Crickets are neat little guns from what I've seen . You could also go with something like a Marlin model 60 which is very cheap as well.

To me single loading a little bitty .22 would get old fast.

It's not bad at all. Keystone even makes a full sized walnut stock for them. They're like $50 though. My dad has one and it shoots pretty well for something he has $150 in

Single shot guns aren't stupid, one of my favorite guns is actually a single shot 22 nugget. That said, a cricket is going to be small as fuck for most people over 12.

I can't think of any single shot that isn't made for children, so just get a savage mkII or the new B series, ruger american rimfire, or if you can spend a bit more whatever CZ bolt gun.
