>Why would you remove the rank slide, it's not in the way at all + how did you remove the wire hood?

I just didn't like it. It serves no purpose as it isn't (and will never) be used. Plus it reduces the weight, reduces the likelihood of snags, didn't look visually appealing, etc.

I stitched the hem along the hood where the extra flap was sewn in. It literally looks like a normal hood now.

Can omeone help me find a good size chart for French uniforms to US sizes. Keep Shooting says this is for a 56" chest but stuff I've seen on Ebay shows it's more like a 44" chest. Also trying to figure out what the difference between 112M and 112L is.
>>
>>32702566
Also I'm 72" with a 44" chest and 205lbs in case anyone has a good size recommendation
>>

The letter is Length iirc.
The number is the chest in cm I think.

males sense and 112cm = 44" so that's good. Would you happen to know how long the sleeves are between M and L?

Not that guy, are there combat boot designs that are still in use from over 30 years? Any certain design of old-fashioned boots that are still in use in modern militaries? (that can be easily purchased ofc?)

I'm looking for something of communist or East Bloc design, but all I can find (besides jackboots) is the Czech M60 design, which is available on Varusteleka but are terribly used and is a bad idea to purchase.
https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/czechoslovakian-combat-boots-m60-surplus/13359

I'm also wary of purchasing from sites like soviet-power and soviet-propaganda. I've read that they are run by the same owner who is a rip-off.

I should've mentioned, I live in a desert climate so it's like summer most of the year. Winter can be managed with more socks.

The Norwegian one seems great, though I'm eyeing boots like these. It is just hard to be sure if they are good quality or rip-off, so I want to know alternatives.

There's a bunch of surplus stores in Okinawa. Mostly murican stuff but some Jap.
Beyond that, airsoft is a huge thing in Nippon since they're basically no-guns.
Lots of airsoft stores with surplus and aftermarket JSDF uniforms and gear.
>>
>>32711759
PX goods are the closest you would ever get to getting legit JSDF gear.

PX Uniforms are considered to be authorized "replacement uniforms" if the government supplied uniforms are too torn for use.

For collection, PX Uniforms aren't bad at all.

deagles are sweet and i thought about carrying one till i actually owned one. even with the special deagle shoulder holster it hangs like a 5 pound weight, drawing it takes forever because of how long it is and you'd have to carry it condition fabric because chambering a round and turning off the safety both require a shocking amount of force.

in the time it took you to unholster and ready a deagle, someone could shoot you twice.

How do you lighten or change the color of a camouflage pattern?

I am thinking of changing the pattern of a (reproduction) Desert Battle Dress Uniform to a lighter color similar to Desert DPM or pic related.
How should I go about achieving this?

I was going to describe my experience with J-Tech, but this site's dumb AI(?) keeps on rejecting me, telling me I'm attempting spam or some shit. Fucking hell...

Anyways, J-Tech only has the standard, Summer variant available. No winter variant. Custom sheet of fabric is minimum length of 1000ft or yards, I don't remember. That's wholesale length and it's overkill for the regular joe.

Ok, so it appears 4chan labels certain websites as suspicious, wtf? I don't think I ever had this problem on Infinity.

I'm going to attempt describing my experience with J-Tech.

They're great. Their main operation is doing outsourcing work for American Tac Companies and wholesaling gear to mostly Asia based customers and Governments as well. Apparently, US Homeland Security uses J-Tech gear.

I bought some gear from them last year. A backpack, man pouch, some magazine pouches, random shit. Quality? High quality stitching, professional grade if I may say. However, they only offer Ballistic Nylon for flat colours, and Cordura in Multicam. I suspect this is because they have machines capable of readily creating Nylon for them while they must literally buy Cordura from 3rd parties?

So far, I only dealt with Ballistic Nylon from them. I'm going to attempt doing Cordura and see the pricing, but I can only assume it's going to be expensive as hell and unless I'm in the military, it's a waste of money and unnecessary at most.

Fabric quality is great, my gear is in 1000D I THINK. They use YKK buckles and zippers, they don't cheap out. From my understanding, their gear are made to be affordable but durable at the same time. They are made to last and be abused.

If you want minor modifications like MOLLE strips, removing certain areas of an item, or adding buckles or random shit on it, they can offer such service for a nominal fee ($10 USD~$15 depending on how complex it is).

These guys are based in Taiwan. They only accept two ways of payment. One is T/T transfer and the other I forgot. They don't trust Paypal which is smart. If you have any further questions, let me know. I ain't shilling for them, I'm just providing my experience of them to you guys since customized gear at an affordable price doesn't exist everywhere?
>>
>>32719994
Hey Japanon, I want to ask a question. Do you by any chance know where to obtain "JSDF Winter Field Jacket" from? A legit one exists on Yahoo Auctions, USED. The prices aren't bad at all, relatively cheap if I may say. I can obtain that instead if no other options exist.

However, I am curious if you are aware of any high quality replicas out there, NEW? For example, I'd like to get my hands on this: http://femc.ocnk.net/product/5552

But it is sold out. I need L size. The product in my link is said to be one of the best replicas out there. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have not seen one since the last one that sold on ebay.
I've checked Rakuten and S&Graf and some other sites and can't find any, so you're probably better off getting the one on YA.
>>
>>32722826
I'd stay away from S&Graf, all their SDF shit is made in China with high margins and shit quality. Their latest Type-3 replica vest is deplorable garbage shit so bad, it's the very essence of "Japanese Premium."

I rather stick with Sentou Youi's vest. For the price and quality, it's vastly superior to S&Graf's garbage. Ironically, SY's vest is superior to the Government Issued Type-3 in terms of fabric material, haha! xD

Ranting aside, I'll lurk more before I press the bid button on YA. Thanks, Japanon.

Curious to know, where are you based? Japan?

Well, as far as I'm concerned, stay away from S&ngraf unless it's necessary to buy from them. Also stay away from Tatezakura unless there's something you need there. However, you're going to need someone to proxy buy for you since TZ only ship domestic, they don't like gaijins lol.

Otherwise just order the closest gear you can get from J-Tech. That's what I'm currently doing.

If any of you are interested in ROK, well, I know a guy you can contact.

>>
>>32723344
I'm not OP, but what are you exactly looking for? How may I help you in hunting certain gear? Give me specifics and I can provide info.

You want legit or repro?

For legit, you can try Yahoo Auctions, but Government watches over those listings sometimes to pull it down. The reason being is that due to the niche market for SDF gear, there is "expensive demand" for them. Thus, an SDF member can easily sell his own shit for a very high price and easily get a replacement gear/uniform from the Government. In order to stop such practice, this is why SDF members are "forced" to give back their gear/uniform provided by Government back to Government once they retire or end their service.

Certain "semi-private" websites sell legit gear, though. PX shops and the likes of Volk Tactical sell quality shit for SDF personnel and anyone who likes gear.

Again, you can try Yahoo Auctions but us gaijins must use Proxy Services like Buyee. I trust Buyee because they are the "official gaijin service" directly connected to Yahoo Auctions. A bit expensive, but the competitors aren't any cheaper or better anyways. Unless you know a guy in Japan that you can rely on, Proxy is the only way to go.

>>32723390
Sure, you can get a generic jacket in SDF pattern, but it will not be a "legit SDF jacket." None of J-Tech's stuff are JSDF proprietary gear, as in most of their stuff are obsolete, if not OLD US gear.

For example, the Winter Jacket I posted earlier is of Japanese design and spec. You won't find that jacket on J-Tech.

And again, JSDF have two primary patterns: Summer Camo and Winter Camo

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to JSDF, but be careful not to look like farb shit if u plan on wearing it casually. I'm not good at talking so pardon me if I sound rude.
>>
>>32723476
yeah, im aware that none of this shit is actual jgsdf or even replica gear. being a 5'4" azn manlet, so even if it was all in azn sizing, it wouldnt be a problem.

also no worries bro. even if you were being rude, it's not like i dont expect it when i post here.

I hardly come on these kind of forums anymore. I just "came back" just to check out how these sort of forums are doing.

This may sound embarrassing, but it's frustrating when moderators don't kick out or ban absolutely deplorable people who serve zero value in a thread, trashing it with comments that are demeaning, "racist," or unrealistic.

"Racist" as in the "troubled life stormfront larper" kind of people. Not the shits and giggles kind of "racism" that are considered normal here, you get what I mean?

"Stormfront larpers" as in "death to anyone that is not white, you're all slaves to us and we'll make sure you only represent less than [insert percentage here] of the population on this planet while we milk your economies dry!" or some shit. That kind of shit gets on my nerves.

Doesn't the US have summer variations of most of their uniforms?
>>
>>32729545

Hmm, I don't usually have much luck there
>>
>>32729853
No, we have like absolutely nothing. The only patterns we've issued on a large scale in the past 20 years were M81 woodland, that trash grey UCP digital, and recently the multimeme/scorpion/OCP family for the army, and woodland and desert marpat for the marines.

Navy patterns suck ass, and they're just now starting to issue type 3 nwu's (AOR 2 )on a larger scale to replace the blue garbage nwu type 1's.

No summer or winter variants of patterns. Just totally different patterns. The only one thathat comes close to being a seasonal "variant" is winter marpat, but it isn't as much as a different colorway of marpat as it is a completely different pattern.
>>
>>32729853
>>32730787
Forgot to mention three and six color desert patterns for large scale issued stuff.

Also, I guess the "summer variation" thing KIND OF includes the "hot weather" m81 bdu's, although any sort of variation in the colors of the woodland pattern would just be accidental or a result of them being printed on a different fabric blend. Even then, we don't use them any more.
>>
>>32729853
>>32730787
>>32730847

I know the BDU's had a winter weight, which sucked, a normal weight, which was eh, and a summer weight which was good but faded quickly and badly.
As far as I know the general ACUs, MCCUUs, & NWUs, don't have any variations.
The ABU has a summer version, but only had the interior map pockets removed and is the same weight/weave.
Nowadays the Combat Shirt is being worn as basically the "summer" shirt, but there are no hot weather trousers.

The US prefers layered systems for seasonal changes like ECWCS, underlayers, goretex jackets, liners, etc.

Removing the sweatshield and changing the material on the DBDU might count but that was more of a general improvement than anything. The Navy was testing summer-weight NWU Type I's right before everyone switched to Type III's instead, there was even a message passed down about switching to them. Also maybe poplin vs ripstop jungle jackets.

What's the best soap for washing my milsurp?

I have a ton of Mills Fleet Farm and Varusteleka crap that smells like.. fucking milsurp. So I can't wear/use any of it. What detergent should I use to keep the number of washing cycles to a minimum?

I use regular Tide with warm water, then air it out to dry. Works 99% of the time. If it's really bad, then maybe I use some Oxyclean powder too.

For mothball smell DO NOT WASH with other clothes. The smell will just wash into your other clothes. To get rid of mothball smell, wash on hot and hang the clothes in the sun. The naphthalene will sublime out of the garment, leaving it smelling better.

See pic related for a really heavily mothballed jacket

Anyone know stuff about older Soviet era night vision? I'm kind of considering getting a pair for shits since I may be able to get some for cheap, but I'm somewhat afraid of cataracts that are associated with old Soviet era night vision technology.
Are these just PNV-57E tubes put into a shell that somewhat looks like 1PN-63s, or are they really more like the tubes in the 1PN-63s and other later Soviet night vision?
>>
>>32734179
For the jacket pictured, I washed once or twice on hot, then hung it inside to air out. A month or two later, it smells fine. The sun is faster (a day or so) but not absolutely necessary.

Note that most modern milsurp is just kinda musty and maybe has some mild preservatives. Mothballs are a really strong, distinctive smell that you might not recognize if you aren't 70 years old. Regular milsurp is easy to wash. Only mothballs (which have an unpleasant kind of petroleum-like smell) are a pain in the ass
>>
>>32734281
I'm familiar with mothball odor, my shit doesn't have that. I'm having a tough time getting my stuff to smell "fresh". They smell fine enough for the range and whatnot, but I have a few pieces that are normal enough looking that I want to use them regularly.

I hardly go on Reddit or any other forums these days. Don't make assumptions. Do you think it's a good when a thread about certain topics get derailed heavily by said LARPers I mentioned?

I ain't Black or Jewish, but I find it inflammatory when Stormfags honestly believe Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese are on the same level as Africans. LARPers/Stormfags offer nothing to a thread other than to have the thread die prematurely (post count limits until archived).

I apologize for slow response, but here you go, all the info you need for the best places to browse "Japanese Premium" gear in Japan lol:

http://aggressor-group.jp/abouts/
>Yubinbango651-1232
>Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Kita-ku, Matsugae-cho 3-chome fourth No. 8

http://www.ranger.ne.jp/company.html
>2 Chome-6-3 Shimoyoshida, Fujiyoshida-shi, Yamanashi-ken 403-0004

https://www.sandgraf.jp/index.php?main_page=page_3
>Yubinbango101-0021, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo Sotokanda 6-chome, 14-2 Sakai Suehiro building 7F

The list is for stores that have physical and online store.

As a bonus, some airsoft stores you can browse around while you're at it:

and
http://echigoya-tokyo.jp/user_data/shop.php

I would like to note I over exaggerated about S&Graf. Some of their SDF stuff are decent, some are not to put it simply. The uniforms are actually decent, I forgot they were PX quality.

There are two types:
Airborne Version:
https://www.sandgraf.jp/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=220_237&products_id=2638

All Seasons, regular forces Version:
https://www.sandgraf.jp/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=220_237&products_id=987

I can not locate the Winter camo uniform.
>>
>>32747095
Another thing to add on.

The issues my colleagues had with S&Graf would be the construction/materials used to make their helmets, and my colleagues (if memory serves me right) are not too fond of the quality to price ratio for S&G's combat vests.

From experience, S&Graf should be able to communicate in basic English, so for the average Foreigner, it's not a bad place to visit not to mention their Tokyo store is located within Akihabara Electric City.

If memory serves me right, you are not allowed to touch their display mannequin and take pictures of their store. In fact, various stores in Japan or maybe just in Akiba do not allow visitors to take pictures of their store and merchandise. I don't understand why.

Also, it appears S&Graf has decided to carry Sentou Youi's Type-3 Vest.

Sentou's Type-3 Specs:

>1000D Cordura
>Quick release function included (Quick release function "may" damage your vest as it is intended to instantly "disassemble" the vest to tend the wearer's wounds, troublesome/hard to reassemble)
>Currently the only "holy grail" of Type-3 replicas out there
>Only one size if memory serves me right, either L Size or Hybrid M~L Size
>Length: 40 cm · Height: 57 cm · Width: 15 cm · Weight: 3.2 kg

MSRP is aprox $264.41

Why it's cheaper on S&Graf, I don't know.

Keyword to look for on the internet:
>自衛隊防弾チョッキ3型(レプリカ.台湾製)

It literally means "Japan Self Defence Force Type-3 Vest (Replica, made in Taiwan)

On Yahoo Auctions, look for this seller:
>saigigaku

http://closedsearch.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/closedsearch/%E8%87%AA%E8%A1%9B%E9%9A%8A%E9%98%B2%E5%BC%BE%E3%83%81%E3%83%A7%E3%83%83%E3%82%AD/0/

As mentioned 2 days ago, the legitimate, Japanese Government issued gear are all made of Ballistic Nylon, while Sentou's vest is made of Cordura. Both are indeed 1000D.

I will report back ASAP if S&graf's Type-3 vest is Sentou's or their own clone/replica.
