replacing the barrel, but it'd probably be cheaper to just get a police magnum or buy a used wingman terms at a pawn shop.

>don't post about it on the Internet
This. Criminals usually don't flaunt their crimes on social media. Especially crimes committed on their own land.

>>32713526
That doesn't mean it won't get approved.

Nigga, please. A buffer tube is a buffer tube, not a stock. You can even dismantle one of those sliding PDW stocks and just attach the modified buffer tube, and it's still just a buffer tube.

The "pistol" buffer tube trend is just companies covering their asses from morons who think they're clever.

This is an old letter, but i haven't been able to find anything newer about buffer tubes specifically. If you use a normal buffer tube though, you cant have an unused stock laying around. Just having a stock that can be put on the pistol is too dangerous for normal citizens.

its very large in the hand. I have massive hands and long as fuck spider fingers and its almost to big for me. If I had all my gucci shit all over it I would hate it to death. Its also a bit heavy imho, but its my friends rifle and thats what he wanted. Plus for the $200 you spend on it, there better options.

So here's the deal, I'm getting a new barrel:

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-BFH-14-5-Mid-Length-LW-Barrel-Stripped-p/bcm-brl-s-mid-14lw%20bfh.htm

and I'd like a nice titanium set-screw SLR adjustable gas-block to go with it. Obviously, I need a .625" one. The problem is that they sell two.

The only difference between the two is that one has .450" Set Screw Spacing, and one has .400". I have no idea what that means.

Which one do I get?

why a Ti gas block? Just for gucci points?

any who, the .450 and .400 refer to how far apart the set screws are from each other if im not mistaken. Some barrels are pre dimpled for set screws and might have a .400 or .450 spacing.

>Thank you for contacting us. All BCM® barrels have a single dimple opposite of the gas port to properly index the gas block.

I guess that means that I could choose either spacing and be fine? Or do I need to get a dimpling jig to complete the other one? Is that even necessary?

KAC website says for an M5 RAS you must have a rifle length gas system. I know they are snowflakes but I don't see why you couldn't use it with a middy has system. Is there something I'm not aware of that prevents it from working with other gas systems or are they saying that because it has to fit in between the delta ring and a FSB. My point is i should be able to install it on a middy so long as I have a cap on the end. Make it a mock dissipator.

Hey guys I need a little help. I got a 16" barreled, mid gas, 1:7 twist upper and I'm looking for the ideal ammo to stock back. If I get FMJ, that means I don't shoot it at the range, but it also means I won't touch it. On the other hand if I get SP or HP, HP preferred, I can shoot at the range, defend, hunt, etc.

You won't find ANYTHING that's too heavy for a 1:7, a 1:7.7 barrel will stabilize the heaviest .224" bullets made (95gr) even at AR velocities, and you can't load anything heavier than 77gr to mag length anyway.
>I don't see stockpiling benefits at this point
Making sure you have enough of the same brand and load of ammo you zeroed with because while 5.56 is cheap and readily available, good deals on specific brands don't happen every day.
>I like to keep 250 rounds on hand
I like to keep 2000 rounds on hand because a normal range trip for me is a minimum of 200 rounds per rifle across 2-3 rifles plus pistol ammo. I don't want my "stockpile" small enough to be insufficient for even a single range trip. But you do you.
>>
>>32715861
>with a sorta mock dissy look
Except that looks nothing at all like a dissy or mock dissy though, it looks like someone was too poor for a freefloat.
>>
>>32715384
No.

Fleet farm blew a bunch of 5.45 saigas out for $400 a couple months ago.
>>
>>32715895
I didn't say 250 for shooting, I meant 250 in such a situation that I would need to use it to defend my life
if you think you are going to lug around 2000 rounds, you do you
>>
>>32715879
Pretty fucking good m8. Only real complaint I have is I really hate that grip.
>>
>>32715384
hell no, saiga conversions are easy as hell
sell it and buy a 850 slr from kvar
>>
>>32715907

>>32715785
>>
>>32715908
Are you one of those people that buys ammo at walmart the day of every single range trip because you are literally too lazy to buy it in bulk online?

Because most people don't differentiate "I will not shoot this" and "this is for shooting" stockpiles, and you didn't specify it was set aside for emergencies you just said "I like to kee 250 on hand" as if you ONLY had 250 on hand total.
>>
>>32715911
I had a k2 on before it and the beavertail drove me nuts. To each his own I guess
>>
>>32715912
>>32715907
Fair enough, I posted a trade ad on AKfiles and >>reddit<<. I'll see what comes up. If someone offers a fully converted Saiga I'm down.
>>
>>32715931
I meant 250 that isn't touched
no, love wolf gold
>>32715939
bad decision
buy an slr
>>
>>32715934
Fair enough. I positively love the beavertail on the K2, I really really hate skinny AR grips. I feel they promote horrible trigger finger posture since they allow you to cram your finger into the trigger guard almost to the palm web.
>>
>>32715939
There's a dude on AKFiles who has been trying to trade a rear converted 74 for a PTR. But like everyone else has said don't do it
>>
>>32715956
I like my K2, but grips are so cheap that I think I'm gonna get a bcm and maybe some others
>>
>>32715915
Yeah I saw that this morning, they're going to fuck around and not get it delivered today I just know it. I assume I will be going to the PO this weekend to get it my damn self.

Yeah I saw. I really don't feel like fucking around with a front end conversion but I do like Saigas.
>>
>>32715980
slrs are just as good/better
I know you want the arrow bro, but it's not fucking worth it, it's an AK you will end up spray painting
>>
>>32715980
How about I go buy a local WASR and I'll trade you for the PTR :^

>>32715968
Fuckin USPS. How close is that last stop to you? Hopefully not far?
>>
>>32715956
Which pad of your index finger do you shoot with? I found that the k2 was putting the trigger in the first joint, which I prefer for pistol shooting. But the bcm let me put my second index finger pad on the trigger which is much more comfortable for me when shooting long guns

KVAR and atlantic both have SLRs
Not sure the difference, but the atlantic ones are the FR and the KVARs are ps or something
not really up to date on my ak stuff
>>
>>32715962
Tru. Try them until you find the one you love.

>>32716003
First pad before the first joint, where your finger's SUPPOSED to be.
>second pad
>having literally half your finger through the trigger guard
Lemme guess, you're a 50 MOA shooter aren't you>
>>
>>32716039
Nah just always preferred it that way. dunno why but I get a much steadier straighter pull with the second pad
>>
>>32716039
I shoot with my middle finger so if I ever get captured by gooks and they cut my trigger finger off I'll still be able to shoot. Navy seal taught me that trick
>>
>>32716014
>>32715997
Someone PM'd on AKFiles wanting to trade me a WASR lel

Might as well get some pics but I don't think I want a WASR. I don't know a ton about AK's honestly but I know WASR's are on the low end.

Can't say I'm too surprised desu

WASRs are alright, they're just not the most desirable being Century imported (not built) and don't have dimples. They do everything an AKM should though. Like every other AK, just make sure it headspaces, sights are straight, etc

a wasr is worth about $600 in great shape

http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-midlength-5-56-nato-1-7-nitride-moe-rifle-kit-with-rear-mbus-516444570.html

Did I fuck up? Is it good?

Huge poorfag cunt but I saved up $1200. Next up probably a Glock for $500 and ammo and mags with the rest of the money.

What is a good defensive 5.56 round to buy?

It's not bad, but it's certainly not a premium gun.
>what is a good defensive 5.56 round to buy?
Federal LE barrier blind 62gr, Federal Fusion/Fusion MSR 62gr, Speer Gold Dot 64gr, Winchester Power Point 64gr. They all offer extremely reliable, massive expansion, some minor fragmentation (~70% weight retention), excellent intermediate barrier penetration, and they're all at or below 70cpr. PSA frequently has either the Gold Dot or the Federal LE for 60cpr shipped.

Do note there isn't a single OTM or ball round in that list.

They ALL suck in comparison, though >>32716689
